Friday Night Lights Grow Up So Fast

Bridgeport 52
Mineral Wells 49
Mineral Wells tied the game with 43 seconds left but Bulls kicker Ricky Martinez kicked a 43 yard field goal with one second left for the win. Livin' La Vida Loca! (Dang it,. that was Ricky Martin.)

Chico 6
Muenster 41
Muenster. Halloween. My previous zombie reference about Chico's resurgence. It's all too easy.

Alvord 27
Nocona 34
A blogger at the Wichita Falls paper predicted this. There's a man who knows how to whip his audience into a frenzy.

Boyd 55
Howe 6
And, how.

Decatur 45
Lake Worth 21
The ride along Jacksboro Highway offered more resistance.

Paradise 0
Calisburg 23
Paradise was favored by eight. Unfortunately, that factored in the offense actually making the trip.

The Henson philosophy works whether you like it or not.
If you can score you have a chance to win.

Another wasted year for Paradise and the talent that they have.

(ALVORD)Thats what you get when you have girls coach, coaching football 2 and 5 record for the year. No defense

"(ALVORD)Thats what you get when you have girls coach, coaching football..."

That comment has to be the dumbest thing I've heard in years!
12:43, you truly showed you know nothing about coaching at all. You also certainly know nothing about Coach Enis!

5:18 - Agreed!

The only thing that I know about Alvord is that they let a coach go that took them two rounds and hired a guy that will take them 2-8. Are you happy"Enis Lovers". You have done the kids great things in Alvord.

11:08, and I presume also 12:43 - Your ignorance is astounding! If you're looking for a job, be sure to list "ignorance" as your very best trait.

11:08 - The only smart thing you posted was "You have done great things for the kids in Alvord" but even that statement needed some grammar correction.
Everyone knew this was going to be a building year - if you didn't know that well, there is another opinion based on ignorance. It takes time to build a work ethic into a group that has been satisfied with laziness for the last decade. This group isn't used to hard work, they aren't super stars - they have little speed and no size - they are going to have to work to be successful. Those that are working hard, are bringing in the best stats.....those who are relying on excuses they hear from their parents, are not - it's that simple.
On a different note - when was the last time AHS didn't lose a single football player to failing grades in the first 6-weeks? Now that is an accomplishment and we have the coaches and teachers working together to thank for it.
Soon, that will reflected on the field.

Just the facts here, he coached girls in the past, 2-and -5 record this year in football, his players do not respect or respond to him,
That is all I am saying.

He's a good cross country coach, not a good football coach. I have nothing against the guy, a lot like him and a lot don't but he is not a football coach

The TRUTH hurts....yall have killed the boys program in Alvord. The supt is killing the school system beacuse he is a puppet. Hamilton and the rest of the board I hope yall are happy

This year team has alot of good players with talent, and were capeable of make the playoffs, but the coach changes everything from last year, just because he can,he don't respect the players,so in turn the players do not respect him. but he is not killing the boy's program,he will not coach football next year

We finally has started to upgrade our athletic facilities in Decatur. Thanks to some upgrades we are seeing our teams perform better. Keep it up Eagles....
We back ya....

You people and school sports, the whole world is going down the tubes and ya'll get bent out of shape over a stupid high school game.

The Bulldogs are playing their butts off. Most like the coaches but are having some adjustment issues. That is to be expected. Give it a chance and they will work it out, if the haters will just shut-up and leave them alone.
This crap on here doesn't help - it only hurts. The program will improve and as soon as they start winning, you guys won't be bashing people any more.

Just curious, I wonder how many players Chico and Paradise lost to grades last 6 weeks. I'm also curious when was the last time a player from Alvord, Chico, or Paradise got a scholarship to go play football in college. Knowing the numbers are not very high,it makes me wonder why on earth anyone spends this much time bitching about a game that really doesn't mean a thing to anyone once the kid is out of high school.

The Decatur Board has stepped up and put improved our athletic facilities. We have new stands, sidewalks, fences, and more on the way. Keep it up the good work.
We like to win and this is what it takes.

A great Coach and man got bashed when Alvord decided to play the good ol boy system and bring in Enis. I dont want to heard about bashing enis.

HEY COME ON NOW, IT'S ALVORD---WHO THE HELL CARES!!!

Anonymous said...

8:03 - A good man, yes, a good coach....not so much. And he was bashed by the same people who are now attacking Enis. Do you see a pattern here? You can't please a basher because they won't put the blame where it belongs. It all starts at home.

I would be willing to bet that Enis will be on the girls side after his son graduates... He will repeat what he did in the fall of 1997, head football coach for 1 year and done... Except this year will not end with a state quarter-finalist, but a 3-7 season(they will beat Jacksboro)... I am not hating just predicting...

I would be willing to bet you are wrong 11:55. My prediction: in a couple of years, or sooner, there won't be any bashers left in Alvord because the boys take on the tradition of the girl's program he built and will be winning big in all sports in a 1A division. Remember when it happens, you saw it here first.
