Channel 8 actually ran this story last night. (Trying to see if they'll post the video.) It is incredibly vague and I'm not sure "scandal" is the most appropriate term.

I don't think this is all that uncommon or scandalous.
This is crazy. A bunch of horny 13 year olds luring football players to have sex IS NOT sexual assault! That crap has been going on for years and I can't believe the DA is considering ruining these boys lives over a bunch of little Ho's trying to be popular. Obviously no one forced anyone to do anything!
Regardless of what the Girls had in mind Kyler is 18 and was at that time. So he knew better but chose to take advantage of the girls. Both parties should be punished. I know the girls parents all took action towards there own child. But the parents of the boys just blamed the girls and did nothing.
I guess none of these guys have ever heard the term "jailbait." Give me a freakin' break. The 17/18 year olds knew they were banging 13 year old kids aka legally known as children.
I don't know any of the people involved but I sure as Hell know it's wrong for a 17/18 year old to have any type of sex with a 13 year old child.
Girls send nude pictures boys react and get arrested...sad for all parties. The only person more stupid here than the teenagers is the Wise County District Attorney! I would love to be on his jury, shame on him for trying to criminalize this. It was Wrong, but you can't tell me these boys forced themselves on these girls. Quit trying to make a name for yourself Mr. DA, you of all people should know better than this!
Why anyone would want to coach or teach in high school or junior high, I would never know. Just keeping the kids from screwing at school and the parking lot is a full time job!
What Senior boys must get is don't get involved with a girl under 16 because if she wants you in trouble, you are in trouble.
My advice would be to zip up and ad a pad lock if that is what it takes! Much better than going to jail or becoming a known as a sex offender for life.
Parents need to have this conversation regardless of how stupid the girls are. They may be facing becoming a mother at 13, 14 or 15. Parents need to have a converstion about that also. Take away their cell phones, lock the windows and ad a security alarm if they are sneaking out of the house. And if that fails, sleep outside their bedroom door.
And Dads need to let the older boys know he will beat the crap out of both of them if something happens.
It is time this stopped and the adult in the group has more responsiblity. Sorry parents, that is the law.
Have you ever noticed how girls dress these days? I can't believe their parents let them out the door. Some of the dresses at Prom or the banquets should be rated X. What the boys did was wrong, but the girls should be punished as well.
The girls got into the vehicles on their own and are just as guilty.!
Law is the law and they broke it. Not to mention it takes a sicko to go looking n the junior highs for chicks when u r 18. Wether they r "offering" or not takes a real sick sob.
this is a scandal because the girls who had a list of the most popular boys on campus and set out a goal to see who could sleep with the most of the boys on this list by the end of the summer. not only is this a lifetime movie, but its wrong all-around. bottom line - when a 17/18 bang a 13/14, it is wrong no matter who dirty she is.
No shame on the DA, just shame on 8:27 AM for being so ignorant! The DA doesn't have a "choice" as in "choosing" to go forward with this. It's defined as a crime by the legislature--a felony at that, and he is sworn to uphold the law when he takes office. Do DA's in this position try to use some discretion? Yes! However, the law doesn't allow for much discretion for charging the offense. There is discretion in what offers a DA might make concerning plea negotiations. Folks, please quit throwing ignorant rocks like 8:27 AM did, if you don't know the legal processes involved. It just makes you look stupid. Like 8:27 AM.
What is scandalous is that these "victims" all made a pact with each other that they were going to have sex with each of these boys. The boys were specifically named and all of the girls even signed the piece paper. This whole investigation got started when one of the girls dad's found the paper in her room. Seems to me that they should be in just as much trouble as the boys for conspiring and actively pursuing something like this. I will say that 13 years old is a little young for an 18 year old but in high school the mindset of age difference is completely different. I will also say that I have seen some of these 13 year old girls and some of them definitely do not appear to be 13. What do they expect a young guy to do in a situation like this? While it is still illegal, these girls are just as, if not more, responsible for this whole thing and I hope the facts come out to reveal it as such.
Was no list. That's a bs lie that the boys parents started to try to cover there sick bastard sons ass'. No list. Never had been. Ask all the parents involved.
Sorry 8:49, but I too say Shame on the DA. They arrested this kid at school, like he was a flight risk. No, because they are grandstanding. Pure and Simple. Not saying what the boys or girls did was right, but how many times can you get assaulted, in different locations on different days, that will make this a stretch for most people, and it should have been a stretch for even a rookie prosecutor.
Ummm 8:49, you are crazy as hell! Have you ever heard of, "Dismissed in the interest of justice?" I have seen rock solid burglary cases, aggrevated assault cases, and other "violent" crimes, dismissed, for no apparent reason. The DA can refuse the case, ask Jana!!!
PARENTS, it is YOUR job to educate your young adult that "jailbait" does exist! Too many kids in schools these days who have not had "the talk" with their parents. PROTECT your sons/daughters and impress upon them that LAWS do include even the "highy hormoned motivated kid!" Gotta say, Alvord had a very good speaker speak to ALL age groups at their schools. SEX and the LAW was the topic and kids from elementary to high school got the message. It's just too dang bad that schools have to take on that responsibility. Maybe the parents of these young men did have that talk and the boys just didn't listen. Well now, see what happens when we don't pay attention to parents who DO KNOW what can happen?
Amen, 8:52. I consider the girls MORE responsible, since they planned the whole thing. who cares how old they are? If they can plan to seduce boys, then they are old enough to suffer the consequences. I, too, would love to be on that jury. How incredibly unfair, unjust, and just plain sad to even consider ruining those boys life when they were set up by little hos.
13 year olds are considered children, because they ARE children. 18 year olds are considered adults, because they are adults. Adults are held accountable for knowing the law and for taking the high road when some kid comes around looking for trouble or sex! The law is the law and the STATE files the charges against the adult(s). Sad situation for all, but these adult men should have known better.
Is this what a major ABC metro-area TV station passes for news these days? Is the news business so slow that they have to resort to stories of sexual allegations among 18-13 year old kids? I don't defend the actions of some of these kids, if proven true, but no matter what, several young lives will be scarred forever because of this story. There is just no winner here.
*YiKeS*. It certainly sounds like several Chico parents are epic failures when it comes to teaching their children about personal sexuality and personal responsibility. It is up to parents to teach their children THE LAW and personal responsibility even when they are CHILDREN.
