Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • Neil Armstrong's funeral is Friday. It is only fitting that there is a full moon that night. Really.
  • For all of this hype over Isaac, does anyone realize it is not even a hurricane yet? (At least as I wrote this.) The bang-to-hype ratio seems all out of whack on this storm.
  • The more I think about it, the weirder those "conditions" on Dez Bryant's life are. There has to be something going on behind the scenes, and why in the world did the Cowboys make the conditions public? I wonder if they are setting him up to fail so as to save face once they cut him.
  • The Onion does a parody on the "And Another" phenomenon and, interestingly, they base it in Fort Worth. (Thanks, Keith.)
  • The Doberman scratched up our floor with his Freddy Krueger-like toenails. Mrs. LL promises she can fix it. I just stood there and stared at it. She just said, "Don't worry." She says that to me a lot.
  • Some are saying the Aggie/Louisiana Tech game (in Shreveport on Thursday) and the LSU/North Texas game (Saturday in Baton Rouge) are in jeopardy due to Isaac. I don't see that happening.
  • Mitt Romney's "birth certificate" joke last week didn't bother me at all.
  • But I did see an interview yesterday with Romney and his wife where she was bragging about how she bought him a three-pack of shirts from Costco. They might want to rethink that. The Rich Guy image is a better image than the Pandering Guy image.
  • Times Square "crutches fight." People are crazy.
  • I've had a strange two nights of "sleep". I'm having horrible dreams and wake up every thirty minutes. I then fall back asleep within five minutes and fall right back into the dream.  By three a.m., I was trying to force myself to think of something happy as I drifted off in hopes of controlling the dream. It didn't work.
  • I asked Mrs. LL this morning if she stood in the bedroom last night and told me about a weird rash on her rib cage and then showed it to me. She hadn't.
  • In 1974, I was kid on a Saturday afternoon watching a college football game on TV because it was the only thing on. Notre Dame and USC.  Notre Dame went up to a 24-0 lead shortly before halftime.  I then watched in amazement as USC stormed back to win the game 55-24. I kept looking around the house to tell someone about it but my mom wasn't particularly interested. So it was just me, the announcers, and the crowd at the Colosseum in Los Angeles. I sat there enthralled, and I've been hooked on college football ever since.
  • Ten deaths are listed in the Update today.
  • A Bowie man is believed to have died of the West Nile Virus (pending state confirmation) but he was in the "Decatur Hospital."

1) Samuel L. Jackson and Ellen Barkin sure gave Isaac a lot of their attention.
2) Good for you for publicly not being offended by Romney's joke. The Democrat faux outrage was a bit much.
3) Re: dreams. Substance abuse coming back to haunt you, counselor? (Blame pot.)

Tropical Storm Allison sat over Houston and caused the type of flooding that would overwhelm New Orleans again. Don't rule out a good flood, even if the winds aren't t hat high.

Rage

Anonymous said...

Allison in 2001 was "only" a tropical storm. Its the speed of movement and the amount of rain that is the threat.

They made the Dez Bryant restrictions public for two reasons;
1. Dallas DA still undecided on filing charges
2. Roger Goodell

Maybe if they see we are doing something they won't. Need him to play

Is George Bush still mad at black people in New Orleans by steering Isaac to the ninth ward?

Anonymous said...

Faux outrage indeed, like whenever the right gets upset about anything Biden says.

Stop lying wordkyle.

I hear the phrase "Don't worry" from my wife quite often as well. She says it after she carelessly broke something. "Don't worry" translated really means "I broke this thing of value...but it's broken now and can't be fixed, so there's no point in getting mad about it."

The joke about the birth certificate didn't offend me either, Barry. In fact jokes of any kind should not offend a mature adult...in fact they are just....jokes.

Anonymous said...

