Maybe it’s just a coincidence but I didn't notice a publicity campaign until the Doctor's hospital in Bridgeport opened, and now WRHS has opened a clinic in Bridgeport as well. I'm good with competition and the supply and demand thing but on health care I wish the powers that be could just agree to do what is best for the citizens of Wise County instead of trying to one up each other.
We use it to transport stuff around to our various clinics throughout surrounding counties so employees don't have to use personal vehicles to take out supplies and such.
Agreed, 9:08. The people of Bridgeport suddently acquired a certain level of significance to WRHS after Doctor's Hospital opened, I guess. Wonder why they didn't feel a need to give us a clinic years ago?
It's mainly to transport labs back and forth between clinics and campuses. The hospital got a new marketing person almost 2 years ago now and she is doing a bang up job of getting the hospital recognized. From my understanding the Bridgeport hospital is no threat to a hospital that size (having about 10 inpatients a day).
True; it's no threat at all. Wise Regional is booming and growing. Three new specialists coming this summer alone. We have an excellent marketer, new webmaster, and all kinds of other improvements.
So a new marketer got Bridgeport a clinic? Wow, she really is good. I guess it's all a coinkydink that it happened right after Bridgeport's hospital opened. And if you believe that, I've got some gorgeous ocean front property right here in Wise County I'd like to show you.
Just for the record, that marketer (who I suspect is posting about herself here) might want to work on the ER reputation at WRHS. I don't know how many people have told me nightmare stories about that place.
to 9:42pm: Apparently lots of people disagree with you, because Wise Regional sees over 2,000 people each month, so someone trusts them. You go right on down the road.
To anonymous 12:38... People using WRH has a lot less to do with "trust" than it does with the fact WRH is the ONLY major hospital within 40 miles of Decatur and just so happens to be the ONLY hospital where the majority of the doctors in Decatur have hospital privileges.
I know, I know, Doctor's Hopital/Bridgeport Hospital is just down the road. I do not care what the hospital in Bridgeport claims, that hospital is not a regional facility and is unable to offer as comprehensive range of services as does WRH.
Wow, didn't realize I was such a topic of conversation... Wise Regional's marketer here. I assure you I wasn't posting comments about myself.
Not all of us buy into an "us" or "them" mentality. We had an excellent opportunity to utilize a vehicle that would have high visibility to promote our hospital. Our efforts, from the time that I was hired, have and always will - focus on the outstanding services that we provide to our community.

I'll bet the Bridgeport hospital doesn't have a fancy schmancy car like that.

"excellent marketer"??? I smell that excellent marketer marketing herself (or himself).

No, I'm note the marketer. I'm a nurse, and our ED is excellent. Have you been to a city ER lately? Now, that is a nightmare.
