Not On My Court!

Minnesota High School AD goes medieval on punk kid who interrupts basketball game. (And kudos to the production value of the video - with the exception of the last 3 1/2 minutes being dead air.)

I watched that video several times and I have no issue with anything that occurred in that sequence.

And as a matter of fact, and this is something most of you don't know because you know nothing about basketball, I teach that specific tackling technique at my basketball clinics, not that it really matters or that you really care.

All that was missing was a forearm shiver to the back of punko's melon.

I love the way the donut eaters come running up to "take charge" of the situation about 45 seconds after the perp is taken down to Chinatown, bayyybeeeee!

Great legs on the cheerleader after the tackle.

Jarhead, you double-dribbled. You'll need to stay after practice today for some special tutelage.

If that kid is under 18 I think Mr. bad-ass AD gets to go to jail for assaulting a minor. I'm pretty sure the kid wasn't in violation of any laws, nor a clear and present danger to anyone. As adults we are not allowed to use physical force to discipline children just because we think they are being rude. The cops cuffed the wrong idiot in my opinion. At the very least, there will be a lawsuit.

What a powerful, forceful man.

The part of this story you don't see in the video is that the team who this kid was from started pelting everyone with eggs. Which is hilarious.

Only idiots want to criminalize kids being kids.

5:21 & 5:58

So did the kid do anything wrong, or is it his parents fault??? Should we blame the system??? Should we blame "The Man"??? Was he really being disciplined or was he being detained for trespassing and being a public nuisance???

In MY opinion, YOUR opinion smells of weiner poopie.

So tell us 5:21 and 5:58, what would you do if YOUR kid interrupted a high school basketball game???

ground him? take away the car? not tackle him, what kind of example is that? what century is this?

In spite of your failure to address the legality/criminality of the incident, I will answer your specific question. If my kid did something harmless, as this kid seems to have done, and you as an adult assaulted him, I would take your sorry ass down and deliver unto you a life's lesson that would leave you hurting for a good long time. I would then deal with my minor child as I see fit, as is my right and prerogative as his parent. You, however sanctimonious you purport to be, and in spite of the donut-eaters complete inability to understand and enforce the law, will never be allowed to assault my minor child.

And jarhead, you should re-think your belligerent attitude as well. It doesn't smell very wise or legal. Seems you may have forgotten having been an adolescent at one time.

You know, Barry, I can appreciate your throwing this stuff out there and watching us go at it. However, as an attorney and the author-in-chief here, do you think it might be appropriate to occasionally enter the fray with an expert opinion?

Naaaaaaaaaa.

I'm torn. I was fine with seeing the kid taken down, then wondered if there would be a lawsuit for some mystery injury. However, if the kid was from one of the schools involved in the game, it should have been handled by school administration if there was no criminal activity on his part (doubtful). The amount of force used was way over the top since none was called for.
Stupid kid? Oh, yeah!Inappropriate response? You better believe it. As someone else has pointed out, assaulting a minor by an adult is a big mistake. However, if that was my kid I would not press charges against the AD, maybe just an apology. Then, the kid would catch all kinds of hell when he got home, oh yeah!

He's one of those jaded kids that you see everywhere now...they call them Emo's (emotionally disturbed or detached) that identify themselves by wearing hoodies and those skinny jeans.

Well...As a "donut eater", I guess I would have probabley let the school finish what it started there. We are not often welcome to handle things in schools unless there are bodies hittin the floor. But! When they ask us to, WE LIKE TO BEAT ON SOME PUNKAGE!

And BTW...me thinks BG comments more often than you think...anonymous...has many faces.

An over reaction and a bad choice on the coach's part. He almost took the cheerleaders out like bowling pins.

The kid needed to be suspended - not face busted and handcuffed.

The punk needed to be handcuffed and have his face busted. A cop couldn't exercise that kind of required discipline so it was done by a citizen who was obviously acting in self defense. I think the young asshole may have learned a valuable lesson.

I don't think it would have taken much for that fat butt to have hurt that kid. He was falling and out of control. He should be fired. Not only could he have hurt that kid, he could have hurt someone else. He was not using good judgement.

I'd be willing to bet this wasn't the first time this punk pulled this kind of a stunt.
