The Campaign For DA

Who Was It? Eisenhower?

Dumbest thing I read in the sports page today: San Diego Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer apologized Thursday for saying new starting quarterback Phillip Rivers will be tested "when the bullets start flying." A retired Marine colonel had criticized Schottenheimer's remarks in a letter to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Huh? Someone was touchy enough to take offense at that comment?? Surely not a typical thick-skinned Marine!!

Well, this will make it more difficult to "blitz" the quarterback, throw the "bomb" or line up in the "shotgun" formation. This is so ridiculous, similar to the Texas OU game no longer being able to be called the Red River "Shootout" for fear that someone might think it's OK to bring guns to the game and shoot people (I am not kidding. Check it out). Now it's the Red River Rivalry, which is even hard to say.
