Rumor Worth Publishing: Children Are Being Left Behind Today In Chico

There was a water leak in a City line, and it affected the elementary school. Water was off while the leak was being fixed. I believe it has been repaired now.

Their not there....you go to school in Chico or something?

Anonymous said...

What parents, in their right mind, would do their children the disservice of placing them in that school district?

Anonymous said...

Here's another bit of info: The porta potty company is owned by a Chico school board member!

Anonymous said...

12:58..so because of an unpreventable water issue it becomes a bad district? I would send my child to a port-a-potty long before i let them go to a school for months in a school with no heater because the ignorance of the district would rather spend their money on a turf football field for a below average football team...

The whole school board robs the district of money with no bid contacts for the school construction. Drive by the sIte any day and you will see it for yourself. The super ignores it because of fear of the board. Hundreds of thousands stolen from tax payers and the paper refuses to publish it. Thank god we have Barry!!

The City of Chico cannot help it if a water line breaks. In the repair of it some residents, homes, offices, businesses, and schools may have to use other facilities for a time.

Thank You,

Thank you very much,

What difference does it make if a school board member has the port-a-potty business. There isn't another one in the area. When you gotta go, you gotta go and a port-a-potty is better than nothing.

Biff Tannen said...

I live down the street from a water tower in Chico and still get low water pressure a few times a month. I wonder how many times its dropped below minimum pressure and the city never issues a boil order.

Which, if there was a line break and the system lost pressure, shouldn't there be a boil order released?

Le sigh.

Signed,
Biff Tannen

P.S. Ms. Barrett, you may be able to tell people what to do on the City Council, but that doesn't extend to the internets.

Leanna Moss said...

You know, I have set back and whatched you people talk about my husband and the people he sits on the board with for the last time. I have tried to ingore the ignorance of it all but some how someone always brings it to my attention. So, for you people out there that feel like you are being cheated or stolen from, here is what I am going to do for you. Since you are so smart I'm sure you know how to get a hold of me so I dare you to meet me for lunch someday and I will gladly show you my husbands contract with the school, because if you were smart enough well then you would know that its is all public record, and incase you are wondering it is all leagal and binding no steeling going on here. If the truth be known he probably did it too cheap trying to save the school some money.

I don't know what my husband did to any of you that relentlessly take jabs at him on this blog but I am sure you could never even come close to measuring up to the kind of person he is. He has given and unmeasurable amount of time and donations to that school and the community because its his home, and maybe if more people would take giving back to our home community more seriously then Chico would have a better reputation.

One last thing before I sign off, anyone can hide behind an anonymous name. Someone as smart as your self surely has the guts to sign your real name. (BE BRAVE) SIGN YOUR REAL NAME, PLEASE!!!!!!!

As long as your husband followed all the rules the state puts forward he has more than done his job.

1.)Did himself, Mr. Raley, Mr. Coffman, Mrs. Arrendondo, and Mr. Maddux obstain from any votes on his contracts?

Texas local government code states that anyone having substantial interest in the business must obstain. Well that knocks out your husband. But it also states that anyone receiving at least ten percent of there income must obstain . There went Mrs. Arrendondo. Thats chapter 171 of the local government code. Why the others you ask? If you go on to read further into the code it states that anyone working for a business that does more than five thousand dollars worth of work per year with the said business cannot as well. Hence the other members.

2.) All the mentioned board members stated above filed the necessary paperwork and made it available on the schools website. Thats section 171.004 of the Texas Local Government code.

3.) Section 176.001 goes on to define exactly why all the other board members wouldnt be able to vote that were stated above.

You might want to learn what your talking about before you get on here spouting off things. By the way it goes on to outline that each violation of this is a Class C misdemeanor for all that violated the LAW. You can get on here saying whatever you want trying to make it sound good but your husband stole from the school he swore to serve. I noticed you didnt mention that the supervisor your husband hired for the Chico job was employing him at the other school districts he was building in a obvious quid pro quo.

