This appeared in the Dallas Morning News today.I'm not sure if many metroplex readers will understand it. But if I recall correctly, around 1990, over a series of months, a number of people were arrested at the rest stop along 287 near Alvord for alleged homosexual activity. Yep, it was illegal back then. There were allegations that those arrested were directed by Sheriff's personnel to a particular bail bond company to make the cases "go away".

i remember this. i think there were many dozens of arrests, and a substantial number of them were completely bogus.
didn't one of the deputies involved end up committing capital murder?
and weren't some other deputies found to be providing security detail for meth labs?
and didn't the sheriff get arrested in a neighboring county for DWI in his county vehicle?
as I recall, it was around this time that the sheriff (Mr. Leroy Burch) decided it might be a good time to get out of town, so he went to Tennessee and worked pouring concrete on a road crew during the last several weeks (months?) of his term of office, while still collecting his sheriff's pay.
I could see Mark Davis in some airport rest room tapping his foot like a re-run episode of "My Three Sons".
Something about that guy gives me the creeps ...
And also who was the County DA when The Burch Gang was setting up the Homo Traps?
I believe his name was John Yarborough. He was Leroy Burch's Chief Deputy and ran the "sting operation" at the rest area north of Decatur.
He was later convicted of murdering a gay man at a rest area near Alvarado and sentenced to death. He died in prison.

I like the spin the Sheriff's Department's website put on Leroy Burch. Poor 'ol Leroy, it wasn't his fault we are near Ft.Worth.
Honestly, I don't really care if Larry Craig blows some guy in the bathroom, even if it makes him a hypocrite.
Wise county has to be the most f-ed up place on the entire planet. I wake up every morning wondering 1) why I moved here and 2) why I still live here.

Larry Craig should simply change to the Democratic Party. They would accept him with open arms and work tirelessly to keep his gay butt in the Senate. He could say that he had only realized that he was a Democrat only pretending to be a sane person. He and Speaker Pelosi could put a double whammy on the good old USA.
I thought I read somewhere Yarborough died. I might be wrong about that part.
The District Attorney is not the one who prosecute public lewdness cases (a misdemeanor) that would have been the County Attorney.
