The Messenger is doing something different -- a four part series on a lady sent to federal prison. And the author is a name that I haven't seen before (but maybe I've just missed it.)

That is one of the strangest stories I've ever seen.
Why the step-dad is still walking I'll never know.

Who Cares other than immediate family members.

WHY WOULD YOU BE READING THIS BLOG OR ANY OTHER IF YOUR INTERESTS DONT GO BEYOND YOUR OWN DOOR,JUST TAKE NOTES.

I don't understand how this is more imporant, gets 2 full pages and a kid that drowns gets half a page. She did wrong and she was smart enought to know whats right and wrong, she should have gone to prison along with the step father.

10:06,
Great question. I often wonder why a "former resident" will have a story written in the messenger.

This story is very interesting. Barry posted this two years ago ago.
The story makes it interesting and it just so happens they live right down the road from us.

It just let's you know that the feds can take you from your family whenever they please.

4:09,
And we are "smart enought" to know you are a dumb ass.
Have a great day.

I find this story most uninteresting. I worked a government job just like hers. I was, as is mandated by law, instructed on the very rules she broke. She knew it was wrong..why is The Messenger trying to make it sound like we should feel sorry for her? It was greed that caused her to make her illigal decision. She is no different than any other criminal...just too bad children were involved. I don't think I will read part two.

She was instructed incorrectly. Even the prosecutor said that. Are you better suited to give an opinion than the prosecutor?
Yeah, I wouldn't read it either if I were you.
However, if you do read it check out how "illigal' is spelled.

One day, we'll see a major story about a mom and dad that just work hard, raise great kids that go on to success, and contribute back to the community. Aw...what am I thinking. That will never happen. One of the DFW area news stations did a story on a valedictorian at a local school that did so "despite the hardships of being an unwed mom". Oh, what "lessons" young people can learn from her...blah blah blah...meantime dozens of other valedictorians that manage not to have kids get the usual mentions in tiny little spaces in the paper; and certainly nothing on TV.

No, she is certainly not innocent, but she was extremely niave. Her story needs to be, and should be told, especially in today's economy for others to read. A good lesson for all that no matter what job you have and no matter how badly you want it, or need it, just because your boss tells you to do something that you know is illegal doesn't mean that you should do it. Most owners/bosses in cases similar to this that I've handled over the past four decades will definitely cover their own butts and leave the particular employee take the fall, if they can. Read the entire article and LEARN, and then HEED!!

6:49 "the feds can take you from your family whenever they please"

Really, 6:49...did you not know if you break a law you will be taken from you family and jailed? It is still in this country...if you do the crime you will do the time. And, for heavens sake, you cannot blame it on the feds, but only yourself.

It is almost not worth my time to comment on this rediculous story. I am tired of all the criminals boohooing over their mistakes. They should be asking God for forgiveness and leave us out of it. Why did the messenger think this was important to print? Anybody know?

Who honestly cares if you're not involved in it somehow? Waste of time energy and effort.

Apparently most of You have never worked for a Government contractor or the Government. I don,t know what this women did, nor do I care. But it is common to stretch the rules/law or You will not continue on good terms in many of these organizations. When the auditors or officials are present the procedures are followed, but when they leave it becomes less important. The same thing can happen and results in salt in the water aquifer. Just saying many management and people in leadership are not ethical or honest. Been there done that for 35 plus years. If You are so naive that You think this women could not have been coerced or in fear for her job, You are sheltered. Be careful wearing blinders they may slip up and attack You.

Yup-what we want to read are stories about average kids who work their butts off, stay out of trouble, but still don't make the pros. They go on to live average lives, have average kids, and live in average houses.

Yup, people will pay big bucks to read that. Have you seen those lines of people waiting to get in and watch the honest, hard-working accountant do his job? Or how about those beating down the door to watch inspirational teachers motivate kids? Or building contractors who take pride in their craft?

Very scary story.
It's Definetly made me paranoid.

Male your graduates read this story before going off to college.
I know I was naive enough starting out to trust my boss. After all, he was older and more experienced than I.

Be knowledgeable in your area. Especially when you are a private company contracted out to the government.

It's sad to think the boss can beat the rap while a minimum waged office worker gets two years in the pen.

Are there no stories about local interests ?

How about the challenges of a superintendent and wife working together in the same district!

Legal?

Ethical?

Good or poor decision?

Anonymous said...

I'd be willing to bet that the percent of school districts who have a supt. or principal whose spouse also works in that district is over 90%.

Districts look to hire couples because they are apt to stay longer and are typically better employees overall.

Bob Buckel wrote for the Azle News for years (maybe still does). He did an editorial called Buckshots. Very good guy and writer.

She knew she shouldn't charge for hours not worked! She was quilty. She went to jail for over charging the taxpayers! Now the Messenger is doing a 4 part series on how we got screwed! Who are the true victims here????

I don't guess anyone on this blog was worrid about the over billing the feds...........of course that only happens in this one defense shop

Anonymous said...

I don't understand the reason for this story? Is it to show that it's OK to do wrong because if you blame enough people for what you did then everyone will feel sorry for you?

Is that chick checking herself for bad breath?
