Bport played a real team.
Not a weak 1a
2a or 3 a

Given credit for taking a challenge

Baylor is on tonight!

The only playoff bound Wise County team is Bridgeport!

Sorry Others!

Time to regroup and consider whether the coaches will be back!

What has happened to Decatur football? They were tough for a long time but now they're weak every year.

8:44 It the coach =Story all he can think about is TURF and Jumbotrons lighted workout fields and TURF TURF TURF. Its past time to clean house and tell the bunch at the school board they are next.

Anonymous said...

Yeah 7:06, Cartwright better be worried, I am sure he is feeling the pressure.

Anonymous said...

Boyd 26-27? The game did not feel that close.

Anonymous said...

Bport played as bad as i ever seen them play. They need to wake up and realize their s_it does stink. The head coach needs to let coach Hart do his job.

Time for Change!

I agree 9:10. It is the coach. I went to the game Friday night and watched those boys try their hardest, but when the sure thing was to kick the ball for a field goal and have the three points or go for it on 4th down and 1 yard to go. Decatur went for it. They were unsure of the plays and looked exhausted and when they did run the ball was either side to side or even backwards.
I graduated from Bridgeport, and Decatur was the best and toughest team in the county then, now it is the other way around. (remember Bridgeport had some rough years before they found this coach)

Only Chico has the courage to change coaches when things head south. Other boards don't seem to step up.

Anonymous said...

Why do ya tink they are losing.
Playing the wrong kids
It is hard to fire you kids coach!
Might cost him playing time.

funny headline , barry

you have know idea what you're talking about. times like these its just best to keep your fingers off the keyboard.

henson has nothing to do with hart. hart is a defensive line coach, his job is to coach the dline, who is currently wrecking other teams oline and back field. soooo just be quiet.

NO ONE can say Decatur just doesn't have the athletes anymore. Phooey on that! The athletes are there. ANYONE who says Story is a good coach should be ashamed! How long has it been since Decatur went 3 or even 2 deep into the playoffs? Decatur is losing its spirit, its drive and its TRADITION of being a football powerhouse. In fact, many of the programs are suffering. (especially the girls programs!) Cross Country does well, so keep that coach. Tell the others to look elsewhere now! IT IS PAST TIME TO LET STORY go! I agree.......if the board does not take action after this season and fire Story, then vote them all off! I AM SICK TO DEATH of Decaturs football teams losing year after year! STORY has trashed the DHS EAGLES POWERHOUSE tradition!

Anonymous said...

Fire Story......in Decatur
Is Hart.....trying to cut Hensons throat at B Port....I am guessing so.....wiggle your way in Pete
Does it matter who coaches Chico?? Could Lombardi change that place....the gene pool is awful
Neighbors will go 10-1 AGAIN.....let him go
Dewebber......WASTE
Cartwright...your old...go fishing

Decatur has a tradition of being a football powerhouse?
I just can't remember that year they won a state title... but man those were the days!

Why don't any of you get this fired up over educational performance in our schools?

Anonymous said...

Decatur has a great team a couple of years ago.
Their enrollment is lower than the other schools in their district and that is why they can't compete.
It isn't the coaching!
It's no talent.
Watchem and see.

Anonymous said...

Bridgeport's enrollment is less than Decatur. The idea that Hart is trying for Henson's job is completely stupid. With Henson's winning record, his job is NOT in jeopardy.

Anonymous said...

Enrollment figures for District 7
Bridgeport 619
Decatur 857
Ft Worth Castleberry 854
Lake Worth 649
Mineral Wells 961

Decatur-
Hodges is the best football player in the county. Story is still the same coach who beat the Bulls several years in a row and got knocked off by eventual state champions. Instead of helping team come together, parents complain about kid's playing time.

Bridgeport-
Only loss is to a well coached Alvarado team. 4-1 in pre-district ain't too shabby.

Chico-
Mom said if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all. I feel sorry for the kids in Chico who were robbed of the influence of a great coach and wonderful man.

Alvord-
Coach D and staff can work as hard as they won't, but there won't be a real winning program until there is a little forgiveness, and the community learns to pull together for the kids.

Paradise-
The name says it all.

Boyd-
Hmmm, are they putting manure on the sideline in the new place?

All Decatur thinks about is Turf. Please Please school board get rid of Story and keep your real grass field . They need a new coach not a 30 year note for Turf.

M-M said...

That was some of the worse Decatur football I have ever witnessed. Poor play and poor coaching. Can't tell ya the number of times I saw the Decatur defense line up with too few defensive backs to cover the receivers. Can we count to three? If there are 3 receivers you need 3 defensive backs to cover them. When you are in the first half, you need to get points when you can. Kick those field goals when you can.