Blaming the girls is like blaming gun dealers for people who use guns to commit crimes. Just because it was offered to the 17/18 year old guys does not mean the guys are unable to say NO THANKS!. Blaming the girls is like blaming alcohol manufacturer for someone getting drunk and driving. At any time someone can say NO!.
The 17 year old males have been driving a car for at least a year perhaps 2 years and 13 year old girls have 2 perhaps 3 years before they are deemed responsible enough to drive a car. There is no way a 13 year old child is more culpable for having sex with a 17 year old than the 17 year old.
Calling a 13 year old child a "ho" and/or "slut" is an indecent, despicable act. If(that is a hypothetical "if") anyone is a "ho" and a "slut" it would be the 17 year old males who took advantage of the 13 year old female CHILDREN.
The tragedy is that NEGLIGENT parents are responsible for their children being a party to this disgusting scandal and it is their children who are suffering the consequences of the PARENT'S NEGLIGENCE.
Do you even realize that 13 year olds are not in High school. They are in Junior high. These boys are bound to know what "Jailbait" is. They just didnt think they would get caught. They do need to be punished. The 13 year old girls need counseling. The obviously have some problems. This is a sad thing to happen on both sides. It is still statutory rape. As a parent I would press statutory rape charges if it were my 13 year old daughter.
EXTENDED - The Alvord school board unanimously approved a two-year contract extension for athletic director and head football coach Mike Chaney at last night's meeting. Chaney's contract will run through June 30, 2011
This is a no win situation for the prosecutor. File the charges and people say it is boys being boys and that the girls are responsible. Don't file the charges and these girls were sexually assaulted and the D.A. didn't do anything. For those of you who want on the jury so that you can let them go, fine (though you will be violating your oath as a juror and undermining the entire system.) Wouldn't you rather the D.A. give the people the chance to decide (ie. grand jury, jury) rather than being the high and mighty one making all of the decisions himself or herself. Yes I know the D.A. makes these decisions everyday but a case should only be refused if there is not enough evidence to prosecute. If there is enough evidence to prosecute then it should be up to the people as to what happens. This is how the system is supposed to work and I for one am glad that the people get to make the final decision, no matter what you believe on this particular issue.
i think is the 13 year olds fault as just as much as the guys so people should stop talking bad about the guy the sex happen more then once so at some point the 13 year old wanted it to happen so yes i do think she is a " slut" guys sleep with younger girls all the time so why is this kid such a bad person because he is not
This does make this kid a bad person for having sex with a 13 year old girl. The girl is not a slut she obviously has problems. It is not natural for girls to want to do this. These boys took advantage of the situation. Boys can be boys I know but it doesnt mean that they dont have consequences. They are going to have to face them.
You who talk about his wonderful and great "system" we have are truly innocents. The "system" fails every day, and people get hurt for mistakes they make in ways far too harsh while others get off easy for major offenses. No, I would NOT trust the system to do anything right at this point. And yes, I do know that 13 yr old are in middle school. That does NOT prevent them from being whores or tramps. They may need couseling, but they also need STRICT consequences and punishment. Another not: if I were on the jury, I WOULD be "the people".
Now maybe the far side people in alvord will realize this election is NOT about 1 coach, or 1 man......it's about getting the right people to run a school system like it should be run. Not entertain others agenda's!!!
It dosent matter what these 13 year old girls look like these days. The boys know their age because they go to school with them. It is a small enough school that they do know what grade they are in.
Sick sick people place blame on children over adults. Yes the children need counseling but they r children. Shame on you for saying anything different. Has to b parents of the boys writing that because I would hope no one else could think that sickly. Also shows y the boys did what they did with parenting like that. Pray for the children and prosecute the adults.
I agree with the 10:50 post. I cant believe you people are blaming those young girls. That is so ridiculous. Those boys are not animals they can control themselves. If those girls walk naked in front of them it is illegal to touch them.
According to the law, yes you are considered an adult at age 17. But being a parent of a 17+ year old, I can tell you, they are FAR from being adults at that age. The things that go on in schools at this day and time are shocking to say the least. Girls 12+ years old taking pictures of their private parts on their cell phones and sending them to who knows who, Jr. High parties with marijuana smoking going on in the bathrooms and explicit acts on the dance floor, and sleepovers with girls kissing girls for the entertainment of the boys. I tell you, it's SHOCKING! But it does happen and it happens everywhere. Big cities and small rural areas. If you want to blame anyone, it falls upon the parents!
Well, I can't believe you people are letting these girls off scott free, when they PLANNED to seduce these guys. And no, I am not a parent of these kids; I don't even know who they are or live in Chico. I just believe the girls are as culpable as the boys. I have sons and a daughter, and I would be angry at BOTH, not just my boys should they be involved. This blaming the guys is a reverse double standard; these girls knew what they were doing, too. I'm not saying the guys weren't guilty of a bad thing, but I truly believe the girls were just as guilty.
Your right it does fall upon the parents. The kids do have thier own responsibilty. The parents cannot control everything the kids do. They learn this stuff from other kids at school. I know its shocking. And you are right that 17+ kids are far from adults. The fact is they are legally adults. It dosent matter if they are immature. The court dosent see it that way. The kids are responsible for their own actions.
I am a parent of boys and girls. What my point is that the girls are kids. The boys are adults. These girls are children. If it were older girls and young boys I would feel the same way. It is a difference in adults and children.
if the girls sending dirty pictures of themselves to the boys was so bad, why did the boys not turn them in when it happen instead of after they nailed them in the school parking lot?
I agree with 11:16. The girls these days are NOT innocents, like you are trying to make them sound. My 15 year old niece told me that it's very common for girls as young as 14 to give guys b***jobs at parties or even on lunch breaks at school, because they don't consider it sex, and they can't get pregnant. That's in Wise co. schools, too, not NYC. Wake up and realize our little sweet school girls are NOT what they appear to be. And my niece says these are the popular crowd, not the ones we would expect it of.
I think the law is super! There is a huge difference in a young man who is either tricked by an underaged girl or who has consentual sex with one from the true sex offender who preys upon real children, age aside. A man to rapes a 10 yr old is in a different class from an 18 yr old boy who has consensual sex with his 15 yr old girlfriend. It's about time the law recognized the difference.
So at 17 they are adults, but they can't buy beer, cigs or women until they are 21 {legal}. If an 18 yr. old girl, messes with a 16 year old boy, and the boy's parents file charges, are the results same?
