Will one of you sweet, evangelical christian neocon-types update us on the "homosexual republican resigns political office" count? Don't forget it's a different count from the "corrupt, money-grubbing republican resigns political office" count. Wordkyle? Reagan Rip? Got any data to share with us? See ya'll, if we had a liberal government, Foley wouldn't have a thing to worry about.
"As a founder and co-chair of the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, Mark has been instrumental in the development and passage of legislation designed to protect our children.
He authored legislation that became law -- the Volunteers for Children Act -- that gives volunteer organizations that work with children, such as scouting and sports groups, access to FBI fingerprint-based background checks to ensure that they are not inadvertently hiring child molesters.
He has also cosponsored legislation toughening the penalties levied at those who hurt children and, most recently, has joined forces with the Administration and Congress to fight child predators. His Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, which has passed both the House and Senate, will overhaul the way we track and monitor predatory pedophiles. He has also introduced and cosponsored legislation designed to eliminate child pornography and exploitive child modeling web sites.
Over the years, Mark also has worked closely with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and John Walsh (host of Fox TV’s America’s Most Wanted) on a variety of child protection programs. Among the latest of these is a program designed to show children how to protect themselves from online predators."
Wow. A Republican using their power to abuse others? Unheard of!
Yes, God will fix him. Wonder though, why God waits for a little boy or girl to be savaged first before getting involved? I mean, is God not God? Can't he smote the molester right then and there. Strike him or her dead? If not, why not? No God after all?
Democrats ACCEPT and Republicans REJECT inappropriate sexual behaviour.
Former President Bill Clinton, a Democrat used contrition, counterattack and an artful definition of what constitutes sex in his ultimately successful defense against impeachment brought on by his relationship with intern Monica Lewinsky.
Rep. Barney Frank, a liberal Democrat toughed it out after the House reprimanded him in 1989 for using his influence on behalf of prostitute Stephen L. Gobie. Frank admitted paying Gobie for sex, hiring him with his own money as an aide and writing a letter on congressional stationery on his behalf. He apologized to his constituents for his behaviour and has won re-election ever since.
Rep. Gerry Studds, a liberal Democrat who acknowledged having sex with a 17-year-old male page in 1973 and making sexual advances to two others, admitted an error in judgment but did not apologize. The first openly gay member of Congress went on to win re-election until his retirement in the mid-1990s.
Rep. Mark Foley, a Republican is accused of having sent sexually inappropriate e-mails to a 16 year old male page. Foley resigns six weeks prior to assured re-election to seventh term.
Rep. Donald "Buzz" Lukens, a Republican, was allowed to resign in 1990 due to two sex-related cases one involving sex with an underage girl and an allegation of fondling a female elevator operator in the Capitol.
Rep. Daniel B. Crane, a conservative Republican who admitted having sex several times with a 17-year-old female page in 1980. He apologized to the House in a quavering voice "for the shame I have brought down on this institution." Crane was defeated and lost his bid for re-election a year later.
I believe Democrats tend to be more forgiving/understanding/accepting of sexual indiscretions because they tend to be far more liberal than Republicans when it comes to matters of personal responsibilty with regard to the behaviour of OTHER Democrats.
Lord Acton was absolutely correct when he stated: "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

"Collectionsite": Okay, it's on. I'm not going to insult everyone else on the board (as you did) by taking up as much space, so I'll deal with a couple of your points to illustrate the idiocy of your post.
#5: "you have to believe that pollution is ok, so long as it makes a profit" -- No Republican has EVER said that pollution is okay. On the other hand, Al Gore "buys" pollution credits to offset the million miles a year he flies in his petroleum fuel-powered jet to promote his film claiming pollution causes global warming.
#6: "You have to believe in prayer in school as long as you don't pray to Allah or Buddah." -- No Republican has EVER said such a thing. On the other hand, public schools HAVE forced students to pray to Allah and pretend to be Muslim as part of a class in "Islamic studies." This at the same time the students were forbidden to read the Bible or pray in school.
Your loooonnnggg list only shows that 1) You're ignorant; and 2) You don't mind demonstrating it ad nauseam to the world.
good list collectionsite but you need to update number 20. You must now believe the constitution needs to be dismantled one piece at a time until we are a communist state.

He's a bad egg, all right. Being a Republican, he of course had to resign.
Did his politics play a part in his perverse behavior? I doubt it. There are lots of liberal perverts.
The difference is that for Conservatives it's considered wrong. For Liberals it's a resume item.
Torture and molest, the Republican leadership knew of this situation for months and kept it secret. What else is new?

Oh, and for Wordkyle, I think I will set myself up a blogger name - can you come up with something that includes "cut and paste" for me?
anonymous 1:09 PM: You might try "Waste of Bandwidth."
You spent an extraordinary amount of energy, took up a lot of the space, and yet you didn't make a point.
You're revving your engine while you're stuck in a mudhole. Give it up.
wordkyle, that was a sorta lame response.
Here are the 25 Rules to be a good Republican:
1) Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you are
millionaire conservative radio jock, which makes it an illness and
needs our prayers for your recovery.
2) You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success
all on their own.
3) You have to believe that the US should get out of the UN, and that our
highest national priority is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq.
4) You have to believe that government should stay out of people's lives
but it needs to punish anyone caught having private sex with the wrong
gender.
5) You have to believe that pollution is ok, so long as it makes a profit.
6) You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don't pray to
Allah or Buddha.
7) "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their
jobs to India.
8) You have to believe that a woman cannot be trusted with decisions about
her own body, but that large multi-national corporations can make decisions
affecting all mankind with no regulation whatsoever.
9) You have to believe that you love Jesus and Jesus loves you, and that
Jesus shares your hatred of AIDS victims, homosexuals, and Hillary Clinton.
10) You hate the ALCU for representing convicted felons, but they owed it
to the country to bail out Oliver North.
11) You have to believe that the best way to encourage military morale is
to praise the troops overseas while cutting their VA benefits.
12) You believe that group sex and drug use are degenerate sins that can
only be purged by running for governor of California as a Republican.
13) You have to believe it is wise to keep condoms out of schools, because
we all know if teenagers don't have condoms they won't have sex.
14) You have to believe that the best way to fight terrorism is to
alienate our allies and then demand their cooperation and money.
15) You have to believe that government medicine is wrong and that HMO's
and insurance companies only have your best interests at heart.
16) You have to believe that providing health care to all Iraqis is sound
government policy but providing health care to all Americans is socialism
personified.
17) You believe that tobacco's link to cancer and global warming are "junk
science", but Creationism should be taught in schools.
18) You have to believe that waging war with no exit strategy was wrong in
Vietnam but right in Iraq.
19) You have to believe that Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him,
a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when
Cheney was doing business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a
we-can't-find-Bin-Laden diversion.
20) You believe that government should restrict itself to just the powers
named in the Constitution, which includes banning gay marriages and
censoring the internet.
21) You have to believe that the public has a right to know about the
adulterous affairs of Democrats, while those of Republicans are a private
matter.
22) You have to believe that the public has a right to know about
Hillary's cattle trades but that Bush was right to censor those 28 pages
from the Congressional 9/11 report because you just can't handle the truth.
23) You support state rights, which means Ashcroft telling states what
locally passed voter initiatives he will allow them to have.
24) You have to believe that what Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital
national interest but what Bush did decades later is stale news and
irrelevant.
25) You have to believe that trade with Cuba is wrong because it is
communist, but trading with China and Vietnam is just dandy.

GOP Grand Old Pedophiles
good list collectionsite but you need to update number 20. You must now believe the constitution needs to be dismantled one piece at a time until we are a communist state.