Ill be sure to print all this stuff off and get it, along with the laws your husband broke sent off to the local DA, Devon corporate, the attorney generals office, and the local papers. Have a nice day Mrs. Moss.

You can look any of this up also. Its black and white letter of the law.

Way to go Leanna!!!

I bet whoever the "Anonymous" Person is won't have lunch with you. I will buy if they do though because I would to be able to tell them myself what all you and Craig do not only for the school district but the community. Like helping the different organizatons for children become a success, donations made to help others, and not to mention the new businesses that you have opened. This not only helped the community people but also gave jobs to people who needed them.

Thanks,

How much did the schools electritian bill yall for wiring the new office leanna? Free materials right? So yall bid everything yall did at the school or was some of it given to yall without bids? Funny the one company that did bid against yall on the dirt work doesn't even exist. Contractor brought that bid in right? Sounds like the contractor and your hubby have a racket going.

Oh my freaking gosh, grow up. Instead of bashing Chico, the city, and the school district, why don't you do something to help them? Chico is a part of Wise County, if you didn't notice. I can't wait for Barry Green to need somewhere to go...he's pretty full of it already.

Anonymous said...

FYI, the company shown in the picture isn't owned by a board memeber! But good try though! Get your facts right before you go writing ignorant things on the internet! And also when all the other districts in Wise county become perfect then maybe come back and try to tell the people in Chico how to run things! You obviously dont know the Mosses or any of the other board members like the Coffmans or the Raleys because if you did you would be ashamed to talk down about them, because they are some of the best people that you ask for!

Thanks!

I would sleep in that port-a-potty before I climbed on here anonymously and started thrashing other peoples success. For some reason, Chico has always been the laugh of the county for you "high and mighty's". So Chico has a water line break and the kids need to take a dump, I would say thats a pretty sweet hook-up if im stuck at school and gotta take the Browns to the super bowl! Thank you Noel and Leann. They are hands down some of the best people I've ever met, along with their school board members. They are humans, and we dont expect them to be perfect, but as far as being compassionate people that care about the well-being of their community (including all of you that have probably stopped off in one of Noels blue rooms and choose to slam him here), you will never find better. This also includes Craig Moss. These guys care about their school, their community, and their friends. In THIS town, all three of those are the same. I guess they could always make "intellegent" school board moves and try to get some TURF!! GO TEAM! Long story short, you do it better.

Way to go LeAnna! As a citizen of Chico and someone that has children in that school I am thankful that in a situation like the city water line breaking that there was a porta potty business so close and that the Ruddicks were able to provide my kids as well as the entire school a place to use the restroom. What would you haters like for the school to have done...tell the kids to wait until 3:30??? I randomly check this blog and am always amazed what people sit and blog and gossip about all day! Seriously! As for the Moss and Ruddick haters....is it a jealousy issue??? Both families have time and time again given time, equipment and donations to not only the schools, the city and the ballparks in chico so why bash them so much. Has to be jealousy, maybe you envy their success or maybe you were a terrible employee they once fired...what is it? And one more thing to ponder....Barry operates this blog daily, so if you have hired him to represent you, have you ever wondered how much $$money he has charged and how possible that some of that time he is blogging??? I'm going to assume that the people that do use Barry as an attorney must do it because they are not aware of his wisecounty.com blog.

Get a life people!

Thank you Leanna!

I am confused as to why a school board member owning a porta-potty company is robbing the district of money. I work for that porta-potty company and I can guarantee you that the owner, which also HAPPENS to be a school board member, is harding working, dedicated, and honest. He has worked hard for 7 years to build his porta-potty business. He is a kind hearted and generous young man. He also gives alot, not only to the Chico community but to other surrounding counties as well. He does not spend his time reading or commenting on this blog, running down the community where he lives and strives to help make it a better place. He does not ridicule other businesses owners. He does not put others down to build himself up.

