Looks like some kind of leftist plot to me. Prayer at a county building? It's a trap.

This would be like having a liberal pro-abortion president speaking at a major midwestern Catholic university. Like that would ever happen.

Barry your slacking

No big story on Manny being suspended 50 games for substance abuse

I believe it was former president John Adams who said, "We need to keep government out of our churches but we need to keep our churches in our givernment." If we as a country don't turn back to God we will continue to spiral into irrelevance.

Wait, wait, wait! Didn't people meet at the courthouse for National Prayer Day, or whatever it's called?

I didn't hear any complaints about that.

A little prayer, no matter where it is, never hurt anybody. And nobody is twisting anybody's arm to participate.

Does that mean I could go pray to Allah at noon?

Anonymous said...

yes, go pray to Allah at noon. It's a free country, Thank God!

Some Bridgeport folks made them take down the sign that listed out all the years that Decatur was District Champions in football - sayin' this was a county building. My guess these same folks wouldn't have a problem with this particular sign.

No, thank Allah.

I heard at the Cut-N-Color that Mohammed Allah was appearing at the Courthouse today or somethin.

I hope the the podium has seat belts.

I saw you take this picture!!!!

Taking down high school football signs is blasphemy(sp).

I wish Obama would participate in some prayer. It's a shame this president doesn't care..............

Gorilla: They said they took them down because of Bridgeport people. Really it was because the Boyd people were laughing at them being proud of thier "district championships" when we have won two STATE championships! No one likes to be laughed at!

Anonymous said...

I dont have a problem with them having signs that suport Decatur but they are a county building and they should put up some about all the county schools. We all have something to be proud of!

1:45 Those were state championships won in those years Boyd dipped down from AAA to AA?

...just kidding...

AA and proud of it!

Barry you must not understand what separation of church and state mean. To make that statement

Nation Day of Prayer at hand. Don't know why some have to make an event of it. Think there is a little scripture that encourages going into your closet (this day and age your church, temple, mosque)

Some are more about the display of prayer. Sad commentary on modern day life.

I'm livin' on a prayer...

I wonder if Jesus voted for Obama.

Anonymous said...

Shouldn't that sign say "Pray for East Africa"?

We're not exactly roughing it here in America.

Anonymous said...

Is it necessary to put the "12" in front of "Noon"? Given the average IQ of those who will be in attendance, maybe so.

Anonymous said...

If I pray alone today for America will it count? Or do I have to join "Us"?

The 1796 treaty with Tripoli states that the United States was "in no sense founded on the Christian religion" . This was not an idle statement, meant to satisfy muslims-- they believed it and meant it. This treaty was written under the presidency of George Washington and signed under the presidency of John Adams.

Jesus voted for Obama the moment he was conceived.

Too bad he's not reciprocating.

As long as the prayer at noon (and sign) had a secular purpose, did not inhibit or enhance religious views and was not an excessive entanglement of church and state, then its fine...

The rest is for you to figure out...I too have tired head and more important things to worry about...

Congress should never have mandated a National Day of Prayer. Americans don’t need the government telling them when to pray and what to pray for. But if the federal government is going to set aside a prayer day, it should recognize the broad diversity of faiths, not just fundamentalist Christians.

I'm not religious, at all, but what could it hurt? Makes as much sense as the democrats' plan for our country. That too, seems more like a prayer than a plan

Barry, if you know, just what group or individual put that sign up?

Happen to get a pic of them, him, her?

I agree with 4:24. And if some of these do gooders could get your mouth opened wide enough, they'd cram a Bible down it with a gun held to your head.

This is fine with me.It's the non-reading boneheads, who stand next to the front door of wal-mart with the NON-SMOKING sign at their back and a cigarette hanging out of their mouth. Just saying...Turn Around and sound it out,it's not that difficult.

6:44??????????????????????????

I guess it hasn't occurred to you that buying all that Chinese garbabe at the Great-Wal-of China Mart is just as stupid as smoking

Someone reminded me that the Bush Administration put James Dobson and group in charge of National Day of Prayer.

Yuk.

I vigorously oppose specific religious requirements on our population. However, I don't have a problem with this effort IF it allows for ANY religion. Please recognize that God is not exclusive to Christians. Remember that Jews and Muslims all believe in "God." Native Americans, Buddhists, Hindus and others variously believe in supernatural spirits - and the key word is BELIEVE as none can prove theirs is the only one. So pray away if it helps you but don't require me to join in any particular belief system.

I am glad God made sure Obama was elected. It was His will or Obama would not have been elected. God controls all things.

Anonymous said...

God also punishes, sometimes harshly. That could be a good explanation for Obama's win.

Or the eight year plague of W. Bush.

stolen from another blog:****
There are two types of prayer. Vertical prayer, which is a person praying to God.
And horizontal prayer, which is a person trying to impress those around themselves as to how good a Christian they are.
