Obviously, this war has really "gone to the dogs"!
I am 100% in support of our troops. BUT some of them are just jerks. The other service men will thank him for the negative attention.

Very disturbing! I could barely watch a small portion of one video. There are 5 in all.
I wish very bad things would happen to those soldiers who were involved in these horrific videos.

The word "jerk" doesn't even begin to cover this low-life. He should be prosecuted. I can't stand to think what this inhumane fool would do to inoccent children who stepped into range of his gun if he thought no one was looking.

Seriously, though ~ every organization has its share of dumbasses and the Marine Corps is no exception. And I was one of them to be sure. I did some of the dumbest, craziest stuff in my life when I was a Jarhead (NEVER killing for amusement, however)
This isn't shocking or isolated. There are some sick fucks in the Corps. But for the most part, the Marines I knew (and know) are motivated, loyal and patriotic individuals; nothing like this moron. I guarantee you that this video is an outrage to current and former Marines everywhere. I'll bet we'll see this shitbird hung out to dry.
And you know where s#*t rolls--it rolls downhill!

Two things...
1. The blog world is indicating that this did not really happen. Apparently they somehow created the video for the shock value. Not sure how, but that is what I have read out there.
2. Even if it did, remember that the % of 'bad apples' in the military is actually lower than in the real world. The statistics I have read indicate that the % of 'soldiers' committing any crime is actually lower than the % in the general population. That in no way defends this action (if it is real), but let's not paint the military as bad.
And yes, I do realize that 74% of all statistics are made up.
There is every likelihood it is a FAKE VIDEO. If the video is not a fake the guy is a sociopath and needs a section 8 and be prosecuted for animal cruelty.
Incidentally, since the guy/ David Matori is a Marine he is NOT a "soldier" he is a Marine. If he were a soldier he would be in the Army.
I can't believe this is real! No one is that stupid. Look at Michael Vick. OJ killed two people and he didn't go to jail. If he had killed the dog that would be another story.
Folks, this video may or may not be real but the impact is real. Of course not all military are heroes and certainly not all are vicious jerks - like this guy appears to be. Painting with an overbroad brush is dangerous all of the time.
Back in my days in the Army, the rest of the squad would have thrown him a "blanket party" and, if he lived through it, he would be a verpy different person!
I hope the video is a fake.
Regardless if it is or isn't, some discipline is called for. How is the military supposed to win a war among people who regard them with some ambivalance (to say the least) when stunts like this, fake or not, make the news? Is our success not dependent to a great degree on the trust and cooperation we are trying to establish among the Iraqis and Afghans?

Easily could be a fake. Note that the puppy goes out of site briefly before it (or a fake) is thrown. It looks inanimate as it falls to the ground, but then again, I've never seen a puppy plunge to its death.
My Aunt had the sweetest horse when I was just a babe. She actually tied me securely to his saddle with soft cloth diapers and would walk several miles leading him around town with me bobbing on the saddle. Those were some of the the most glorious times I have ever experienced.
Eventually, I got old enough to ride him by myself......he'd carry me a hundred times around the town's rodeo arena ring. He really didn't mind, because the sand was soft, and I always brought a pocketful of sugar cubes to feed him. When he got tired, he would just sit down, and slightly roll to the right, notifying me it was time to quit. I'd step off, and lead him home to his corral and give him a nice big bucket of sweet feed.
When my Aunt got too old to care for him, she gave him to me, and we brought him to our farm. I didn't ride him much after that, because he had gone blind, and was getting very old and worn out.
One day, Old Partner didn't come when I called him at feeding time. Several days later, my dad found him at the bottom of a canyon........Dad knew where to look because of the circling buzzards.
Sorry to bother y'all, but the puppy potentially being thrown off the cliff reminded me of Old Partner. Just thought I would share that with ya.

Dear 6:25 that story drove Old Partner to suicide.
Rest assured, folks. If this is real, and if it creates a furor (which it probably will), all the commanding officers leading down to this marine are going to be really mad that they are having to deal with this--and they will most likely see to it that the "buck stops" with him! And it won't be pretty!

I'm sorry but,with the wholesale horror that humans are dishing up in that corner of the world on each other, it's a little hard for me to get worked up over the death of a dog.