I am also the spouse of a school board member. My husband has spent many sleepless nights over the tough decisions the board has had to make. Not only are some of the decision unpopular with voters in the community but they affect the lives our friends. Unfortunately the board members are not there to win a popularity contest they are there to run a business and make decision that is in the best interest of the school district and the students. The Chico School Board consist of outstanding citizens and businessmen and women. You may not agree with all there decisions but I am sure none of them were made lightly. A little respect for the tough decision would be nice.

Notice the spelling champ leanna shut up when the law came out. No comment to the truth? No response to the quid pro quos? How bout that free electrical job? Any response to the no-fake bid work? As far as raleys, ruddicks, coffmans no one that knows them will say a bad thing because there's nothing bad to say. Good people. But it's time that people realized it's easy to give to a community when everything you got was there's in the first place. Mrs Raley why don't you ask your husband to follow up on the laws referenced. By law he himself must report the broken laws to the TEA. Let's see if he chooses to hide it under the rug.

Anonymous said...

I would like to know just whom you think would be on the school board in Chico if it were not
Mr. Coffman, Mr. Raley,
Mr. Moss.ect.... I don't see a big line of people asking for the JOB...that is right it is a JOB...entails WORK...for NO GLORY. My hat is off to all the residents of Chico and the school board members and the business owners who support our kids.

Our forefathers had to go to an outhouse when some of us are so arrogant to imply that our children are somehow being belittled to have to use a portapotty....SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

Thank God all school districts are not the same...then we would lose our freedom of choice, but as some of you have demonstrated you should lose your freedom of speech...oh I forgot...you chose to remain annomoyous therefore you forfiet your opinion as far as I am concerned.

To the people of Chico, rest easy it is my thought that the only reason these people put you down is because they are somehow trying to make themselves look better.

Tristyn Hand/5:14PM, get your head out of the clouds. You don't have to live in the shadow of some of these people.

You mentioned Coffman, well let me tell you about living next to his business. The noise, dust, pollution, lights, and having to dodge the cannonballers that leave the lot.

When he was asked to lower the lights that were blinding people at night his reply was "I'm a million dollar producer." One can only imagine what exactly he produces.

Finally, being complicit in the poisoning of the county's water supply. No, they don't produce the waste. But they certainly have no problem dumping it. We'll see who the first is to leave the city when the water becomes undrinkable.

Being a member of a oligarchical family, you'd be the last to see this. Normally I'd say one day you'd realize it, but living here has shown me none of you ever will.

if he followed the rules then where are the required notices at on the schools website? just getting on here and saying he is a nice guy doesnt make what he did right. he broke the rules and got called out on them and now your mad. maybe he did it on accident maybe he did it because the oil field was slow and it was a guaranteed check since he hired the guy that was hiring him and all. either way it was wrong. no one is debating he did a good job. no one is debating that he gives to the community. the facts are he broke the law. the facts are he has a quid pro quo with the contractor to get the work at the other districts. the facts are that the electrician came and wired yalls shop with out the costs you should have incurred because they were doing the schools work. the facts are that he got jobs he didnt bid on because he was a board member. the facts are that he NEVER could have gotten the jobs that he did because the LAW doesnt allow for it. the facts are the facts mrs. moss and its very obvious that your husband broke the law. now to see if the rest of the board does the right thing and turns it over to the TEA or tries to cover it up. if there is nothing to hide and nothing been done wrong then i invite you to publish the bids of the contracts he got in the newspaper with the required public notices of bid on the jobs. then everyone can see that the company he bid against was a fake company and they other jobs were given to him without bids being placed or public notification of open bids. facts are facts and you cant deny them on the grounds that he really is a good guy.

I find it interesting that those who like to bash others are hiding behind an "anonymous" posting which tells me they are cowards. However, just because the posting is anonymous doesn't mean that the IP address can not be traced. This means that if ONE wanted to file charges for Defamation of Character ALL the local authorities/FBI would have to do is trace the IP address. It is much easier than you think.