Your right their is a difference in an underage girl of 15 having sex with her boyfriend. Than a 13 year old girl having sex with random 18 year old guys. They could be spreading diseases and I would be shocked if none of them are pregnant. When that happens Im sure that 18 year old will run. The 13 year old would be the one to have to deal with it then. That would make this all even worse than it already is.
I'm a concerned parent and was just wonderin if I enrolled my young man in something worthwhile like Banjo lessons, would that possibly stim his affinity to having illegal sexual intercourse with underage females.
It is a bit strange that these girls were "assaulted" multiple times by the same boys in different locations on different days and they didn't say anything to authorities. I would think if they had said something then the investigation of this incident would not have taken 10 months. Just a thought....
This is a very tough situation legally. All the children are in the wrong here as far as I'm concerned. I do not believe that an 18 year old should be criminalized or labeled a sex offender for having consensual sex with a young girl. The problem arises as what age do you make the younger child too young to know what they are doing according to the law. This is as far as the law goes. I believe these girls knew exactly what they were doing. It happened numerous times, was started and provoked (according to reports) by the girls and the girls were sneaking out of their parents home. Now how can parents hold the boys responsible when their own children were not acting appropriately, lying about their whereabouts and sneaking out. My opinion is there shouldn't be any legal charges made. Teach the children the appropriate behavior and punish them at home when they don't act appropriately. This will ruin this boys life and he didn't rape her. And just for reference I have a son and a daughter. I would not pursue charges against a boy if this were my daughter who acted by her own choice. Nor would I want my son prosecuted if this were to happen to him and it was consensual. I hold my children accountable for their own actions!Being 18 and legal doesn't make them mature and wise.
I sincerely laugh at most of you here who want to "change" the law?
The law is an extremely complex set of ambiguous rules that have been built and documented over a very long period of time. If you supposedly break the law then you will need to pay a lawyer. If you think the law has been broken then you must interpret the ambiguity of the law by paying a lawyer. If you would like to change the law then simply head to Austin or D.C. and (you guessed it) pay a lawyer.
If you agree with these facts, then I hope you can agree that the law is a process whose primary function is to make money for lawyers. Johnny Cochran said it best when he stated that "the color of justice in America is green". I also quote one of our lovely local attorneys who once told me that "if you find justice at the courthouse it was an absolute fu8%ing coincidence".
So everybody get all steamy over this issue but in the end the girls lose their virginity, the boys lose their freedom and the parents lose their money.
Awrite. This is a case of hormone's gone wild. Is it legal? HELL NO! But it happens all the time. Guys this age think with the OTHER head and girls that age are so gullible, some will do anything to be with a popular guy.
Chaney renewal is business as usual. Just wait until the Title IV ruling comes down. My gut tells me that it will not go in Chaney's favor and his ass will be GONE!! Renew his contract, fire him. Boy that sure does sound familiar. Isn't that what happened to Enis?? Give anyone enough rope and they are bound to hang themselves.
1:09 Take your kid out of football and enroll him in banjo lessons NOW! Banjo playing boys are not HOT and not the targets. He just may be safe and who knows he might earn some money playing the Banjo in a band. Only old women like me like Banjo playing boys and he would be very safe.
Gosh, just thinking back when I was 13, the biggest treat of the day was going to get a snow cone at night.
These girls are very, very troubled and severely lacking in self esteem. The boys are really being stupid for messing around with them and the parents should start acting like parents!
Grandparents should have the talk about sending nude pictures over their cell phones. We have and kids have to know how much troule they can get into and what the laws are.
I feel sure that NO jury in wise co would convict this kid of aggravated sexual assault, and ruin this boy's life forever..I think he and his family should absolutely fight this in court. btw those sluts should be punished for their actions, obviously they are SLUTS.
Hold on 10:12.......It may be a joke.....but the greater good will have the last laugh. Vote NO for JOE BLOW! Vote NO for Stacy Trice! Did you guys see the "WEAK"ly? Joe Blow should have checked his spelling in his "meet the candidate" ad. We all believe he supports "vacational programs", he's fine with Mikey being on a paid vacation for the last 7 years. "Technology now go hand in and and want our studnets to have what they need"?????? WHAT? STUD NUTS and, and....sounds like he's been in the wine cabinet again! The last part actually made sense. Who helped him write it? Could it have been Tracy or Joey????The world may never know.
This whole situation is very very sad. According to reports the girls were the instigators and this one guy was 18 at the time so his name and his family's name are in the media while the girls names and other guys involved remain secret. Yes it states that this girl was 13 - the summer between her 8th grade and 9th grade year and willing to do anything to be popular.....how sad.....
I agree with Anita too....everyone involved was in the wrong but the girls should have to pay the same consequences as the boys if it is indeed true that they were the ones that started this whole fiasco.
chaney is not capable of beaing a football coach, so how in the hell can he run an athletic dept? remember when we were playing henrietta 2 years ago and we would had made the playoffs, but chaney did not know the tiebreaker rules so henrietta sat back and watched chaney run the clock out? yeah, henrietta went in our spot that year because they knew the rule and their coaches and fans were laughing at ass.
what a joke. him and trice need to go camping on brokeback mountain
don't trust your boys with any girl with blonde hair that is a cheerleader that also plays volleyball and softball....those kind are dangerous and have dads that will go for your throat while letting their daughter get away with everything
Failure of parenting. Take the kids away including the boys. This violates so many things it would be difficult to start remedying it. i find it difficult to believe anyone in this story "didn't know" what they were doing.
we should alll wait until all facts of the case are revealed to choose who may or may not be comitting a crime. to those who are jumping on the hate the D.A. wagon remember he only gets the case after it has been investgated by the wise county S.O. and if the evidence is there then turned over to the D.A. . at this moment we can call the boys in this stupid idiots the 18 year old should have been taught that 13 is still a child and to leave it alone and one wonders if the parents are to blame for not teaching thier childeren. remember ignorance of the law is no excuse and a 13 year old girl is unable to make an adult decision on sex if you think with your tiny sword then you will always get in trouble
People who are defending the males in this instance are STUPID. Thirteen and 14 year old girls cannot have "consensual sex" because they are LEGALLY incapable of granting consent. .
Just because a 13 year old CHILD puts it out there it is NO excuse for a 17/18 year old male to put it in her. .
