Story. The story is that it wouldn't happen this week but would if they lose to the Texans and go to 0-3.

Firing coaches is a cop out. I don't really know if Phillips is the problem or if it's the "genius" offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett. It still comes down to players and execution. Coaches don't block, tackle of catch passes. But Jerry Jones isn't going to fire himself or his son so he may need someone to be the scapegoat.
Sometimes firing coaches IS a cop out. But sometimes the coaching really is the problem. The concensus seems to be that Wade is a very good defensive coordinator, but as head coach...meh I have no doubt that an 0-3 Cowboys team will be announcing a new head coach next week
It's true that coaches don't block, tackle or commit penalties, but players don't plan schemes, call plays, set discipline, or adjust players' attitudes
You're right about Jerry, though. He is part of the problem in that he doesn't give his head coaches free rein over the team. The problem probably won't get fixed until he realizes that and corrects it
guys, please...all they need to do is watch the tape and continue to get better day by day and week by week. they are able to learn from themselves and get better. Besides, if something in sports is the worst thing that ever happens to them, they've all lived pretty good lives.
seriously, this team can't get out of its own way because the owner isn't committed to winning. Oh sure, Jerry WANTS to win, he just doesn't have the ability to surrender control to someone who knows how to make that happen. He probably relates well to the Apostle Paul who wrote: Oh wretched man that i am, For i do not understand my own actions...For i have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.
I don't think it will be any of the coaches mentioned. Strong personalities. We will probably get another weak coach (i. e. Gailey, Campo)before the thing hits bottom again. Jerry (under pressure)will then hire a real coach who will only stay a couple of years before he has had enough. Talent will improve in those 2 years (giving hope) only to be dashed later by Jerry's inability to evaluate talent (i. e. Joey Galloway, Roy Williams)when he takes back over. Throws money at it freely but it doesn't work.
Face it, as long a Jerry is GM the Cowboys will be mediocre and as long as he is alive, Jerry will be GM. The cycle will continue on and on .. weak coach, talent declines, 5-11 seasons. Strong coach builds talent back up to 12-4 season losing in the 1st round of playoffs until coach is fed up.
Forget the NFL...watch NCAA Football, much more exciting and they play for free! If the players aren't good enough, they sit on the bench and get replaced immediately!
How ticked would Jerry be if the Houston Texans find a way to play in his palace and his Super Bowl. Texans v Redskins in the SB might just send him over the edge....
FYI, J. Garrett was put in place BEFORE Wade Phillips was even hired. The Offense is what sucks. How in the hell is Wade responsible for Garrett, when he didn't hire him?

Kill two birds with one stone...show Romo the door at the same time...
That way you get rid of apathy and apologetics!

Wade Phillips is a guy that you love to be your next door neighbor.... but not your head football coach.
He's a "nice" guy... but "nice" guys don't get the best out of their players.
He sets the tone.... and the tone isn't ready to step up.

Jerry Jones needs to fire his General Manager.
"IF they lose to the Texans?" You kidding me?
Kill two birds with one stone...show Romo the door at the same time...
This is such an idiot remark. There are so few teams with better Qbacks and far more with worse. Your a moron!
1. Romo is not the problem.
2. The Cowboys suck.
3. Houston is going to ROLL them on sunday.

wade in charge of defense. defense pretty good.
garrett in charge of offense. offense sucko mucho.
I heard Wade was going to show the world he is a tuff bad-a$$ by going out on the field and dropping wolf bait on national TV.
That....would be intimidating.
Pretty sure Reggie Bush didn't play for free.
That's right. I played for free and that is what I tried to tell all of those crackers in the NC2A. It was my MOMMA that was gettin' paid.
DF Reggie Bush