Man, what a day to tune into the internets late!

I grew up and went to school in Chico. I'm proud to call it home and can't complain about the current school board. That's a job where somebody is always going to be pissed off at you about something. I know all the members and don't make a nickle from any of them so you can't call my opinion bought. I think they truly have the student's best interest in mind by serving and are trying to give back to their community.

I also agree if you're going to call someone out you should have the guts to sign your name to it. It's too easy to hide behind an anonymous internet post. Better yet, show up and participate at the board meetings.

Having GTG right down the road when there was a potty crisis was sheer luck. Maybe the haters would have preferred to make the kids hold it until we could bid out a contract and have old State Fair poopers shipped in.

Back in the day, Coach Turner would have just told us to run out behind the Ag building.

Water leaks are fairly common, and believe it or not, they don't just happen in Chico.

Noel Ruddick's business has been a great help in this situation. We should consider it a blessing that the children we care about have access to SOME kind of restroom while these repairs are being made.

I think we should look at the big picture here, and stop using every little problem as an excuse to ridicule and attack people in our community.

Ma'am, you are dealing with Internet Tough Guys who are no different than cockroaches who come out when they think no one can see them. When you turn the lights on them they skitter away to wait for their next opportunity to come out, when no one is looking, and they will not get caught and crushed.

Just a word of advice, this is the Interweb...it does not matter in your REAL life unless you allow it to matter. If you are unable to laugh at the pathetic, dredges of society who, only on the Interweb, make personal attacks you need to stay away from Barry's Toxic Blog and tend to those whom you love and love you.

More information can be found by reading this blog like the City of Chico using our sales tax dollars to help put in Wise Dollars. It is a nice store; however, we didn't need it since we are only a few minutes from two better dollar stores in Bridgeport. Economic develoment tax dollars would be better used to create jobs, not used for retail businesses like Wise Dollar or the Subway.

The Chico ISD school board needs to do a better job in preparing students for college or life. Too many parents transfer their kids out of the district because of this. Building a new high school will not prepare kids for college or for skills to make a living. Firing a coach and later using our tax dollars, that would be better spent in increase in teachers salaries or educational tools, to pay out his contract before the public had an opportunity to speak to the issue is a violation of the open meetings act. Coach Hart could have filed a law suit; but being the good guy he is, he didn't. Also, I've heard all the boy coaches have left. Were they fired or were they paid out of their contracts with our tax dollars?

To the city council member who responded and the wife who responded, the response was emotional but did not provide Chico residents, who are not in the know, a true picture of what is going on.

To the City council member, instead of spending money on buying property for another retail establishment, please spend money to filter the water. My new shower is covered in lime and we have to buy water to make tea and coffee. We use chemicals to clean the dishwasher. It is crazy not to put in a treatment filter instead of giving our tax dollars (sales tax is still our tax dollars) to occupy a vacant building.

To all the bashing of those who do not want to give their names, there is a reason. This blog does not require names in order for people to be free to use their right of free speech. Any elected office is subject to being critized and if you don't want it, don't run for public office. A woman defending her man is not very becoming on any blog. Most readers can sift through the postings.

To protest economic money being spent on Wise Dollar, I will shop in Bridgeport until we can use our water to make tea and coffee! Hopefully some people who care more about learning than football, will run for the school board.

Exercising my right to free speech and privacy, I will not be intimidated into using my name.

How about the EDC money going to new storage buildings on a county road? Isn't the purpose of EDC money to generate jobs and sales tax? How do storage buildings generate any of that? They don't. Didn't Moss get a little EDC money for his new shop? How many slices of a pie can one company get? Sure seems like he has taken alot more FROM the community than people realize.

If you do not like how your city government is spending your tax dollars, run for office and/or show up with other like minded citizens at council meetings.

