Touching

Bush #41 breaks down as he talks about his son, Jeb, on the floor of the Florida legislature. It's a video from USA Today so it's not as fast loading as youtube.com. But it's worth the brief wait. I've never seen him this emotional, and it seems like the last few years have taken a toll of him.

The emotion is brought on by recalling the lies, dirty tricks and despicable behavior of the Democrats.

So you're right; the last few years have taken a toll.

Wordchild....."glass houses."

How about emotion because his coke snorting/alcholic son not only ran every company he was with into the ground but now he has ran this country into the ground. He has killed more Americans with a country that had nothing to do with 911 and put the entire war on a credit card that I dont know how we will ever pay it off.

If he was my son ... I would cry too. I can hear him now ... Son .. How could you be sooo stupid?

This was an old man who was feeling as any father would feel who loved his child. Don't think politics had anything to do with this particular display of emotion.

Any good parent hurts when their child hurts. Age has little to do with it.

Give the old man a break. Let him cry. He has plenty to cry about and maybe some of the political mistakes are coming home to roost.

He probably went home and got a kick in the a$$ from mama Barbara. Bet that old gal eats tacks and nails for breakfast.

Maybe we should have had Barbara Bush for president!! She's quite a powerful personality!

George H had the most impressive resume of any candidate in modern history and didn't too well probably because 12 years of republican rule had worn us down to the point we chose Clinton. George W had no resume except what Daddy purchased for him and we haven't done too well. Jeb on the other hand did it on his own and appears to be respected by friend and foe. 50yr from now George W is going to look even worse after all his co conspirators write their memoirs and we find out what really went on. The realy tragedy in all this is that George W has probably guaranteed that Jeb doesn't get a shot at the White House.

The Republicans wanted to run Jeb for president and knew George W was an idiot. Jeb would have made a better President "Hands Down" and we Democrates knew it ... But ...

Jeb was having an affair while he was married and coming off the Clinton morality scandal there was no way to run him. They knew a good argument could be made for George W's Coke & alchol problem .. evryone loves a coked up drunk :)

Yep it was better to keep that skeleton in the closet and buy his moron son the job.

What galls me is that SMU wants the Bush Library.

What for? So they can list his bumbles and bobbles while in office?

Waco wants it too.

This world is nuts......nuts!

I don't know about Jeb's extra-marital issues (do they really matter?). It does appear to me that he would have been a much stronger (and much more intelligent) president than his older brother. I can almost feel Dad's pain lamenting over what Jeb could have done vs. the mess George W. has created.

Jeb's extra-marital issues did really matter. How else were they going to fool the bible belt? I hope America has learned that Politics and Religion should not mix. I heard over and over again that the voters in Wise County felt that the Democrats were not giving the voters a choice. Mark Autry is a perfect example of what they were looking for.. Most of Wise County are really Blue collar at heart and would vote Blue Dog Democrat if the choice was there. Whom ever reads this please do some research and see if most of your standards including religion aligned up with us Blue Dogs.

And oh yeah ... You WILL NOT see any Republicans come out and say Jeb's affair while being married is a lie ;)

8:09 - I'm a Yellow Dog Democrat. Does that count?

9:02 AM - GHWB is just another member of the elitist, corrupt, money grubbing Bushco. Study up on Grandpa, The Carlyle Group, Neil and all his/their f(r)iends. The old man, GHWB, was just blubbering at the fact that his little dream was busted by the real American public, the silent majority, not the narrow-minded, neo-con, evangelical, sheeple who have so boldly during the last several years, attempted to lay claim to America......but, according to the last election, THEY LOST!

ANON 8:55 PM et al: My first post was not a generic jab at Democrats' abhorrent behavior (although that is always fun and usually accurate.) I was referring to what actually happened:

"[Bush] broke down in tears mentioning his son, Gov. Jeb Bush, as an example of leadership and the way he handled losing the 1994 governor's race to popular incumbent Democrat Lawton Chiles. He vaguely referred to dirty tricks in the campaign.

"In 1994, Jeb Bush appeared to be on his way to victory. The final debate between Chiles and Bush is largely seen as the turning point in the closest governor's race in state history. But just before the election, the Chiles campaign made 70,000 bogus phone calls to elderly voters claiming to be from independent groups. Callers portrayed Bush as a tax cheat and said his running mate, Tom Feeney, wanted to abolish Social Security and cut Medicare."
(source: AOL News)

So Bush became emotional when speaking of the grace and dignity his son exhibited in the face of his opponent's dirty tricks.

"Grace and dignity" -- you Liberal Democrats ought to look those words up in the dictionary.

Grace and dignity? Dumbkyle, you just must be kidding! Have you heard of Karl Rove? Melhman? DeLay? The convicted GOP phone jammers in NH? The Republicans, neo-cons and right wing extremists exhibit none of the grace and dignity you so venerate. You appear to be hopeless.

ANON 12:07 PM: In light of my comments, your point is....? (Note: pulling names out of the air for no reason is not a point.)

The last Democrat who displayed any grace or dignity got run out of the party. (Joe Lieberman)

You have to actually open the dictionary and turn to the proper page. Three new items to look up now: "relevant," "pertinent," and "non sequitir."

So Wordkyle ... No Comment on the affair while married?

You silence is GOLDEN ...

No comment that Jeb is brighter than Geo W?

More Golden ...

Maybe you have nothing to say because either it is ALL true (which it is) or maybe you have no knowledge of the party you so happy beat the drum for?

ANON 4:37: I try to limit the number of idiotic lies I dignify with responses, and you're over the limit. I doubt that discerning readers will mistake my not answering your bleats as conceding that you're right.

However, regarding the Democrat rumor about Jeb Bush's alleged "affair": "We were content never to write about a rumor that had no basis in fact and would have remained that way." Mark Silva, political editor, Orlando Sentinel. (Until Jeb had to address it in public because the Dem trash machine had gone into full throttle.) Source: Washington Post

"Jeb brighter than George W." 1) What is your evidence? 2) What does it matter?

Anonymous said...

In 2001 three witnesses who will attest that Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Florida’s Secretary of State Katherine Harris have had an affair.

All three witnesses also have apparently passed lie detector tests.....

You seem to be the only Republican around that missed the bus on this one. Please take your blinders off or get off your high horse.

ANON 10:05 PM: "2001...three witnesses..." (yawn)

National Enquirer. Star. No proof. No evidence. Again. (yawn)
