Decatur students couldn't think up their own sign. All they could do was copy the Bridgeport sign from the last game. Which is probably why no one bothered to take a picture and send it in to the blog.
The sign implying they <3 one of the Bridgeport players mothers is completely unclassy and attacking one person in specific. The classy Bridgeport students would never dare step to a level as low as the Decatur students have proven to show they possess.
Observations... 1) nice gym. 2) it would have more clever if the opponents name was implemented into the sign. 3) still a good sign. 4) after the last sign incident, was there not an assembly informing the student of possible repercussions? 5) can we PLEASE use the proper spelling when referring to "losers"?? Geez. You sound like an imbecile.
Hm. Let's TOTALLY leave out the fact that the decatur kids pointed out one our players moms saying they love her. I would LOVE to see a picture of THAT up here.
As a Decatur fan at the game, I think the signs from both schools are funny, but I give the edge to Bridgeport students for originality.
Both schools have very nice gymnasiums, that said the Bridgeport stadium had high-back chairs for every fan which was very comfortable, and it was much louder than Decatur gym.
I was at the game last night and the Decatur boys were holding up two signs, that when side by side said "Eagles @#it on the Bulls" This sign was very disrespectful and not funny. I tried to get a picture, but my phone was not working. I love our rivalry, but that's going too far!!
These pranks are minor. The things that kids did in the 70's/80's would now be considered terrorism, discrimination, etc. I can remember boys dressing up like girl cheerleaders at the volleyball / football rally. (Sex discrimination). My brothers made those bazooka things that shot out tennis balls at a very high rate of speed. (Not at school). I recently read about 2 kids doing something similar (in a different state) & they were arrested.
When the two teams played in Decatur a few weeks ago, a parent/grandparent whose family member is the girls varsity head coach of Bridgeport tore down and wadded up a Decatur sign that was hanging up on the rails behind the fans on the Bridgeport side -- very classless. She seemed very proud of herself, too, and then soon after, she moved from the handicapped chairs (no, her husband was NOT with her) into the bleachers below.
4:09 don't be naive and believe there aren't consequences for the students actions. But worst of all you should be ashamed of yourself to make racist comments to young students. It's just a mere high school rivalry which is meant to be fun and exciting to watch. It's sad that there are people like you who view themselves with higher status than that of high school students because of what side of the creek they live on.
The sign on the rail behind the Brigeport fans was in front of the handicapped section blocking the view for anyone in the handicapped section that wasn't six feet tall. The man that was beside the lady stayed in his handicapped seat. Why do the Decatur fans not want the handicapped to see the game??????????????
You guys are wrong. I was there the whole night and saw it - as did lots of Decatur fans who commented on it for awhile afterwards. There were plenty of handicap seats on that side that did not have a sign in front of them - so why would she tear down a sign, when she could have sat in a seat with no sign blocking her view, or why wouldn't she ask someone who didn't want the sign destroyed, if they could remove it. And besides. I am far from 6 feet tall, and I sat in the handicap seats for a few minutes on the Decatur side, and my view was NOT blocked at all. Sit your happy rear in one and you'll see, too.
Someone on the Decatur side tore down at least 2 signs on the rails BEHIND the Decatur seats at the Bridgeport game, so I don't think Decatur has a lot of moral high ground on the signs issue.
Eagles may have won the game, but the Bridgeport student section = epic win.

Ok, this sign was not very clever.
Loosers!!
Looks like the Bridgeport kids read your blog!

Smart, funny, original. Those kids have talent! Won't be long before somebody crushes that in the name of education.
That's what she said...Classholes!

Where is the picture of the Decatur male students holding up the sign that states, "I <3 #5's MOM"?

Who says the Bridgeport kids arent classy? Notice the boys wearing suits & ties? Haha
The Real Billy
the decatur sign was flattering. the bridgeport sign was class-less, just like the bridgeport administrators who let them hold it up.
the decatur gym is still much much better
jus sayin..
oh and another decatur SWEEP!
Who is #5's mom?
2:16 you are and idiot.
Is take a mother Lovin comment as a compliment.
Unless she was ugly....then the sign would have been hilarious.
Boyd student gets kicked out of game for sign...
Bridgeport students are looked at as being creative...
I guess they are just glad the Bridgeport kids are able to write in English.

2011-12 season, eagles 2- bulls 0. Scoreboard always matters most.
Boyd has class.

"Remeber the water tower." Decatur will never be able to top that.
Bridgeport Class of '77
I don't remember B'port having a #5 on the team.
B'port's gym is very nice and the right size. I'd trade it for Decatur's gym.
They are still kids. Leave 'em alone.