BTW...You need to climb down off that lofty perch you have cobbled together, for yourself, out of the U.S. Constitution. Included in your "right to free speech and privacy" is not anonymity on a blog. Blog anonymity is not a right, it just so happens you are afforded anonymity on Barry's Blog.

8:57 We have the advantage of a great little grocery store here in Chico that I will always support because we have seniors who need it. And we have a great hardware store that is very convenient.

City councils should be careful in using tax dollars for retail. It should be to meet the needs, not the wants of the tax payers. And I bet my family was here in Chico before yours, as if that has anything to do with anything.

Anonymous said...

A person does not have to put up or shut up about elected public officials. It is silly to even go there because it is like saying one can't disagree with Congress or the President, unless you run for Congress. This forum is one way to let public officals know when they disagree or have good ideas to solve problems. Going to public meetings do little to help solve problems. Hopefully someone who has the time who wants to serve on the school board or city council will run to address issues discussed on this thread.

I dont claim to be an economical genius, but im fairly sure that opening up a consumer based business(i.e Subway, Wise Dollar, in a small town gave people job opportunities. So if you want your tax dollars spent on jobs, seems like whoever was responsible for that money did just exactly that.

For all of the people that cry about businesses such as Coffman and Craig Moss, are you kidding? How many peoples husbands or wives or relatives are employed by these people in this town? And your mad about some LIGHTS? sheeeesh. Slip on down to Wise Dollar and get you some blinds, or a nice set of curtains!

The water that he hauls is not his product. The gas industry had a need, and he filled it. That is how every successful business on earth was started. His disposals are up to code, he treats his employees well, and his business has helped many people keep their families afloat during tough economical times. There is absolutely no shame in that.

I really think this is ridiculous. I grew up in Chico then moved to Decatur. I have lived in Decatur for about 13 to 14 years now. I still know many people in Chico. Alot of them have posted blogs already about this topic. One being the mayor Mr. J.D Clark. There are alot of good hearted people in Chico who try to do the eat they can to help the community. Water breaks happen and a temporary fix is needed. The temporary fix being the porta pottys. It's not permanent. So get over it. Better than not having any sort of restroom at all. Better than teaching children that it is ok to go in their pants again. Amazing how people argue how bad the people of Chico handle things when it probably wouldn't be any different than anywhere else. So people who have a problem with this temporary fix, grow up. Everything can't always be perfect. When something happens as like this, a temporary solution is needed and was done. To all the school board members and to the business owners in Chico, thank you. These people make the best decisions to help this town. I have a long family history in Chico. I own 56 acres in Chico. Chico is a town full of pride and good hearted people. Leave it alone. They are doing a fine job.

To the Ruddick family - Thank you for responding so quickly to what could have become a crisis at our Elementary school. I heard today that the use of the port-a-potties was donated. That is surely the action of someone who wants to steal from the Chico taxpayers!

To the Moss family - Thank you for employing over 30 men and women (I'm guessing on the number) that reside and pay taxes in Chico.

To all Chico school board members: Thank you for your dedication to our children.

Okay i have not read all of the comments but i have read the majority of them.. There is no reason at all for people to be so hateful.. Chico has a very wonderful school district.. If i was still in Denton where i grew up I might not have had the opportunities that i have had.. The Hands and Moss' and everyone else have generously given to our school and community when they didnt have to.. No one asked them to.. They do it because they care about Chico..
I think every single one of the board members for doing there job.. If you dont agree with them then that is your problem..

So what if the kids have to use porta-pottys that have volgur things written in them.. Im sure they hear or see that volgur language in their own homes..
Like someone said earlier.. Its better using a porta-potty than nothing at all..
Every town has its own problems and not just in WiseCo.. And no district is smarter or dumber than the next..

I read all these responses and my first thought is that we should knock over that sign that calls Chico the Limesone Capitol of Texas and change it to The Axe Grinding Capitol of the world. Maybe the EDC of Chico could build a big shop so we could import more axes and grind them for other communities.

