Anybody else hear that huge BOOM that rocked Decatur at 1:36 p.m. ?
Edit: Got confirmation that it rattled Bridgeport and Paradise.
Edit: Heck, it was heard in northern Tarrant County.
Edit: If it was a sonic boom, it's the loudest one I've heard in 20 years.
Edit: The bloodhounds at Fox 4 are on the case.
Edit: Star-Telegram now has the answer.

I said "excuse me". What more do you want?
I did! It made the windows shake.
Kind of like when I'm with you!
WHAT WAS THAT! I'm in Decatur, but they felt it in Bridgeport too.
Yes...my guess is that is was an aircraft breaking the sound barrier. It was a sharp crispy boom. Not like the boom when the crusher blast. Just a guess though.
happened up here at the lumber yard, shook the whole freakin building....
The blast concussion, from a blast at one of the quarries in Chico, was heard and felt in Runaway Bay. The low clouds and humidity made keep the sound low to the ground.
it is not even dec 12, 2012.
or is it?
I'm in Keller - heard and felt it.
dumb people. we get those every few weeks 'round these parts.
We heard it in Boyd, also.

Just one of the crushers pulling a shot. Sometime, just like today, they will rattle your toenails.

Heard ig also... sounded like a sonic boom. We seem to be getting more and more of those lately. I thought they had "outlawed" making sonic booms because of the window destruction earlier ones continualy caused? Strange that it covered so much area though, almost was like the sonic boom heard when the shuttle exploded last. I remember that series of booms very well. I was in Decatur then too. If anyone has any confirmation as to what it was, please post. Thanks!
Several threads on twitter, including this one from Channel 4!
I was in Denton, but did not hear it.
I have worked at a Quarry for 33 years it was not a rock blast.
Anybody know anything for sure? I'm guessing sonic boom cause it was LOUD!!!
In Bridgeport.
I work south of Cabella's on I-35, came in loud and clear here
I live just south of Decatur (but before New Fairview thankfully) and stepped out the door after hearing it. Couldn't see them with the clouds, but could hear what sounded like a couple of planes.
All this talk of sonic booms reminds me of when I was a kid (born in 1955). I used to hear sonic booms all the time (up until the mid 60's?). Then, they cracked down on the military and made them go supersonic only in certain areas of the country and only at certain minimum altitudes. Nowadays, sonic booms really get our attention, because they're so rare! Literally, a blast from the past.
I heard it on the grapevine.
Double fake Creedence Clearwater

For those that just KNEW it was the quarry:
An F-16 that went supersonic during a Lockheed Martin test flight Thursday afternoon in North Texas rattled a few people on the ground.
The sheriff's departments in Tarrant and Wise counties reported that citizens called about a possible explosion in the early afternoon Thursday. The noise was actually a sonic boom caused by the fighter jet flying faster than the speed of sound waves, which is about 700 mph.
Lockheed Martin test pilots go supersonic fairly regularly in a corridor that runs roughly from Alliance Airport to southern Oklahoma.
"All of the aircraft we deliver have to prove they can fly supersonically," said Norman Robbins, a spokesman for the F-16 plant. "They're normally done at high altitude" and aren't generally noticed by people.
But Thursday's humidity is suspected as the cause for the especially loud noise.
"The humidity makes the air thicker and accentuates the boom," Robbins said.
Dude, that was my meth lab blowin up.

It was the shotgun start at the golf tournament. I was here.
