Barry, I think you left out a very important part of Mr. Gates answers yesterday...He also said that the US wasn't losing either.
While it's useless to debate with Wise Co red necks, I'll suggest that Gates is no wide-eyed liberal. However, he knows that our policy in Iraq has been a disaster and needs changing. It remains to be seen whether myopic and simplistic Bush will ever accept the errors of the past and start begin a different course in dealing whit his mess in Iraq.
