Two Chicks Drive Into Lake In Rockwall
I heard them talking about this on The Ticket this morning and two-thirds of the hosts said, "I can see how that could happen." Really? You can understand how someone can mistake a boat ramp for a road and then not use something called "a brake pedal" before you end up in the drink? Sheesh.
I also figured it was going to be an overblown news story of "a hero" but, after watching it, I bet those gals would have drown if it wasn't for the deputy. If they'll drive into a lake, I'm not betting on them to have the sense to open a door, roll down a window, or break out the glass. Speaking of. What was that little glass-breaking-doo-hickey the cop had? I want one.
Edit: Uncut video at youtube.

I heard a rumor that 40 years ago a super hefty Star-Telegram reporter drove off into the Trinity River and was saved by a girl. He is the Ted Kennedy of Fort Worth you might say. I'm just sayin.
Not surprised, they're women AND asian.
Glad they are safe, but sheesh! Does no one pay attention anymore when they are behind the wheel? Better smarten up quick or they are in for a dangerous future.

WAIT!!!! Are you trying to say the Police did a good thing?? Never thought I would see the day. Of course, Only a few comments so far. Someone gonna start on it soon
It would be a better outcome to let people that stupid drown.

The thingie to break glass is called a punch. It is kind of like a pen with really stiff spring inside. You compress the spring to the breakpoint and the carbide tip pops out, real, hard.
The intended use of a punch is to create a tiny crater in a metal surface in order to center a drill bit. Without a punch, there is not crater to center the drill bit in and the bit will slide across the surface, but as you can see, it does a great job at shattering safety glass as well.
You can buy them at Lowe's or any hardware store.
3:33 - now that's funny!
I like Asians. Real. Hard.
The Backdoor Intruder
Old spark plugs break glass well too, according to a high school friend who ran a tidy business selling hot stereos and radar detectors out of the trunk of his Camaro back in the early eighties. I later saw a cop arrest a kid for stealing out of cars in our church parking lot and he pulled a spark plug out of the kid's pocket and told me the same thing.
Huzzah for the cop in that video. That's a good story.
Wuz drugs r alkeyhol involved?
Asians- bad mojo for driving AND swimming.
Female- well, we all know about their driving abilities. Regardless, they would be dead if it were not for that cop.
Huh, someone too dumb to be a truck driver and too lazy too steal got something right for once.
You break you NOW, WE PAY!!
I just want to know what distracted those two young Asian lasses...all alone in a dark car by themselves...and why were they in the backseat??
Ask for a "Spring Loaded Center Punch" I have been a FF/EMT-P/Cop for a long time and have always carried one. They work great!!! and the trick with spark plugs, you have to break the ceramic (it's the little points that break the window) insulator and just use a piece.
We love that Deputy...
long time long time.

What were their names? Wong Way and Yugo First?
You can get a nifty keychain version of this tool (it also includes a cutter for cutting seatbelts). This version is called "ResQMe" and is available here: http://www.resqme.com/.
Everyone should have one.
The window glass punch and strap cutter that 8:04 referenced can be bought here for $13. I'm pretty impressed; I'm getting one. They especially make sense if your car has electric windows.
Oh, and 4:49? Old spark plugs only work when you can throw them hard enough at the windows. Hard (impossible?) to do under water or while you're in the vehicle. I've broken a few car windows in my time, and have been surprised at how hard the task can be.
Thelma Chong and Louise Wang by chance?
