She is obviously an idiot. However, that usually doesn't hurt you in journalism.

I think she should have been suspended at the very least...however, I am a little surprised.

the station ran it, so therefore, she should not be held responsible. it was a bad piece, but it was a piece that was aprroved.
when the messenger (the edc story) or the index (the column about pointer) ran in the paper, is it the writers fault or the editors fault?

Will she be made to apoligize to the business owner like Don Imus was demanded to apoligize to Al Sharpton?

That, folks, is known as facing the consequences of your actions. She had the "right" to pursue the story the way she did; the station had the "right" to run it; and the public had the right to bludgeon the station until it "realized" the right thing to do.

The media should all have to face the consequences for their actions. Unfortunately, that is rarely the case.

Princess Diana was a non-entity to me, but she deserved better than dying in a high-speed chase with the paparazzi who had the "right" to pursue her. They should all be facing manslaughter charges (or whatever the Euro-version of that charge is.)

5:22
The NEWSPAPERS stated the facts.
Both news worthy!!! Poyner did something considered illegal and basicaly got off free while the others had to pay fines. EDC did something that seems to be shady. They lost 110,000 of our money and got nothing in return. Now with Rebecca she harassed an older man who was protecting hisself and his property.
How can you compare them 5:22?

Wow, breaking news happens here on Liberally Lean. I'll bet they did it because of this blog.

I notice that the link is to the Dallas Observer. I hope someone verified that story through a credible source. The DO is a rag. It doesn't even have the entertainment value of a cash register tabloid. The only reason they get by is that the law on libel is so watered down that the subject of any made up story they print essentially has no protection. Did you guys read the comments under the story? I can't believe that there are people who would actually recriminate this man. They were sitting around thinking of alternatives to shooting the burglars. One guy said he could get an electric fence. Right, and if he had a bazillion dollars, he could encase the whole junkyard in titanium, too. However, a shotgun is cheaper. What I don't understand is why the old guy has to buy a new shotgun. If there are no charges, he should get the gun back from the police upon request.

Why did Diana have to die in a "High Speed" crash?

Why couldn't the driver have driven the normal speed and got her to where they needed to go safely and/or call the police if they felt the paparazzi were creating traffic/safety problems for them as they drove to this location at a resonable speed?

I know we're not as civilized as the big city but people here don't have any problems calling the Sheriff's Dept. if someone does anything they done like on the highway these days.

If Rebecca Aguilar ambushed any elderly around me.. I would of been "trigger happy and shot to kill..." her!

Poor man was crying and shaking!

Taken frion a response on the Magazine's blog in rresponse to the story:

"I would think calling the police 42 times would be "another option the old man could have tried instead of deadly force" but after that became futile then what? Hurl painful insults at the burglars?

Too funny! I can see it now...
"And if you don't go away, I shall taunt you a second time!"

The thugs deserved what they got! The poor old man had the right to protect his property junk or not! Shoot first call cops later!!! I would do the same thing! I bet that reporter would sing a different song if it were her house being broken into. She deserved to be fired!

She was trying to pull the "minority power trigger" on the old fella and it backfired. Too funny. I am sure she is also one who believes all illegals should get here however they can and get all they can for free. I am glad I don't have to listen to her frick'n rolling "R's" for a while when she pronounces her name. Hopefully, I won't ever have to her it again. Hey, maybe she will get a job in Mexico.

Reality = journalists who make news "sensational" win awards and climb the ladder of dung.

It's okay if she wants to be a female Geraldo Rivera; Texas isn't the best place to do it...
