I'm still awaiting a picture from what remains of Jeterville after the fire this morning (anyone?), but I was reminded of
this post from 2007 when a complete stranger wrote me about an event that happened there many years ago.
Edit:
Star-Telegram now has a story about the
fire.

The one place where the Rhome Baptists didn't recognize one another!
I love that Fleetwood Mac story.
No picture but I was passed by the Rhome PD going about 90 miles an hour. I wondered why he was way outside his jurisdiction when I saw him turn and come back up the service road. Then I smelled smoke. Flames had engulfed the outside corner of the building and there were no fire trucks in sight. A few minutes later I met a fire command vehicle coming up from Saginaw but did not see an other emergency vehicles. I am sure by the time a fire department arrived on scene the structure was a total loss.
12:29, It was a "total loss" the day they shut it down!
OMG I hope the cat made it out ok!
I drove by it this morning and it looked like the only structure that burned was the southernmost building where they used to sell tobacco and pipes.
I spent from 1982 until July of 1994 working in the liquor store at Jeterville, worked 10-9 or whenever Glen would come down and relieve me 4 days a week. Met lots of people from Wise County when I went to work at WM in Decatur in 1997 people would ask me don't I know you from somewhere I would just smile and say you don't know me but I know what you drank.LOL Good times
