Any news about the big Decatur CSCOPE forum?

The forum was lightly attended and generally supportive of CSCOPE

7:06, you obviously weren't there or you an administrator trying to spin this story.

The parents lit the superintendent up like a firecracker. He couldn't answer their questions He kept saying over and over that "we're here to communicate, we're here to communicate, communication is a problem, communication is a problem". He didn't know how to answer the parent's questions. He kept saying, "that is a question we will have to answer later'. It was painful to watch. One lady asked some very good questions about CScope, class sizes, and the STAAR test that the superintendent did not know the answer to. I have children in this district and this meeting was a really good idea. I think more people need to go to the next one if you want to know what is really going on especially if you have kids in Decatur ISD. I get why my oldest kid has been having so many problems with his test grades now. And if you didn't get there early you had to stand up. There were a bunch of people there.

Most at the meeting did not say much. Good discussion but over all positive. I would have liked to see some representation from the board.

2:22, As for school board representation, I saw Haney, White, Elder, and Clayton there. The vast majority of the audience was parents and elementary school teachers (very surprized at the lack of secondary school teachers that didn't show up). There, of course, was a principal from each school and a handful of central adminstrators. I expected someone to jump in and help out Townsend at some point, but no one did. I don't think he knew what hit him at that meeting. The parents all brought up very valid points and I'm releived, as a teacher, that people besides us are starting to speak up.

Sounds like there were enough board members present to make it an official board meeting. Was it posted as such