The kids at Chico have a better coach and someone who really cares about the well being of all programs. The progrtam didnt get to where it is over night. It took Hart 8 years to tear it down. If it a year or two.....changes are great so far. The new guy is doing it the right way.

Get rid of Story? Good luck with that!

There are at least two pseudo Bible thumpers on the Board that will protect him till the 2nd Coming. Not to mention that one of the newly elected board members campaigned on "we need turf to keep Story."

Our coach showed his real character when he didn't deal honestly with the hazing in the dressing room his first years here.

And over time player's parents have learned kids of complaining parents don't get too much playing time.

Don't dispair though. We may have him forever, but our field house will be spotless, our kids won't get dirty on the turf or wet practicing in the indoor practice facillty. Our uniforms will be the latest fad not to mention all the colorful wristbands.

Settle down, learn to take the joy where you can find it.

Maybe Decatur just ran into a good football team in Iowa Park.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't the board ever think about a new coach for Boyd?

Anonymous said...

8:57, there must be many "Iowa Parks" in the last several years then. Problem is the Eagles used to always be the "good football team." Coach needs to go!

Anonymous said...

Decatur must have run into ALOT of good teams in the last few years.
Story has to go and any one that votes for Turf has to go with him next election. Amen

Anonymous said...

The Eagle cycle: Occasionaly a groups of Eagles are so talented that even poor coaching can't keep them from winning.

They advance to the playoff where they encounter equally talented players but with proper coaching.

Result: Early exit from playoffs

Hodges is the best football player in the county. Story is still the same coach who beat the Bulls several years in a row and got knocked off by eventual state champions. Instead of helping team come together, parents complain about kid's playing time. AGREED

Bridgeport-
Only loss is to a well coached Alvarado team. 4-1 in pre-district ain't too shabby. - AGREED

Chico-
Mom said if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all. I feel sorry for the kids in Chico who were robbed of the influence of a great coach and wonderful man. AGREED - not saying the new coach won't try - but winning in Chico doesn't come easy or quickly. This year's prediction 0-10, just like last year.

Alvord-
Coach D and staff can work as hard as they won't, but there won't be a real winning program until there is a little forgiveness, and the community learns to pull together for the kids. - AGREE with the statement "work as hard as they WON'T!" They don't WANT to work hard. It will take more than forgiveness for this group. The whole town needs an overhaul!

Paradise-
The name says it all. DISAGREE - they are one and done in the play-offs.

Boyd-
Hmmm, are they putting manure on the sideline in the new place? AGREED - Smells like it!

10:44- ur an idiot. if you knew anything about iowa parks offense, you would know that they run the tigh, double wing offense which means they only pass the ball 3, maybe 4 times a game. therefore, decatur plans all week to stop the run and if they get caught off guard a time or two, so be it. it happens, but before you start critisizing the secondary or coaches, know your facts retard!

and for all of you that want story gone, please shut the hell up. have you ever considered that he is a normal person too? do u just expect him and his family, in which he has 2 children in high school, to pick up everything he has and just leave? yeah, i didnt think so. put yourself in his shoes. as a former player of him, i will say that he is an amazing coach, and role model. the things we learn in the decatur football program go far beyond the seasons record. they continually taught us life lessons and how to become a better man. so what if he hasnt won a state title or had a few off seasons. who cares. will it really matter who won what game 10, 20 years down the road. i didnt think so either. so please get out of your little self centered worlds that you are all living in and have some decency and consideration for other ppl. be the grown up that you all claim to be, and quit talking shit behind other ppls backs. theres my 2 cents for the day. have a splendid week to all of wise county.

The Rascals need to stand up and make a change!

In 20 to 30 years you will Still be payin for that turf you think yall need to keep that hasbeen Story and his kid around here. Like you said who will care if you have grass or turf to play on but I bet you will and you grandkids will care about that note they are still havin to pay for.

Anonymous said...

I don't mind paying a little extra for turf...

Anonymous said...

Honestly - no one cares about turf....just let the kids play and move on!

Anonymous said...

5:42, you're the retard. Iowa Park has a new coach and a new offensive playbook. They scrapped the double wing and have come to the modern era of offensive sets.

Geesh! You obviously did not attend the game. You, kind sir, are an idiot.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of idoits - 3:49 is right. It will take more than forgiveness to fix that mess they are in. They need to right a wrong, and put Enis in charge of the boys program. That is the only way Alvord will be able to "move forward", on and off the field!

7:25 AM"

I watched the Ranger game, Let's see, the players were lazy, the fans were sitting on their duffs, the cheerleaders throw footballs/seat cushins in the stands at the end of the quarter (b/c they know their boys probably won't score) and the coaches (yes all of them) were trying harder to coach the reffs instead of their players...right to the very end, they were setting up their end of game speach to the kids for their loss, "the reffs beat ya'll"! Just sayin what I noticed.