Thirteen year olds are CHILDREN. Even if they are CHILDREN who want to have sex. .
Incidentally, what type of trashy upbringing did these males have that they were sticking it to 13/14 year olds?
(For this year's Oil Bowl)Mike Chaney of Alvord is the head coach for Texas this year and will be assisted by defensive coordinator Bill Howard of Wylie and Kevin Atkinson of Keller. Can't be that bad if he was selected with these big school coaches...???
As one that works in public education, this is not suprising, nor is it rare. Someone just found out about this situation, that is is the only difference. There are many more good kids than dysfunctional ones but we can see the writing on the wall. Parents DO need to wake up and smell the coffee. The sick part of this whole deal is that while all of these kiddos make EXTREMELY poor decsions as do many teenagers, the parent population that enables and silently condones such behavior is growing by leaps and bounds. Shocking are the parents that excuse and condone appalling behavior. The number of parents that teachers see and talk to in conferences that even encourage their children's disrespect and lies would stun most people. So situations like this are sad but not suprising to those that work with teens and parents. The parents that allow drinking parties are well-known among the students. And a note to you, the parent that thinks she's cool by letting her son (or daughter) and his friends drink up...you are complete trash no matter how much money you have, how young you act, or how cool the kids think you are.
Ok so first of all I want to get this out here before I start I'm not a parent of either sides I'm a student at chico high school and I just want to say yes those boys were wrong and should get punishment but not being called a sexual predator for the rest of thier lives the girls got no punishment at all they got grounded for a little bit but thats all they were allowed to have thier phones and cheer and everything else three weeks later! These girls are walking around like they are all sweet and innocent and have nothing wrong and that is not right they knew what they were doing and what sad is they still are they haven't stopped because they were not punished and I know this for a fact so don't call me a liar just because you want to cover your daughters butts because of course they aren't going to tell you the truth and what's even worse is that all of these freshman girls that REALLY WERENT involved are being classified as sluts and whores to just because they are also freshman and it's wrong fir the girls that were involved to sit back and let that happen they should have enough guts to stand up and say yes I knew what I was doing these guys didn't sexually assualt me I instigated it ( which they did no matter what they say) that way they don't ruin any more lives
Bottom line---if they wouldn't have been sluts and whores and yes I said sluts and whores this wouldn't have happened! And they need to quit associating other freshman girls with this because there were only a few involved and the others shouldn't have to be thought of like this
Why are all these people calling the girls sluts and hos?Theses teenagers and I do mean teenagers were all at fault. As far as this list with the names of the boys, has anyone seen it? These people envolved grew up together so of course they werent thinking about the age thing. There is more to all of this than what a few of these girls told their parents. They were scared cause they got caught. There is a chance that they would have said anything to save their own butts and thats what they did. There is a wrong to all of this and its a heartbreaking story but when will the truth finally be told???? In court?? Kyler should not have to miss his last yr. because of what all these teenagers did. They were all at fault.
And continuing on the first 9:55 p.m whores andsluts might not be right but it's the truth and the truth hurts! these girls when they are walking around flirting with every OLDER guy forget the ones thier age they won't get as much publicity and they are talking to three or more guys every two days and most of the time they are different guys then the day before so like I said this tuff is still continuing and most of these girls not only act like nothing is wrong they also post status's about being excited they were talked about on the news thats not right they were on it for a freshing sex scandal for crying out loud no one thinks your cool because you did this it had the opposite effect and they should get in trouble just as much as the guts niethee one of them were in the right
It is really sad that a young man's life is being ruined. Yes, he made a poor choice, but I don't believe for one second that he assaulted anyone. He made a poor choice to have consentual sex with someone younger than him. When her parents found out, she cried rape. I know what the laws are regarding consentual sex and all and feel that the law is unfair and unjust in some circumstances. The young man deserves punishment for breaking the law of having sex with a minor. The punishment should be different for consentual sex and assualt. I know all parents want to think that their children are innocent and that their poor choices are someone else's fault, but that is simply not the case. As a parent I know that kids will be kids. If those girls were truly seeking out sex partners at such a young age, they need help. As for the young men, they deserve punishment, but consentual sex is nothing to ruin their lives over. I don't know this young man, but am truly saddened to think that his life will forever be tarnished by this as he will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his live.
The Chico ISD board should close campus and carefully monitor the students to prevent illegal and improper sexual conduct at school. All trips should have sponsors to make sure kids are having sex at the back of the bus or any where else. Students involved should be suspended and removed from sports, band, etc..
Students involved in extra circular activities should be removed if involved in under age drinking. Drug testing should be done on a regular basis and a dog brought into school to check for drugs.
Suspend any student involved in sending nude pictures and turn them into law enforcement.
Health care professionals should be brought in to educate the students about spreading herpes, HIV, etc..
High school should be 10th through 12th, leaving freshmen in junior high if possible.
Leaders in the community need to step up to make sure improper and illegal sexual activity stops at school.
To the student at Chico high school, the girls involved are headed for a lot of trouble, if they are not already pregnant or have a sexually transmitted disease. Starting at this age, the chances they will have cervical cancer is very high.
It doesn't matter if the girls chased the boys, it is illegal for an adult to have sex with a 13 year old.
Parents have to wake up and teach their children morals and consequences of improper sexual conduct.
This needs to be a wake up call for the community. I'm sure a lot of the kids come from homes with a lot of problems, but self discipline must be learned or bad choices can ruin your life.
Being popular is a fleeting moment in a very long life. Twenty years from now it will mean nothing at all. Being able to stand up to peer pressure and be true to yourself will give you the strengh to live a good life.
Again, it is very, very sad the young girls self esteem is so low that they thought having sex with football players who have a losing record, would make them popular on campus!
When this comes to trial, it will not be cool to have to go to court with their parents to testify.
At the end, none will say the sex was worth all the problems! That is why you just don't do it until your ready and older.
Well, this is a huge wake up call to young men. Several years ago, a friend of mine had a son who was a Sr. in high school. He was valedictorian, had already been accepted to his university of choice and had plans to become a doctor. He was 18. He was sitting in a hot tub at a party when a 14 year old girl comes along. Can't figure what a 14 year old girl was doing at the party, but they seem to be places they are not supposed to be. Anyway, she gets into the hot tub and comes on to "Tim." Tim, after having a few beers, thought she was 17, because she told him she was, and they commenced foreplay, then took it to the back seat of the car and had sex. Next day, she tells her mother that "Tim" assaulted her. On and on ...... and the final result. "Tim" is arrested, taken to trial, found to be GUILTY, and sent to jail. I believe he was there for two years. When he got out, he wasn't the same kid at all. No more ambition to become a doctor ( don't think he actually could because he is now registered as a sex offender) and no more desire to be "good." His life took a different road and he has been in trouble ever since.