Rage, I don't think Wordkyle made ANY statement that the "right" doesn't ever get "faux outraged", either. Can't accuse him of lying when there has been NO statement made, either directly or indirectly--even by ommission. Ya gotta go study basic logics and debate! BTW, I'm from the "right", and I'm disgusted when EITHER "side" gets "faux outraged" over totally innocent stuff from the "other side". I bet Wordkyle feels the same way. In any debate, nothing worse than having someone stupid on your own "side" spouting stupid opinions! :-)

To prevent a Koyaanisqatsi-esque level in the solar system, I intend to play Dark Side of the Moon all day (and night) on Friday

Rangers' post-game uncomfortable moment last night:
While Knoxie is working the crowd, he points out a sign that says "Me love Yu long time". I think: "Wow, that is really racially insensitive!"
Then they show the person holding the sign - a young Asian female. So now I thinks: "In your face, racial stereotype!"

Regarding the crutch fight, I was more taken aback by the d-bag narrating than the two guys beating each other senseless.

I think that Mr. and Mrs. Romney's comments were taken slightly out of context. The message he meant to get across was that he would like to buy Costco--not buy at Costco.

Someone can be a liar and not mention a specific event 9:28, and wordkyle is perfect at that. He didn't directly endorse Akin's rape statement, but he didn't throw a fit about it like he would have about it if a Democrat said it. And he cries about Obama's socialism all the time, but he is dead silent when it comes to the fact that Ryan voted for TARP and the auto bail out. He also is silent when it comes to the fact that Obama's energy policy has us on the same track Romney says he wants to be on. Domestic drilling is up and alternative fuels and natural gas that we don't have to import are growing. We're on the way to being a natural gas exporter under Obama, even.

So you might try a little logic and fewer stupid opinions yourself. Or at the very least don't bring a knife to a gun fight, like your weak little post, above.

I have a friend under 30 years old that was just diagnosed with West Nile. He lives in the Azle area and he said he has never been this sick in his life.

I vaccinate my horses every year for West Nile Virus and I know they try things out on them and then move to human trials. I wonder how long it will be before we are all getting WNV shots?

9:48, Don't even compare Romney's energy policy to Obammy's. Domestic drilling is up on PRIVATE land but down on federal land because of Obammy.

August 28, 2011 Irene was hitting the NE U.S. and I kept hearing "huricane". I checked the wind speed on at least 30 NWS stations in the area and could not find winds over 50 MPH. In the 30 MPH range was more common.

Show us the tax returns!

And take a gander at Ryan's voting record while you're at it--he agreed with Obama on TARP and the auto bailout, among others.

Good times!

Obama is so missing his moment to be a star.

He should campaign to his communist, socialist, marxist and, corrupt voter base right on top of those levees when Isaac hits New Orleans. His voters could declare him Grand Poo Ba Hurricane Buster.

Today's comments are a perfect example of why I HATE politics. Nothing new to report. But that doesn't stop the ridiculous internets arguing.

All of you people commenting and arguing, (Rage, WordKyle, and your "anon" posting supporters), already know who you are going to vote for. Hell, almost everyone has already decided who they will vote for. So it would be awesome if all the histrionics and opinions and debate could be skipped and save us all the beating.

"Why would private industry need to use federal lands? Isn't that socialism?"

Because that is where the oil is, stupid. Over 90% of Alaska is owned by the Federal Government or a subsidiary thereof.

http://www.nationalatlas.gov/mapmaker?AppCmd=CUSTOM&LayerList=federallands&visCats=CAT-boundary,CAT-boundary

Notice almost all of Alaska and the western third of the US is controlled in some way by the government. What the private sector would like to do is explore for resources(oil, most predominantly) on these government controlled locations.

Please refrain from making idiotic comments on topics you know nothing about.

Rage, I sure hope your life partner makes you wipe your feet before you step in to the house at the end of the day because you step in it every time you post. It's called capitalism you dumbass. If a private company were to be able to drill on federal land, then it brings in revenue for them, the government and lessens our dependence on foreign oil. Now wipe your feet.

4:09, Not an Obama voter at all, just pointing out a ludicrous comment. As much as I do not like Obama and his policies, to think it is his fault for some people being generally worthless is idiocracy.

There is plenty of worthless folks on both sides of the political aisle. If you did not get the subtle switch between my southern redneck speak and ebonic slang in my last post, you failed to see I was poking fun at both sides.
