Reflective

I've been following, perhaps as you have, the story of the lost James Kim family in Oregon. They disappeared on a family getaway in a remote part of the state shortly after Thanksgiving. Two days ago, his wife and two young children were found alive but James wasn't with them as he had decided to go for help some time earlier. Today his body was discovered. James Kim worked for CNET, a technology information company, which has a great web site. Over the last six months, they have been at the forefront of video and Kim's last video about "what I want for Christmas" is here. Stuff like this just stops me down. Life is no guarantee. There are no promises for tomorrow.

He should have stayed in the car with his family. He was smart, but didn't have a lot of common sense, apparently, and now, sadly, he is dead. I feel sorry for them. Freezing to death is not a bad way to go, when you are actually dieing from hypothermia. It's just the "getting to that point" that's the bitch.

He seemed like a really nice guy who loved his family. Seems like we need more people like him in the world.

9:25 is correct, you don't leave shelter. If you do decide to leave and go for help, you never leave the road or path you used to get there. People who leave a trail to try and get help are usually the ones who end up dead. If you stay on the path, you stand a chance of getting rescued. If you are in the trees, no one can see you.

I understand it is not your first option to leave shelter if you are in that type of situation. If you were out there almost a week without any sign of help, probably not any food, water b/c of the snow, no heat, and children I cant blame him. It was a last ditch effort to try and save his family quit heroic in my opinion. Would you want to stay around to watch your family starve or freeze to death. Not me...

What I said is not to be critical of the man. What I stated is some of the basics of surviving when lost in the wilderness. It is all based upon statistics. Obviously he was trying to help his family. If had stayed with his family, he he would have been rescued with them and that would be a good thing. I only mention it to give information, not to criticize the deceased.

I Have Finally Been Edited......

......from the Liberally Lean blog's Links section. Thank the [delete] buttons from Above. Haven't been over to the site in months, but after noticing a drop in those "hits" lately (and the cleared air in my own comments section), I wondered, "Maybe?"

Yup. And after perusing the topics & some of the gawd-awful comments today.....and yes, a few Weighing In references (including one misspelling that only made me laugh and utter, "Go figure...."), I'm relieved as hell.

Good riddance. Good bye, and be ye skattered. =)
There you have it mzchief BYE!!!

Hallelujah!

Several weeks ago I noticed a change in the comments on your site and was seriously concerned it might be taken over by the feces flinging chimps from Barry's. However, you tend to NIP in the bud any flinging. I thought the bud nipping is what kept away the flingers. I TRULY appreciate how the commentators on your blog are respectful of each other. YOU deserve the credit when it comes to keeping YOUR blog a civilized environment.

I visit Barry's blog for TWO reasons.
1. MUCH of the time I laugh out loud with such gusto I risk a cerebral hemorrhage when I read SOME the MORONIC comments.
2. Commenting on Barry's blog is a REAL personal test of my resolve to NEVER join in with the chimps and fling feces.

Okay, there MAY be a third and VERY twisted reason....
I TRULY enjoy rattling the cages of the chimps.

To anonySTALKER 5:17...

aaaawwwwwwwww...

YOU really care about ME enough to hunt down and copy and paste MY comments from another blog. How SPECIAL!

Thank you for fulfilling reason number THREE for ME visiting Barry's Blog. You expecting me to leave because YOU do NOT like MY comments is no different than the self-righteous dingbats who EXPECT/DEMAND television and video game producers to discontinue programs and games because YOU dislike the content. Here is a CLUE for YOU. Since YOU aahhh DISLIKE my comments, do NOT read MY comments. Just like with television programs and video games and spinach, do NOT watch/play/eat them.

Incidentally, the feces flingers are NOT far enough up the evolutionary ladder or intelligent enough to be "APES" which is WHY I called them CHIMPS.

YOU truly need to get over ME BEING ME!

*LOL@U*

He had no true skills required to survive in that situation. The world is not a video game. The world is not a feel good movie. You go wandering, you get lost, you can die. Why in the heck did he not backtrack?