Parents, TALK WITH YOUR KIDS!! Even if they turn their heads as if they are not listening, they are. Your ONE talk with them could keep them safe.
BOYS.... LISTEN!! YOU CAN GO TO JAIL and be listed as a SEX OFFENDER for life if you do not know the law. Best thing is to stay away from having sex...period! Life is long, and time will come for you to find the right one and a LEGAL AGED one to share that moment of glory with. It is not worth the risk, of JAIL, parenting a child out of wedlock, or even worse..... of catching a disease that will never leave your body and will keep you from ever having pleasurable sex again! If you don't believe me.... look at some pictures of STD victims on the web. If those pictures don't grab your attention, then you need help. Just put in the search bar: Pictures of STDs. Click on some of those links. They're a real wake up call!!!
This is a note to the educators in Chico Texas. Please have a lesson in grammar with your students before they post on this blog. The lack of punctuation and incorrect spelling is quite disturbing.
Right now, stop what you're doing, go get your kids' cell phones, read their text messages and look at their photos. Privacy, you say? I say it's your duty to protect your kids from their own BAD choices. And if you don't do it, you deserve every bit of heartbreak and embarrassment that comes your way. Unfortunately, your kids will pay the price for your desire to be "trusting and open."
I asked my ninth grade students yesterday how they would react if their parents went through their messages and pictures. About a third responded "My parents already do that." Close to two-thirds responed "I'd go ahead and kill myself before they killed me." A handful responded "My parents couln't take my phone. I wouldn't let them."
I just wonder how many of you people have had these 13 year old "children" show up at your door in the middle of the night with low cut tops and boobs bigger than mine??? Yes their age may be young but I bet these girls have done things I wouldn't even dream of!! And most the time the parents are dropping them off!!! And how many of you at 17-18 made good adult choices??? The age of an adult should be 21...and even then you still make stupid choices!! Hello people!!!!
Parents just need to mind their own business when it comes to their kids' sexuality. If they had in this case, we wouldn't have the embarrassment of this story plastered all over the newspaper and web.
12:36, God WANTS it to happen, don't you understand that? If God didn't want it to happen, then he wouldn't have designed girls and boys with the ability to make babies and have the hormones to want to try when they're as young as 12 or 13.
Let me get this straight. Some of you people are such perverts you honestly think it's appropriate for 13 year old children to have sex with 18 year olds?
Sounds like Chico is perv central and local law enforcement needs to step up their game and start arresting more Chico pedophiles.
12:41 Amen. Same goes for drinking and pot. It's none of the parents damn business what their kids do. Just put a roof over their heads, give 'em a safe place to drink and smoke pot, feed 'em, and leave 'em alone.
These girls should be to blame as much as the guys. What guy is not going to have sex with a girl who is more than willing? Sending naked pictures to the guy and sneaking out of her house to see the guy was her choice. The boy is 18 but whats one year if he was 17? She should be in as much trouble as him. I know plenty of guys who date younger. The guys should not be in this much trouble unless you want to make the girls in just as much trouble. Yes they might be young but they knew what they were doing. They wanted sex just as much as the guys did or they wouldn't have been sendig naked pictures to the guys Parents should watch their kids a little more!
Certain members of the Alvord School Board must have thought if the election didn't turn out the way they were hoping they wouldn't be able to extend Chaney's contract.
This boy was 17 when the consentedsexual encounter occurred, it is being labeled an assault because of the girls age. Is it right? Nope not based on what has been said occurred, however, the law is the law. The girls and other boys that were also involved in this need to have their names published in the paper too. It is so not fair that this one boy is getting all the blame for this when there were a dozen or more students involved. The girl needs to speak up and let her parents know she consented and moreover encouraged this to happen and go from there instead of ruining this guys life.Just remember, she is going to have to testify as to what happened....wonder if she will tell the truth then. By the way I am just a concerned parent, not in any way shape or form involved in this fiasco....thank goodness. However, I do have a child that has had a lot of questions about this. He is 13.
Wonder how long it will take for the DA to prosecute this young man for this alleged assault? The case of a much older man that was arrested for sex with a young girl a year ago still hasn't come to trial. Would much rather see this man tried before this young man.
Honestly, does this really have to do with the education in Chico? No, and this doesn't only happen in Chico, it happens everyday in every town. It is really stupid to think that it only happens in Chico. This case is seriously stupid. The girls knew what they were doing and they should take responsibility for their actions and deal with the fact that they made a bad choice. Don't ruin the boys lives because they were just being boys.
You want to know sad, I was the only parent, other than some of the cafeteria ladies, that sat through the Alvord 3rd - 5th grade assembly of Sgt. Bill Davis' presentation. It was eye opening.
I was shocked beyond words to see the hands of 3rd - 5th graders shoot up when asked who had cell phones, had a Myspace page (I'm talking 3rd, 4th & 5th graders, now) and when asked who knew what the picture of a plant was, (at least 30 - 40 of them knew) it was a pot plant!
Just FYI for those of you parents, who have no time for your child. In the state of Texas, at the age of 10 years old, if they commit a crime THEY (the child) can be tried as a Adult!
Boys will be boys make babies and pass on STD and can cause cervical cancer in girls too young to have sex. Now how many boys step up to pay for diapers, formula, hospital bills? How many take their turn at night feeding and go to work to provide for the baby? Boys who will be boys have girls becoming mothers when they are still babies.
How many girls lives have been ruined because they became a mother at age 15 or younger? How many 14 year olds had abortions? And what did that do to them for the rest of their lives?
The DA is following the law because this has to stop! It is time boys understand if you want to have sex, have sex with someone who is of legal age.
The teacher who ask how many parents checked the text messages had great advice for parents. It wasn't shocking that some kids were so defiant they wouldn't allow their parents to check their phones. Those kids are headed for big trouble sooner or later.
Expect more from the boys and don't let them off the hook. Hold them accountalbe. If you don't, when they get to be 40, they will cheat and still use the same lame excuse!
