Regardless of who he is - he was out in his car acting irresponsible behind the wheel. Then he made a total ass of himself - as if he is any better than any of us. He is just an actor, big f...ing deal. He still has to act responsibly - just as we do right here in Wise County. Now, oh yes, he will immediately go into rehab - and, praise the Lord, repent and be better and spend the rest of his life preaching as to the downfall of alchohol abuse. There are several reasons why IT IS WRONG and self-destructive to HATE or disrespect another person because of their ethnicity, religious choices, national origin or political/personal preferences. Just because someone does NOT think or look like you does not make them wrong or a bad person it makes YOU different from them. Mel Gibson and his father are both anti-Semites. Regardless of the circumstance it was WRONG for Mel Gibson to spew BIGOTED comments. Because he was drunk he let the world know that he is a BIGOT. Mel Gibson’s father a faithful Catholic does not believe the Holocaust ever happened….sound like any other nutter you’ve heard of in the news? A gold star for all of you who said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a faithful Muslim. BIGOTRY has been behind the deaths of countless MILLIONS of people. Christians have murdered MILLIONS of people in the name of God/Jesus/Pope. Of course who can forget the Catholic Inquisition, Protestant Reformation and the ever popular Crusades. Of course there are the countless leaders and cultures that have for MILLIONS of years persecuted the Jews for being Jews. Germany and Russia together were responsible for the murders of at least TEN MILLION Jews and several thousand Catholics during the 1930’s and 40’s. Within the United States there have been a few note worthy moments of BIGOTRY. I will just briefly mention the Ku Klux Klan. Then there is that messy little bit of business whereby the United States killed MILLIONS of Native Americans while acquiring the land you and I call home. (I have a MS in Political Science don’t even bother to argue “The Genocide of Indigenous Peoples for Political Gain” with me because THAT was the title of my thesis.) All of these mass murders were committed because of BIGOTRY.
As for my referencing anonymous comments as “anonyNOTHING”; I have a tremendous respect for ANYONE who has the wherewithal to stand up and voice their opinion, regardless of its merit. You would be amazed at the truly inane things I read and ignore because the dolt who posted the comment was using every dram of their brain power and doing the best they could. I would never want to be the person to discourage someone from thinking and using their sad, lonely, tiny, defective brain cell. HOWEVER, if someone thinks so very little of their opinion they will not bother to take the time to own that opinion by acquiring a login name then there is no reason for me to have anymore respect then they have for their opinion. It means NOTHING to them thus it should mean the same to me.
