Loved This . . .

. . . picture today from the front page of the Dallas Morning News (taken at yesterday's march in Jena.)

Edit: This photo isn't quite as heartwarming.

And on an unrelated note, I laughed at this Letter to the Editor. (Sixth one down entitled "Neiman's glitz tarnished.")

That is a funny photo. Wonder what those protesters are thinking about that little ole white man.

I bet there were alot of hand-did signs at that protest.

Is that the little guy from the Six Flags commercials?

The only way to keep em out of your front yard is to hang one in your back yard!

Hehe... do you see the AK47 barrel sticking out the bathroom window?

2:02 - are you kidding me? Wake up, it's 2007.

I saw the photo and read the article about the 18 year old in Alexandria, LA and I think we should hold a rally and demand justice. He may have been drunk and contributing to a minor, but there is no way driving around town in Jena with hangman nooses on the tailgate of his truck was "inciting a riot" or a "hate crime". That's just part of their cultural heritage... Where's a Grand Dragon when you need one?

hey i was happy there were no lines at the welfare ofice and no lines at churches chickenn i am glad they went there i just hope the bus gets lost on the way home

a friendly elder, nothing wrong with that.

Well aside from the DWI & Contributing to a Minor, it is absolutely their right to brandish nooses if they so desire.

And the greatest affront to God's green earth here was the murder of an innocent tree. A living entity with more grace, value and sense than all the rest of the participants. Are we really this crappy of an excuse of a species that the best we could do was murder the tree? That's embarrassing.

Now let me get this straight.

Blacks and whites were fighting throughout the year due to racial tension.

Someone burned down the High School.

A black student is beaten up at a party and the following day is threatened with a shotgun, which he took away from the guy and then was charged with stealing the gun and disturbing the peace.

Then a white student is beaten unconscious by a group of black students.

Six black student were thrown in jail and charged with 2nd degree murder.

Americas black leaders gather their followers by the thousands in Jena to protest the injustice; and I'm sure law enforcement and the locals of the community were fearful of violence.

7:50 PM then states,

"And the greatest affront to God's green earth here was the murder of an innocent tree."

Save the trees and jail the black kids! Ruin the kids lives but save the tree!

What planet do you tree hugging idiots come from? There is no way you can be human! Since you mention God, do you really think that tree is more important to God than His own children?

I'm embarressed that you try to include me with your "species"! Your more comparable with feces!

Kindest personal regards,

Denney Crane

Sadly, Justin Wilson died in 2001 just before the fiasco of 911.

Jena is probably not Cajun either since they are north of Alexandria and close to Mississipi. It's probably the Six Flags Guy.

I'm not a tree hugger, but why didn't the tree huggers protest the cutting of the tree? Hillary should have sponsored an old fashioned hippie love-in. She and some of these others remind me of the time that I remember as a kid in Miami, FL in the early 70's - the hippies made the local park a bad place to go, with smoke pouring out of the vans and cherry bombs in the trash cans. Then the thugs we took in from the prisons of Jimmy Carter's favorite guy, Fidel Castro, made it completely unliveable. Even the blacks moved out of there.

Notice the African looking flags they are carrying. This is the USA, not Nigeria, Liberia, Sudan, or Mexico.

Besides, I believe that those people would absolutely hate any of these countries I just mentioned.

I can hear them now:
"Please, I want to go back to Jena, as backward as it is."

The comments on this particular blog wreak of ignorance!

Protesters need lap band just like soon to be noosed sports writer Robert Morgan. He is on a mission like these folks to PISS everybody off, but in Texas our hangman noose is on a Dodge (U can pull 5 or 6 @ a time, without 4x4)

Denney Crane said...

You can put 7 or 8 nooses on a mature tree, but if you drag the tree with people attached, get ready for rioting in the streets and the Democratic party led by Al Gore will instigate a rally and sell green credits!

Dear 8:06
Wreak: v. 1. to inflict or execute (punishment, vengeance, etc.): They wreaked havoc on the enemy.
2. to carry out the promptings of (one's rage, ill humor, will, desire, etc.), as on a victim or object: He wreaked his anger on the office staff.

I think you meant to use the word reek. If your comment is meant to shame someone into feeling ignorant, it falls short of that purpose. You, my friend are the one who displays ignorance.

For the first time ever, I agree with your entire post......and I consider the environment a very important issue, but you put it into perspective. Way to go.
I can't help but think 7:50 is pulling our legs. Surely he/she is just trying to get a reaction. SURELY he/she doesn't really feel that way.

7:10----- Feel good to be the fish that didn't bite the hook??? Good for you! And even so you missed half the point. Friend Denney, on the other hand, Is Charlie the Tuna. Don't they have, like, morphine or something you should take in great abundance to put us out of your misery? Hell, at least have the decency to wear a dunce cap while you write.

Oh, and yes, denney, I do in fact thik the tree is more important to god thann "his children". The trees were here LONG before we showed up and they will be here LONG AFTER we're gone. They seem a little less destructive than we have proven to be as well. If you were god which would make you more proud?

Misspelling a word is a lot less ignorant that these racist comments about nooses, flies, fried chicken, colored folks, etc. I'm with you, 8:06.

MZ Chief - thanks for the compliment. I try to be a voice of reason.

7:09 - Since you made the effort to explain why someone might think some of the comments were ignorant, I have to agree with you. However, I can't let someone get away with both making a vague general statement and including a misuse of a word. Thank you for being specific this time.