So if a 13 year old girl tells her parents I'm going to have sex with a Senior football player, the parent shouls say if you really want to, that is o.k. How much sense does that make? Just give her the car keys and tell her have a good time?
anon 1010 i know plenty of guys who date women younger than they are the only difference is that they are dating women not children. the boy should have been smart enough to know that what he was doing was a felony. in his case had this young man wanted to have done the right thing he would have went to the sro or any law officer for that matter and reported the pics that he was sent but he didnt. all to often in society today we do what feels good to us not what is right because people wil look at us funny for that. heres what would have went in this case had the young man been a real man didi right: 1 after hearing what was done the other boys would have taunted him and made fun of him 2 the parents of the girl would have still wanted the young man prosocuted for the pics he showed to the police 3 the other boys parnts would have shut his family out of the chico community for getting thier kids in trouble 4 the other boys would be encouraged to beat this man up for doing right.
if he had of done the right thing well atleast he wouldnt be looking at being labeled as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
to those who are reading this and are 18 looking at having sex with a girl younger than 18 remember that while you enjoy being with a woman when you are locked up you will come to enjoy the loving touch of your cellmate
Listen people, the law is the law. I can't even believe there is a debate on this. READ THE LAWS! Yes, it's ashame this "kid" who is 18 faces these charges, yes, it was ashame that the Crutsinger kid faced charges after driving the car ( while huffing) that killed a classmate, yes, it's ashame. BUT, even if they are likeable "kids" they are ADULTS at 18. They are old enough to KNOW right from wrong, yet they chose to do wrong. Do they think they should be "let off" because they are likeable? Popular? From good families? This is simply about right and wrong decisions. You do the wrong thing, and you will pay....doesn't matter who you are, and that IS the way it should be!!!!!! So shut up and let the law do its job! However, you parents of those little girls who were involved in this should keep those kids under lock and key at home! If you defend their actions, then you best be ready for more of the same as the years go by. Your little girls are very lucky the law protects them right now. I do guess you know they HAVE now a new reputation, right?
8:02 hit it on the nail...so many parents aren't parenting...look at the moms that want to run around wearing the same clothes their teenage daughters wear. Barry Green himself contributes to that MILF expectation that even mothers themselves feel proud of for being called such. Girls are growing up without an understanding of good attention and bad attention and guys expect gals to walk an impossible line of slutiness on one side and innocence on the other. How can we expect young boys and girls to have any moral integrity when parents don't have any for themselves. Too many parents running around trying to be "cool." Parenting means that you often, aren't "cool."
What will happen when and if this goes to court? The possibility of Kylers lawyers putting everyone on the stand is something everyone needs to think about. How are these teenage girls going to handle it? How will this be a fair trail? Everyone in the county knows everyone involved in one way or another. Why when reporters came to town they went to the local grocery store to get their information. How would they know what is going on? Maybe things should have been handle a little different but it was'nt and now after all this time these people are having to relive it all over again. All the rumors that have gone around about the kids involved and their parents may or may not be true.WHO KNOWS? I guess all parents everywhere should be thankful no one thought to press charges back then. And to think someone offered to pay to have this kid beat up, HMMMMMMM what kind of charge would that be?That's alot of what ifs and wondering dont you think.May everyone involved have the strength to deal with what comes next.
yeah, those of you who were talking about the SEX and THE LAW program at alvord, chico had the same thing, almost EVERYONE that was involved left the gym either before or in the middle of the man talking. it was quite rediculous, i think everyone involved should be punished, the girls knew exactly what they were doing, they were telling people about it at school before the end of eighth grade year, so yeah, the guys "did it" with "children". but the so called "children" were basically desperate for it, that's messed up.

Excuse me. Did anyone read the paper? The boy was 17 and the girl was 13. They are both a year older now. They were both teenagers. I blame the parents of these kids just as much as the kids. If they had been parents instead of their friends and letting them run around and doing what ever they wanted to this would not have happened. Parents today do not that the time to watch their children. They just drop them off somewhere and let them go wild. You need to instill some morals into these kids. If they had any they would have thought twise about doing the unthinkable at such a young age. If I had even thought about that at that age I would not beable to walk or sit down. My parents have instilled some morals in me ant I am thankful that they have. My parents were my parents not my friend. They had rules and I went by them because I knew the consequinces. What ever you do you will have to pay for your choices. That is what is going to happen to these kids. i think the kids should be punished but not as a sex afender. I think that all parties should be fined and do some kind of community service. Like going and talking to the schools about having sex before you are an adult. You are really not an adult until you are 21. Most guys are not mature at that age. Girls are dressing like they are hookers.Showing off all that they have and are proud about it. The guys need to realize that who ever they sleep with they are sleeping with everyone that the person has done before them. That goes for the girls to. They need to think about stuff before they do it.

ok a 17 year old boy had consentual sex with a 13 year old girl was this the first time or just the first time she got caught .if she had been raped it would be different.but she left her house with the intention of having sex with theses boys.or boy whatever but should this boys life be ruined because of this she was not forced.how many other times or boys has she had sex with and are they being punished or just this one boy
TO the person who commented that the people of Chico should all just kill themselves, I have this to say to you. Just because you have a issue with Chico doesn't mean that people in Chico have an issue with Chico. The "girl" that everyone is referring to does not and has never lived in Chico. She has transferred into Chico Schools. This could very well be a problem in Jacksboro or Bridgeport either one of the places she has lived. Oh, and by the way the word on the street is that all the freshman girls in Bridgeport have lost their virginity this year too. And while we are at it how about the middle school kids in Decatur that have been having sex. This is not a problem with Chico residents, this is a problem in every school across America. I guess that is what happens when you take God and prayer out of schools.
3:31 Now how does anyone KNOW all the freshman girls have lost their virginity! Duh! This is the Chico School Sex Scandal, not Bridgeport or Decatur since no one has been charged with having sex with a 13 year old. Pointing the finger down the road or saying everyone is doing it doesn't make it better.
God is NOT out of our public schools and I don't think praying would keep this from happening. Good sex education, parental supervision and older high school boys being a little afraid of going to jail if they mess with the wrong girl would have gone a long way to keep this from happening.
The backwoods mentality of Chico just astounds me. One thing for sure, I bet no more students transver in but a lot transfer out!
How about something good about Chico. The girls softball team did awesome this year. There are a lot of great people in Chico and we aren't going to let a handful of kids tear the town apart.
