Re-Alignment Announced For UIL

Five teams in the district? Is that normal?

Remind me. How many teams make the football playoffs from each district?

All announced realignments here.

It was five the last two year also.
It's becoming the norm to keep districts from driving so far.
Three teams from each district make the playoffs.
Two small schools and one large school.
Decatur 885
Bridgeport 628
Gainesville 672
Sanger 722
Poor Krum 460

So one of these teams could go 2 - 7 and make playoffs. Whoopie damn do!

Well looks like Henson will make the playoffs again.Good job coach, your the bestest.

All right, maybe the bulls can get second ( The first loser ) in district.Lets keep our fingers crossed that Henson doesn't leave this year,or we might not make the playoffs. But then again if you win just two games you have a chance to advance to playoffs. Lets pray.

Why does Henson get all the credit? The kids are the ones playing the game and there are other coaches besides Henson coaching the kids. If you don't have kids with the athletic abilty it isn't going to matter who is coaching them.

Sounds like some real exciting matchups there buddy. And to think there are people out there who ran and got on the school board to put in turf in an old ass stadium to watch that.

whats up with the hate for the head coach and bridgeport wont make the playoff's for the next few years. has anyone seen your kids play sports lately sanger will be the best school in the district for the next few lears

STOP WITH THE TURF TALK!!!!!! TOO MANY HATERS

Anonymous said...

Why not drop all the old wounds and just support the kids win or lose no matter what sport they play? These kids don't play for millions---only for pride in their towns, schools, and themselves. Let's make them proud of us as parents and fans.

Nice try. Decatur has soooooo many haters that most won't even come west of Sandy. Now that I think about it, that is a good thing.

There is a handful of haters in each town who we regularly get to hear from---but I can assure you that there are a lot more good, caring folks in both towns than haters. It's fun to trade some trashtalk with each other every season before the "Battle of Big Sandy", but most people don't make it personal nor let it rise to the level of hatred. Last time I looked, folks in both towns are Americans, bleed red when cut, and most importantly--love their kids unconditionally.

Sanger's QB is gone to Tulsa and their SR class next year is horrible. Sanger will get in the playoffs but they will not win the district.

WE WANT TURF, WE WANT TURF, WE WANT TURF

Even if Decatur makes the playoffs they will be same old one and done.
When you come from a weak dist. then that what you will be=weak

When Bball season starts...watch out for Krum.

Anonymous said...

I hope the coach isn't black. There's a history of cheating with it.

Krum better get ready for a beatdown in football!!!

Need to toughen those kids up. Have them play on gravel.

Oh, Texas High School Football, and all its "issues"! This is why I root for the Decatur Cross Country program (and all cross country runners in general). A very "pure" athletic sport (meaning little in the way of required facilities), and LOADS of individual discipline in order to be successful. For instance, a WINNING program requires year-round individual training (including 5:00 a.m. wakeups ALL summer long), with most of that training being "on your own" without a coach when it's off-season. And the TEAM result is TOTALLY dependent on each runner's TOTALLY INDIVIDUAL EFFORT (with no help from other team members). My hat is off to any kid from ANY school who puts so much work and pain to do well in that sport. And the spectators at the meets? Lots of cheering on your team with NO "hatin'" on the other team runners. In fact, you hear a lot of cheering for ALL the runners in each event, from ALL the onlookers. Quite a display of athleticism (i.e., power, stamina and speed).

My hometown is in a district with six. Last time, they had seven, at least four of which were playoff contenders. It was a complete crock.

very interesting comments on...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Watching somebody run just to be running is only slightly more stimulating than watching somebody walk. But...put a ball in their hands and have other folks chase them down? Now you got yourself an exciting Friday night!

Good luck with that whole running thing, though

I don't understand what the fascination is with turf. Is it because that's what professionals use? I just don't get it.

Anonymous said...

yes cross country is great? all of the best athletes area playing football. only of few crosscounty runners would even make the team. Ive been to a meet its like a under 5 soccer game everyone makes the team and gets to run. dont get me wrong we have a few elite runners but most would not make it if the football players decided to run. im sure football players never train on thr own.

How does Decatur, one of the biggest schools in class 3A in the state of Texas, go 6 years without winning a playoff game? Can somebody please tell me!!!

Anonymous said...

Sounds like Decatur could use Henson as their head coach! At least he wins playoff games!

Anonymous said...

Krum isnt near as good at basketball as they used to be and I saw them play football last year......not good enuff to compete at 2A much less 3A.

Anonymous said...

Gainesville has not had a winning season in 5 years and will not anytime soon! Krum is in it's first year of varsity ball-not ready for primetime yet! So go ahead and pencil in Bulls, Eagles, & Indians for the playoffs the next two years!! Once again Henson needs to move to Vegas because he is the luckiest man on Earth!!

Count your blessings . . . and pull out your maps. Hamilton is in a district with Coleman, Cisco, Ballinger, Hawley and Colorado City. That is 195 miles from Hamilton to Colorado City. So much for smaller districts meaning closer districts. This is awful.

Sounds like Football well be boring for the next two years. For the Eagles and Bulls fans.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know what Boyd, Peaster, Ponder, Brock, and Millsap have in common? They are ALL going to beat the snot out of Alvoid in district basketball for the next two years!

News Update: Story to stay in Decatur for two more years!

Lots of people on this blog are apparently not familiar with the quality of the Bridgeport football program prior to Coach Henson's arrival.

Anonymous said...

Don't write off Gainesville. They have some talent coming up.

Anonymous said...

Hear hear 2:03. Absolutely love XC !!

Anonymous said...

3;36 - Because they have Story as their coach. So what does disd do? They extend his contract! wow...times have sure changed.

Anonymous said...

Go ahead and give Stephenville the 3A state title in every sport

Anonymous said...

Cross country has "loads" of talent?
More like loads on their faces.
It's a proven fact... Cross country runners are homosexuals who can't play football.
Hear hear!

Hey 7:45,Did you ever stop to think it may have been the players that sucked instead of the coaches????? _ss wipe

He deserves a pay raise and turf

Houston Yates former 5a powerhouse will be in the running for everything i would think

Well this is not college where kids can get recruited, legally!

Anonymous said...

I dont think Henson has ever gone 6 years without a playoff win during his time in Bridgeport! Man 6 years without a playoff win! Sucks to be an Eagles fan!

What is with hating on cross country? I am not sure what the actual stats are, but I can't wait to see, in 10 years, which ones are scratching their belly and burping up Bud and which are applying themselves with the self discipline they exhibited in CC.

Anonymous said...

Beg to differ: at XC Regionals this year, a Decatur parent was insulting Bport "Why are you here?? To watch whom..oh Bridgeport? I didn't know Bridgeport was here!"

Now to read this, it sounds just like the parent was surprised..you had to BE there to hear the sarcasm and such oooooooozing out. Jerk. Of course, one bad apple...
didn't spoil it for our kids.

Fortunately, it was only one set of parents. All the other Decatur parents were AWESOME when they greeted us, and vice-versa.

So, then it was nice to see everyone else yelling encouraging words, etc., to all the kids from every school. Glad I didn't have to run that course. Brutal. .
