A Sign The Apocalypse Is Upon Us

Remember the Frisco 5th grade teacher who took her students, after receiving permission slips from their parents, to the Dallas Museum of Modern Art? At least one parent objected after the fact because there was, and I am not making this up, nudity at the museum. So the Frisco ISD backed her up, right? That's a no-brainer, right? Nope. Tonight they decided to keep her on paid leave until the end of the year and after that she will no longer have a job there.

LUDICROUS, Not only should the parents have asked questions before the field trip. The school KNEW where the children were going. They should be behind this teacher ALL the way.

I totally agree w/you. I am shocked the parents at the school didn't get behind this teacher and insist that she keep her job.

I would love for the museum to hire her - she would be an asset to their educatioin program.

Maybe there is more to the story but w/the info provided this sounds - as you say - ludicrous!

My kids got a book at Chick fil A last night - "Art Explorers." Chick fil A is known for being a strong Christian company - they are closed on Sundays adn are careful about their happy meal gifts.

In this book is a Botticelli painting - one where women are painted in VERY sheer gowns - so sheer you can see their (gasp!!) breast and backsides.

It is art people - nothing to go crazy over.

I can't believe they fired her.

YIKES!
Talk about warping the minds of children when it comes to accepting their bodies.

The administrators at "Freako ISD" should be CANNED! They are teaching children that nudity even in a museum painting is sooooo WRONG that someone needs to be FIRED if kids see something like THAT. Another PERFECT example as to WHY public education SUCKS!

WHERE is the teacher's union?

This is just one more case of an ignorant parent getting their way with moronic administration with no balls, umm I mean backbone. School administrators tend to have knee jerk reactions to things always on the defensive instead of using their intellect/logic (which most don't have much of either). It's whoever barks the loudest, who has the most money and power, whoever's kids are the most influencial, etc.

If I were a parent in the district, I would protest - BIG TIME!!! Not only for the teacher to get her job back immediately, but to ask for the resignation of the principal and any other administration who allowed her to be fired. To pay her for the rest of the year contradicts their decision too. If she truly did something wrong, she would have been fired without pay. Also, to pay her for the rest of the year is financially irresponsible on the district's part. Once again, kids are the victims here as well as the teacher.

As far as the parent who complained.... personally, I think she is an idiot, but does have the right to express her opinion and complain. It's the school who should have had the backbone to explain art to this obviously sheltered uneducated person.

I agree 9:10 the phrase above is a perfect description of who runs most school districts.

Yeah, it's bad for little kids to see a boobie on a painting. But, it's OK for them to suck milk out of em for a year or so, and see their own a few times each day. We are wacked. And the parents who signed the permission form must be really ignorant, maybe they've never been in a museum before cuz they're too busy handling serpents or obeying the prophet or something.

This is a shining example of someone's selfish desire to grab their 15 minutes in the limelight - powered by a publicity-hungry lawyer who has no conscience.

Is it any wonder our country is falling apart? We are all so caught up in our selfishness. We will all pay for the ridiculous few. We will all pay for the politicians and lawyers who are cashing in on our selfishness.

This is a perfect example of what is wrong w/ our public schools. I bet a dollar to a dime that both the principal and supt. are ex coaches who couldn't put together back to back winning seasons in tiddley winks, eachn w/ the brains od gnat! They can't cut it in the classroom, so we make MANAGERS!!! of them. No wonder education in Texas is in the state it is in!!!! Bet you Danny Boys next job is as an administrater!!!

Probably another stay at home parent with way too much time on her hands. If I may quote the classic salsa commerical...."Get a rope!"

If the teachers of that district had any gumption, they would all stage a "sickout" on a Friday football day and let the admin. deal with the parents after a day w/ no teachers. But they won't; they either are too professioanl to punsh the kids or are afraid of the idiots in charge.

Rick Reedy (now the superintendent there) did coach in Frisco for years. I believe it was girl's basketball? Yep... 10:39..you are very correct in your views!

So if I can assume that we are all in primary agreement on the ludicous nature of this issue, why are such issues allowed to exist???

I will tell you...L-A-W-Y-E-R-S

The complaining parents have a lawyer. The teacher has a lawyer. The school district has a lawyer. The state governing board has lawyers. When everybody "lawyers up" the first requirement is EVERYBODY STOP TALKING WITH EACH OTHER TO MINIMIZE YOUR LIABILITY -- let the lawyers talk for you. In this way the lawyers are in complete control and the issue is blown completely out of porportion because the bigger the issue, the more money for lawyers; the more publicity, the more free advertising for the lawyers.

At a point, it is a lawyer's world and the rest of us are simply here as their food supply.