This allegedly happened during the summer between 8th and 9th grade for the 13 year old who had an August birthday. This girl had a lack of supervision due to her mom's interest in someone other than her dad--go figure. I don't believe this girl's dad was the intiator, it was a 14 year old girl who was with a guy a year older--immoral, yes...illegal, no. I believe dad is just venting his anger over betrayal from mom at the cost of a young man. Get the facts right-this started as statutory rape because of the age difference, but this 13 year old did not go all the way according to the story she has told both boys and girls. The interesting part of this whole ordeal is that nothing was reported by the girls, it would have gone under the radar just like it does everywhere else if the Tate daddy hadn't been suspisious of his questionable daughter. These girls relentlessly persued these guys for many months---the only people out there who think that they could have been ignored is the moms of girls only.
People---Stop being so judgemental!!! Don't you realize gossiping about this is just as wrong as the involvement. Shame on all of you who continue to involve students just by association with those few involved. Don't be so pompous to think your kids are perfect...Good kids make bad choices...It's not what your kids do, it's how you react as a parent.
Ok! All this going on about this is stupid! seriously. if people are saying that she DIDNT go all the way and she didnt have sex with him then what is the big ordeal? Drop it and move on!
Thank you wise county messenger for removing the blogs. GOOD JOB. Why did people insist on blaming each other, when they were all at fault. I just guess no one wanted to stand up and take the blame for their actions. We all need to stop thinking "our child would'nt do this or that" or "NOT my CHILD" We have all been there and its time for these kids to realize that life is not easy. Charges and possible prison for Kyler?????NO! A lesson learned hopefully. Will something like this happen again in Chico probably, just like it does everywhere else. It was no popularity contest for these kids like so many stated. It was a bunch of kids who had been taught right from wrong and alot of sneaking around praying they would'nt get caught but they did and now they have learned hard way of what it could cause. They are all good kids and that is what they ALL are is KIDS. Remember that.
This will be dropped when all the gossip moms in Chico and everywhere else that believe they have perfect children SHUT UP!!!As long as these people keep dragging every loose kid into this innocent kids mom's will continue to be FURIOUS!!!
I KNOW BEING FROM A SMALL COMMUNITY HAS MORE TO OFFER THAN THIS GOSSIP , SO PLEASE PEOPLE LET'S GATHER TOGETHER AND PRAY THAT EVERYONE INVOLVED WILL HAVE A FAIR CHANCE TO TELL THE "TRUTH" . AND PRAY THAT ONE INNOCENT BOYS LIFE ISN'T FOREVER RUINED , EACH CHILD WHO KNOWS THE TRUTH IN THIS JUST NEEDS TO COME FORWARD TO THEIR PARENTS AND HELP PUT THIS UGLY TO REST,

The parents complaining are just jealous their kids are getting some and they aren't.
I live in Chico and don't blame the men, the women here are shrill harpies.
Of course, the men are no prize themselves. Inbreeding is an uglky thing.
Well, maybe this take the heat off of "Alvoid" for a while.
Seems like lori and Karen r posting alot of anonymous quotes on here. Loved the super secret Karen on the news. Greatness
Just another day in Chico, Texas. Yawn.
this is a scandal because the girls who had a list of the most popular boys on campus and set out a goal to see who could sleep with the most of the boys on this list by the end of the summer. not only is this a lifetime movie, but its wrong all-around.
bottom line - when a 17/18 bang a 13/14, it is wrong no matter who dirty she is.
The best part of the whole thing was the terminator interview
"My daughter is, for lack of a better word, dumb. How do I stop her menstrual cycle?"
8:35 - AMEN!!
Just thinking...
"13-year-old freshman." Did she start first grade when she was four?
just sayin'...
love,
gern
Was no list. That's a bs lie that the boys parents started to try to cover there sick bastard sons ass'. No list. Never had been. Ask all the parents involved.
They were 8th graders. That's more bs from Karen and her super secret interview.
8:52.....did you just say 13 "is a little young" for an 18 year old?
your sick!
and you must be a proud dad of one of these boys
Ummm 8:49, you are crazy as hell! Have you ever heard of, "Dismissed in the interest of justice?" I have seen rock solid burglary cases, aggrevated assault cases, and other "violent" crimes, dismissed, for no apparent reason. The DA can refuse the case, ask Jana!!!
PARENTS, it is YOUR job to educate your young adult that "jailbait" does exist! Too many kids in schools these days who have not had "the talk" with their parents. PROTECT your sons/daughters and impress upon them that LAWS do include even the "highy hormoned motivated kid!"
Gotta say, Alvord had a very good speaker speak to ALL age groups at their schools. SEX and the LAW was the topic and kids from elementary to high school got the message. It's just too dang bad that schools have to take on that responsibility.
Maybe the parents of these young men did have that talk and the boys just didn't listen. Well now, see what happens when we don't pay attention to parents who DO KNOW what can happen?
hmmm, let's see - the football team went 0-10 this year because it couldnt score on friday nights, but it did plenty of scoring on the weekends.
just sayin....
double fake rudy
Amen, 8:52. I consider the girls MORE responsible, since they planned the whole thing. who cares how old they are? If they can plan to seduce boys, then they are old enough to suffer the consequences. I, too, would love to be on that jury. How incredibly unfair, unjust, and just plain sad to even consider ruining those boys life when they were set up by little hos.
if the rubber don't fit, you must aquit
The children did something wrong............ hey, I know..... why don't we all get together and give a ton of money to lawyers.
Three things in life are certain.
1. Death
2. Taxes
3. If there is a human tragedy, there will be a butt-sucking lawyer there to make money.
If (that is a hypothetical "if") anyone is a "ho" and a "slut" it would be the 17 year old males who took advantage of the 13 year old female CHILDREN.
Did anyone read the Update this morning?
EXTENDED - The Alvord school board unanimously approved a two-year contract extension for athletic director and head football coach Mike Chaney at last night's meeting. Chaney's contract will run through June 30, 2011
Wow..........what a change
Has anybody looked at any 13 year old girls lately, you can't tell if they are 13 or 30 and act even worse.
10:12, there is a reason for "the change." Just hang in there....
STRATEGY
You who talk about his wonderful and great "system" we have are truly innocents. The "system" fails every day, and people get hurt for mistakes they make in ways far too harsh while others get off easy for major offenses. No, I would NOT trust the system to do anything right at this point. And yes, I do know that 13 yr old are in middle school. That does NOT prevent them from being whores or tramps. They may need couseling, but they also need STRICT consequences and punishment. Another not: if I were on the jury, I WOULD be "the people".