Why would anyone think that Chico is a trailer trash community? Why would anyone think that just because a family is big name in Chico that there is something nefarious about their dealings with the School District?

I'd say it is just pure, sour grapes. I'm not a prominent person in Chico. Never been rich, likely never will be. Some folk on here spit the name Hand, Moss, Ruddick, Coffman and others like they are some foul and offensive word.

As far back as I can remember, those name have only meant good things to me. People to look up to. Work ethics to be admired and aspired to. If they appear to have an inordinate amount of success, and through that riches, you might stop and consider that they earned it.

Before you disparage their successes, take a minute and wonder if you have ever stuck your own neck out to take a risky venture. They have. I believe that they are so blessed because they should be.

How many jobs have they provided? How many opportunities that might not have existed without them?

To have the nerve to come on an open forum and anonymously attack them only shows to me that you cannot outlaw classlessness, but also that Chico gets its bad reputation because of the likes of you.

I challenge you to man up and contribute something to this community besides childish vitriol and snide accusations. IF you think you have something that will stick, drag your tired bottom to the courthouse and present it. Get your name in the paper.

Otherwise, do us all a favor and take up something less taxing to your small, clueless mind, like tiddlywinks.

I am not from Chico, nor do I ever plan to live there because of the stigma associated with the place. I do have friends there who are grieved by the state to which Chico has sunk. Seems the community makes the news weekly in a negative manner. This fighting on the blog is a prime example of the ignorance which appears to be rampant there.
FYI -
"there" indicates a place
"their" indicates ownership
"they're" is a contraction for they are
"your" indicates ownership
"you're" is a contraction for you are
"a lot" is two words
apostrophes show ownership and letters omitted - they DO NOT form plurals
If you bloggers consider yourself educated people, use a dictionary. Maybe Leanne sells them in her store.Your blog messages make some good points, but you present yourselves as uneducated red necks by the use of your grammar, vocabulary, and spelling.
Regarding bashing of the school board - did Coffman graduate from high school or did he get a GED? Apparently, he is a very nice man who does a lot for the community, but does not have any significant education on his resume.
How about Buckner? Did he graduate from high school?
How many school board members have a college education besides Raley? ALL of the teachers in Chico Schools do. The board has several uneducated people making the decisions - what's wrong with this picture?
The people I call friends from Chico are wonderful people. One called me about 4:00 to get me to read all this because it is so typical of the culture of the community. Keep on keeping on - you only solidify outsiders' beliefs about what Chico is all about. It is truly sad.

Wow! Seems someone is a bit of an elitist!!! Where did Senator Byrd, one of the oldest Senators in the US Senate go to college? He didn't... Where did all of the founding fathers of this country go to college? Only Jefferson attended college.

Some of the most stupid people I have ever had the misfortune of meeting have a college degree. Some of the most intelligent visionaries I have met do not have a college degree, some had the audacity to work towards and receive their GED...

When I lived in the big town of McKinney, people griped about MISD and McKinney. Now here in the small town of Chico, people gripe. Seems your educational, financial, or spiritual level doesn’t matter much. Some people just choose to grip and be unhappy.

Last Saturday, I watched several of the afore mentioned people donate several thousand dollars in support of a teacher at Chico ISD that is battling cancer. THANK YOU!!! If you don't want to be around those type of people, please leave….

The Ruddick's, Coffman's, Moss's, and Raley's go above and beyond to support our kids and our youth organizations. THANK YOU!!! If you don't want to be around those type of people, TYA (tear your asinine attitude) out of here.

If you read the minutes from board meetings and go back and check the bid notices posted in Chico Texan and at the Administration building, then you will realize that everything has been conducted legally and above board.

Additionally, Check out the AYP and accountability scores for Chico ISD. They are higher than most in the state.

My education from Chico was a great foundation for my Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. Education is 50% teacher and 50% student, Chico gave me an educational foundation. I used that foundation to learn and work at accomplishing my own educational goals. Goals that I set to be a success in my chosen career. I took the responsibility to improve myself, instead of blaming it on my K-12 education.

