Thank God! But let's not lose sight of how the boy was left outside unattended by his parents. I heard a news report that said the 2-year-old was outside alone for 20 minutes before anyone went to check on him while the parents tended to ant bites on the 4-year-old brother (did the older brother get into ants because he was outside playing with no adult supervision? The news report didn't say, but it sounds pretty fishy...) I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old, and I would never let them play outside unless I could see and hear them at least through the window (and I usually just go outside with them). I would never go 20 minutes with them gone from my sight and out of earshot. That little boy must have been so scared for 3 days!
Please stop 12:51am!! If you have children, you must have had a least a few near misses when something bad could have happened & didn't. If your children are very old, then there had to be times when you found them w/something or somewhere that they didn't belong & something bad could have happened. Thank God it didn't! Don't bash others who weren't so lucky. If your children are young, be careful not to be so critical. Never say never. There but for the grace of God go I. I would hate for you to learn that the hard way.
Let's just be happy & celebrate for the family instead of thinking that people deserve all the bad things that happen to them.:)

You people who are thanking God must be TRULY pissed off that God allowed 3 children to be drowned and a fetus to be cut from its mother's body after she was murdered. Oh wait, that would be an indication of you possessing OBJECTIVE reasoning skills, never mind.
Just a suggestion; you people who worship such a mean spirited, arbitrary, heartless God who would abandon and deliver the most defenseless of “His” children into the hands of a murderer might want to either reexamine YOUR understanding of “God” or pick a new “God.”

You miss the MAIN point in the Christian belief--that God created us with FREE WILL--so that our love for Him would be a true expression, not just an action of an automated robot. People do evil things every day, and that, unfortunately, is their free choice--but it is not approved by God. Your rejection of God is based on an extremely shallow and superficial interpretation of theology and beliefs. Your typical statement of "God is bad because He allowed such and such to happen" is painfully trite.

Mz- I normally find your posts and sense of humor witty but not this time. I think you have a complete misconception of GOD . The world is full of sinners just like you and me and the woman that killed those innocent children. God has a purpose and a plan for each of us and sometimes we may not agree with it but I assure you that God knows what he is doing. You probably do not understand this if you don't have a relationship with Him . Look back in the Bible if you own one. Nowhere in there does it promise a perfect and painless life. Earth is not perfect but Heaven will be. I also do not agree with your comments on the mother whose child wandered from home. You are always so quick to judge others. First and foremost I do NOT reject God. I do however reject the simplistic caricature and humanized version of the "God" most people worship.
Using your humanized understanding of God then how canGod EVER deserve the credit for the GOOD actions of ANY human since we all have "free will" and NOT be equally responsible for the BAD actions of humans with "free will." If your explanation has ANYTHING to do with the fight between God and Satan for the human soul then you will be ceding the point that God is NOT all-powerful and can get "His" arse kicked by Satan.

12:31 AM here again, to 7:57AM and 8:58AM... I still say anyone that lets a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old play outside unattended - - then goes off and leaves a 2-year-old outside alone without checking on him for at least 20 minutes (I'll bet it was longer) deserves at least one visit from CPS. I have had some close calls with my children, even while supervising them. Stray dogs have chased my children around their own yard while I was outside just a few feet away - - but I was there to chase the dogs away before anything bad happened. Accidents can happen right before our eyes, but we should at least TRY to provide proper adult supervision! This kid was 2-years-old in a diaper outside alone for 20 minutes or more! Are you seriously going to justify that?
Can't we all just be friends and love oneanother and make love to each other ?

Sooooooo, what you are saying is that if it was YOUR 2 year old who had been left unattended in an unsecured area with fire ants that wandered off and was lost for 3 days from a day-care facility you would just chalk it up to a "mistake" that was all part of "God's" "plan and purpose" and NOT sue for negligence or attempt to have the day-care facility held responsible? My disagreeing with how most Christians perceive God has NOTHING to do with me knowing "the truth." It has EVERYTHING to do with me NOT buying into the Christian's version of "the truth."
Incidentally, I have made it a principal part of my life's journey to study EVERY known major religion, past and present and I have unwavering respect for the tenets of most of these religions. However, I have an equal amount of distain for the men and the occasional woman whom throughout history bastardized those tenets.
I actually have tremendous respect and understanding of the INFINITE power and UNCONDITIONAL love GOD has for humans. GOD has provided humans everything HUMANS need to create an idyllic reality and has LEFT it to humans to create the reality in which humans live. Though GOD has left humans to create their reality GOD has NEVER abandoned a single human.
Just a note...I NEVER take offense to the things posted on Barry's blog even when they are directed at me and are rude or mean-spirited. I believe that ALL people are ALWAYS doing their very best at EVERY moment, unfortunately it is NOT always their PERSONAL best! In addition, the malignant comments people make are either hysterically funny in that they highlight the moronic nature of SOME people or tragically pathetic and epitomize the disgustingly base nature of SOME people. Regardless of which it is reading those types of comments is somewhat akin to watching “The Simpson’s” and learning what NOT to do if you want to enjoy a pleasant and successful life.
