The answer is in Lewisville Code of Ordinance, Article II,Sect. 3-27 Sec. 3-27. Confirmation of sterilization required. The new owner of an animal adopted from city animal control shall deliver a letter to city animal control stating that the animal was sterilized on or before the sterilization completion date specified in the adoption receipt and sterilization agreement executed at the time the animal was adopted. This letter must be signed by the veterinarian who performed the sterilization. The letter must be delivered to city animal control not later than the seventh day after the date on which the animal was sterilized, and must contain the following information: (1) A brief description of the animal, including breed, sex, age, and color; (2) A statement that the animal has been sterilized; and (3) The date the animal was sterilized
Like Denton cops don't have any crimes to prevent aside from arresting a woman who failed to give a certificate to an animal shelter saying she got her animal sprayed or neutered. Kuddos Denton Police. Another showing of your outstanding law enforcement capabilities.
Yeah, you're a lawyer; but, surprisingly, you don't know everything. Don't you know how to look it up? If not, I would not want you as my lawyer. A person should not be locked up for this though, they should just pick up the animal. Cheeeezzzz
This is the type of thing that indicates to the common man that our government is out of control. Why THE HELL do we need to be arresting people for failure to prove that their animal was spayed or neutered? Wouldn't a citation work just as well?
And speaking of nonsensical arrests, in Tyler recently a 17y.o. boy bragged to his friends that he had shot another man and fed his body into a wood chipper. One of the friends reported this to the police. The police located the man who had supposedly been shot alive and well at his home. So what did the police do? They arrested the braggart 17y.o. for making a false police report.
WTH 2:39, the friend was the one who reported it, he's the one that made the false statement to cops. Why then would they have the right to arrest the 17 yr old braggart? These things freak me out. God almighty.
A citation, issued by Animal Control...Not the police. And just like any other citation that goes without paying...yup, it goes into warrant.
Is it silly to have the ability to arrest someone for something as silly as this, probably. But more so, it's incredible to put youself into a position to get arrested for this (i.e. not paying ticket or contesting it in court).

Yet another crack head.
Rage, you might want to have her flea dipped first.
Why didn't they just give her a ticket?
It is only a Class "C" misdemeanor, so unless she refused to sign the citation, there must be another sharge that is not listed there.

Maybe she didn't have the money to pay the ticket.
I dont get it.
Why is that even a crime?

That was probably only one of her charges. More than likely, she had warrants for other crimes.
[sarc]Yeah. She might not be guilty of failing to neuter her cat, but I bet she's guilty of something. Lock her up.[/sarc]
she looks like she needs to be sterilized