Just remember this, 80% of the people commenting on this link are stupid and mean spirited. God will handle the mean spirit. I wish the stupid was just ignorant. You can fix ignorant, but as Ron White Said, "You can't fix stupid".

Thank you to those that spend so much time improving our town.

I do believe that while the residents of Chico may not be all trash, the schools certainly encourage it. They actively chase out good teachers. A bastion of anti-intellectualism. My daughter had a excellent teacher, and the other parents always made comments on how her class was too hard for their precious little angels. They'd rather complain to administration than realize their crotchspawn was defective. No support, so she left. Realizing this wasn't an isolated case, I removed my children from the district. I willingly drive them 30 miles to another school.

To Layne Staley - Crotchspawn? Really? And you're insinuating that those of us in Chico have problems? Geez, such language shows your true class. Of course, I realize that's what's expected on Mr. Green's blog.

I went through school in Chico myself (for a few years, not K-12), but I have had all 4 of my children in school in Chico for their entire education. You'll, I'm sure, be sad to hear that they are neither retarded, nor backwards, nor have they suffered any ill effects from the education that they have received.

I am aquainted with all of the families mentioned in these posts, and I can assure you that they truly care about both their school and their community and support them very graciously both financially and with their time.

And I have to agree that people do not mind posting comments and hiding behind "anonymous" only proves their cowardice. I will defend both the school and the entire community of Chico, and do not mind at all posting my name. We in my family hold our head up high when we say, "yea, we live in Chico".

Cindy, John Adams, the second president of the United States and one of our most famous founding fathers graduated from Harvard. I'm reading the book, "John Adams" and perhaps will donate it to the Chico library.

School board members need to value a college education because the young people in our community will not be able to earn a good living without one in today's world. Yes, people can be successful without one by owning their own business; however, in today's economy it will not be easy to start up a business without a good education.

I would not vote for someone to be a board member unless they had earned a college degree.

Economic development sales tax dollars should do more than create a few minimum wage jobs. Perhaps the dollars could be used to improve the public library, or bring in a small business that would pay a living wage. Good jobs will grow a community.

Cindy, go back and study history.

Made you look...

First, I would love to borrow your John Adams book. All you have to do is tell me who you are and when you want to meet.

In all actuality I misspoke, I hate it when that happens. Let's look at the founding fathers in the historical perspective as the framers of the constitution. Of the 55 participants half had attended college. I believe about 26 actually graduated. Notably, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin did not attend or graduate from college. Also, Benjamin Franklin, one of the greatest inventors was self taught. As I remember and you would know more on this subject since you are reading the book and all. John Adams did not attend the constitutional convention. He might have been in Britain...

If you would extract yourself from that self imposed pedestal, at which this view is quite yucky, you might soon realize that you don't have to attend college to value the benefit of a college degree.

Good for you for voting. It is one of the greatest benefits given to us by the constitution.

Cindy, down playing people who work hard for years to earn a college degree will not challenge our young people in Chico to reach for something more than their parents have. It costs a lot of money to go to college. Many kids have to work or borrow money. A college degree is something no one can take away from you. In our family, kids are expected to go to college.

The point was for the benefit of our children, school board members should have a college degree in order to set the example for our children to follow. Yes, they are prominent and have a good living without one; however, most kids will not enjoy the time men could start up a business in this economy and restricted credit.

Our Chico kids need to understand how important preparing for life is by going to college or learning a trade. It is our responsiblity to help them unless their life goal is to drive a tank truck, run a back hole or deliver a port-a-potty.

You did not misspeak because you didn't know our history until you looked up what you were posting about trying to prove your point. Our founding fathers valued education. John Adams knew education was the cornerstone of our Republic.

It is not wrong to challenge our elected officials to rise above the status quo.

And if I wanted my house wrapped in toilet paper, I would give my name.
