Everyone That Wants To Be Referred To As A "Has Been", Raise Your Hand
Background: The White House press briefing room is being closed for 9 months for renovations. The President made a surprise visit today to greet the press corp on the last day of that famous room. It was supposed to be fun and frivolity.
The very famous Sam Donaldson asks a very funny question of "Should Mel Gibson be forgiven?" Your president responds (after a few seconds) in a way that makes many of us think he has no clue on how to deal with humans.

I do not understand why the Democrats do not see that the reason "W" is President of the United States is because the Democrats FAILED to provide the public with a better option. Do not give me that tired old whine of how the Republicans stole the election from the Democrats. It is done and it is over.
When and the Democrats eventually will throw down their crying towels and present to enough Americans a better option than the Republicans then and only then will "their peeps" go back to driving the country into the ground just like the Republicans.
However, if the Democrats continue to ONLY spit and moan about the horrible job the Republicans are doing driving the country into the ground then the Republicans will be the ones who get to continue driving the bus.

I think I have agreed with about .01% of what txsharon has said. I am none too fond of the personal attacks she and others on this site tend to resort to when presenting their opinions. However, she and EVERY other person here has the RIGHT to comment. Just as those of us who do not agree with the content or methods of some commentators we have the right to IGNORE their commentary. As far as txsharon being an embarrassment to the country, I disagree. She is among a dwindling minority of people in the United States who takes the time to formulate an opinion regarding the condition of anything outside the realm of her personal existence.
I tip my hat and applaud you, txsharon and every other blogger with a display name for having enough respect for your opinions to own them and share them.

mzchief - you just reiterated everything I said. She has a right to say the things she does ANY way she wants to because she lives in this wonderful country we live in...the good, the bad and the ugly. Just as I have the right to express my opinions about her or anyone else who can't disagree without resorting to what comes across as hatred. I enjoy reading everyone's comments regardless if I disagree or not...but to resort to UNNECESSARY, hurtful words...is just that, unnecessary. I would never "applaud" anyone who enjoys slinging mud.
mzchief: Your comment is again interesting because, as I go back through the posts in my mind, we have agreed on MANY things and I have often typed: Agreed or completely agree. Maybe you haven't seen those posts.
I guess it is perfectly fine that the certain people constantly levy insults at other people here but when we fight back you (collective you) cry foul. That is so typical.
I would find it refreshing to have a civil debate here on any of the issues and I often provide links to FACTUAL information. That information is never countered with any kind of facts that dispute what I have presented, only more attempts at insults. I just assume the culture here is sarcasm and snark.

There is a difference between YOU agreeing with the comments I have posted and ME agreeing with the comments you have posted.
Let me make it perfectly clear. I think your political position is at best myopic. Your political view tends to see only the worst in one party and believe there is only good in another. As for you posting “factual information”, I spend the majority of my time “presenting facts in the light most favourable to my client/cause.”
The Democratic and Republican parties are run, staffed and generally supported by self-serving, self-righteous, belligerent, deluded and/or lying toadies who are wrong more often than they are right. I personally and professionally know many of these people and am not being harsh in my assessment of their abilities, purpose and contribution to their party.
As for people calling fowl when you respond to their taunts; you and I both know that is what happens so do not respond to taunts. The anonyNOTHING who calls you tweedle dee/tweedle dumb looks all the worse for being a jerk when you elect to NOT respond.
Keep this in mind; “When you wrestle in the mud with a pig you both get dirty but the pig enjoys it.” Make the choice to NOT make the pigs happy. It is YOUR choice and only you can make the choice that is right for YOU.
It just dawned on me that I completely forgot what the original topic was...I totally disagree, Barry. Number one, how was he supposed to respond to such a question? Secondly, I believe the President's job is so very stressful that he deals with certain things in that way, trying to be funny. I used to be married to a police officer, they deal with some things in the same way...just a thought.

It is true that most of our current, so-called, leaders are self-serving and despicable. However, there is only one party that has been in complete control of our government for quite some time now and the result is not desirable. I am supporting any candidate who is not a corporate pimp no matter what the party. For example: If I were in Ron Paul’s district, I might, after more research, vote for him.
We are all just a bunch of dumbasses. Some smarter than others, but still dumbasses. I think we can all agree on that.

I am ashamed of the Democratic Party. They have let the radicals speak for the moderates. And rather than get involved (yeah, me too), we've just sat back and let it happen.
Look at Wise County as an example. Democratic party meetings are dismally attended. Republican meetings are well attended.
Folks switching parties (because the R's are closer to what they believe, (some have said publically). What is the definition of a lie? And this person is in a very very high position and is more of a Democrat than most Democrats! It's about smelling the air and figuring experience will hold the position better as a switcher if an opponent emerges to challenge for the nomination eventually. And the thing is, there are good folks out there who could do it better.
The whole political system is just sad.
And by golly, I don't trust party switchers. Period!