I love high school girls, no matter how old I get they stay the same age.
Triple-double fake Wooderson
We're drugs or alcohol involved?
Will the 17 year olds records be sealed because they are 'juvies, or can they also if charged be tried as adults?
I agree with the 10:50 post. I cant believe you people are blaming those young girls. That is so ridiculous. Those boys are not animals they can control themselves. If those girls walk naked in front of them it is illegal to touch them.
The fact that they are 17 and not 18 yet will probably save them!! They are just lucky. They did the same crime. And yes it is a crime.
Cont..
I am also not saying they should get off scott free. Im saying they need help.
anon 11:16,
well now that you say it, girls kissing girls is awesome. can i come over?
if the girls sending dirty pictures of themselves to the boys was so bad, why did the boys not turn them in when it happen instead of after they nailed them in the school parking lot?
nope, they did not...therefore they guilty!
Call Phil King and Sen. Estes about this.
There's a bill in the Legislature right now that would keep these boys from having to register for life as sex offenders.
If you think the law is dumb -- wait until you meet the lawmaker.
Hi all,
I'm a concerned parent and was just wonderin if I enrolled my young man in something worthwhile like Banjo lessons, would that possibly stim his affinity to having illegal sexual intercourse with underage females.
Can somebody tell me somethin?
http://www.txcn.com/video/?nvid=359722
10:12
what a change?......more like what a joke!
Yes the results would be the same. It dosent matter if the boy or the girl is the one who is 18.
It is a bit strange that these girls were "assaulted" multiple times by the same boys in different locations on different days and they didn't say anything to authorities. I would think if they had said something then the investigation of this incident would not have taken 10 months. Just a thought....
and you wonder why people move out of chico
The only "winners" are the blood thirsty lawyers.
I totally agree with Anita
Awrite. This is a case of hormone's gone wild. Is it legal? HELL NO! But it happens all the time. Guys this age think with the OTHER head and girls that age are so gullible, some will do anything to be with a popular guy.
I'm a teacher, so I see it all the time.
It's sad, but true.
Hey, I heard a church group allowed oral sex on a mission trip.
Now that is sinking pretty......
...er......low.
Sooo,what's everbody talkin about.
I agree with Anita too....everyone involved was in the wrong but the girls should have to pay the same consequences as the boys if it is indeed true that they were the ones that started this whole fiasco.
chaney is not capable of beaing a football coach, so how in the hell can he run an athletic dept? remember when we were playing henrietta 2 years ago and we would had made the playoffs, but chaney did not know the tiebreaker rules so henrietta sat back and watched chaney run the clock out? yeah, henrietta went in our spot that year because they knew the rule and their coaches and fans were laughing at ass.
what a joke. him and trice need to go camping on brokeback mountain
warning to all parents!!!!
don't trust your boys with any girl with blonde hair that is a cheerleader that also plays volleyball and softball....those kind are dangerous and have dads that will go for your throat while letting their daughter get away with everything
jus sayin
Residents of Chico, Texas: please kill yourselves now and spare the intelligent people of Earth from having you pollute our already shallow gene pool.
Thank you.
9:55 (Both of you)
Thank you for so vividly illustrating the quality of the education system in Chico.
STD = Sexually Transmitted Disease
Yep, the pictures will get ya!
Not sure if you want to post this, Barry, but here is one link that will grab some attention. WARNING: GRAPHIC PICTURES!
http://www.avert.org/std-pictures.htm
First 9:55 and 10:15...Do the Chico schools not teach grammar and punctuation? It was almost impossible to read your posts with no punctuation. Ugh.
This is a note to the educators in Chico Texas. Please have a lesson in grammar with your students before they post on this blog. The lack of punctuation and incorrect spelling is quite disturbing.
Parents,
Right now, stop what you're doing, go get your kids' cell phones, read their text messages and look at their photos.
If the fuzz would just leave them alone there would be no problems. Nobody got hurt or injured; everyone will be just fine.
My first was a 13 year old and I was 15. That was 24 years ago.
Why would God let this happen to this 13 year old?
Parents just need to mind their own business when it comes to their kids' sexuality. If they had in this case, we wouldn't have the embarrassment of this story plastered all over the newspaper and web.
Keep in mind, absolutely nothing bad happened.
12:41
Amen.
They wanted sex just as much as the guys did or they wouldn't have been sendig naked pictures to the guys
Parents should watch their kids a little more!
what i want to know is how how can you be popular when you went 0 and 10
double fake bear bryant
Just give her the car keys and tell her have a good time?
anon 1010
i know plenty of guys who date women younger than they are the only difference is that they are dating women not children. the boy should have been smart enough to know that what he was doing was a felony. in his case had this young man wanted to have done the right thing he would have went to the sro or any law officer for that matter and reported the pics that he was sent but he didnt. all to often in society today we do what feels good to us not what is right because people wil look at us funny for that. heres what would have went in this case had the young man been a real man didi right:
1 after hearing what was done the other boys would have taunted him and made fun of him
2 the parents of the girl would have still wanted the young man prosocuted for the pics he showed to the police
3 the other boys parnts would have shut his family out of the chico community for getting thier kids in trouble
4 the other boys would be encouraged to beat this man up for doing right.
if he had of done the right thing well atleast he wouldnt be looking at being labeled as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
to those who are reading this and are 18 looking at having sex with a girl younger than 18 remember that while you enjoy being with a woman when you are locked up you will come to enjoy the loving touch of your cellmate
Meth and 13 year old va-j-js, I used to have a little pride for being from Chico, but Decatur ruined me.

They need to think about stuff before they do it.

you can sure the f say that again..!!
ok a 17 year old boy had consentual sex with a 13 year old girl was this the first time or just the first time she got caught .if she had been raped it would be different.but she left her house with the intention of having sex with theses boys.or boy whatever but should this boys life be ruined because of this she was not forced.how many other times or boys has she had sex with and are they being punished or just this one boy
Hey I got something positive about chico............................................Wait, come back to me later.
anon 8:02 i guess sluts will be sluts too! FYI I'm a girl!
These girls relentlessly persued these guys for many months---the only people out there who think that they could
have been ignored is the moms of girls only.
