Hey, we've got defibrillators now available in the courthouse. But I couldn't help but notice they were under lock and key.
As someone up there just told me, "We'll save your life so long as we can get a hold of the guys in maintenance to unlock it."

Come'on BG, think. Since when does common sense and logic mean anything? We have to do thing to show we care about safety and not hurting anyone's feeling. The only problem is people steal shit all the time, so we will pander to society for being a fat ass, religion, color, sexuality, economic status, but GOD (Allah to not offend anyone) forbid we trust people to do the right thing.
In case of emergency, Break the Glass...
The Sheriff's Office has one as well. Matter of fact, I see where the S.O. has about 25 to 30 of them for the patrol vehicles. I recall hearing in Court that the Sheriff got a grant for the purchase of them. In regards to the Courthouse, one person dies because the maint. dorks are nowhere to be found with a key, it will be an embarassment. The maint. folks do more hiding than working.
Barry if you let a little glass and a cheap lock prevent you from rendering aid to a dying person then you are a moron. Then again being an attorney you are probably always looking for the next lawsuit.
Got to be locked up, can't have someone steal the fancy heart startin' do hickey.
its designed to break the glass just like the old fire alarms
Waste.
Of.
Money.
Next thing you know we'll be seeing kids riding bicycles with helmets on.
We are a wussified society.
What percentage of the AEDs that have been granted in the last 5 years have been used?
My Grandfather bought one for him and my grandmother to keep at the house. He said he used it a week ago when is Viagra didn't kick in. I don't get it, why would we have that in the Courthouse?
AEDs are a good thing, as they allow the layperson who is not well-traineed in CPR to have half a chance at saving a life. They're worth the price if you use them only once!
Kids do and should wear helmets while riding a bike (grown-ups, too)
see you in the emergency room!
Don't let a little glass stop you from being a hero. These units will save a life if used with competent CPR.
On American Airalines Alone the AED is credited with saving 38 lives.
Use it wrong and get sued
just witnessed a man running (sprinting) from the hospital in Decatur and a doc (I guess) running after him. Soon some police vehicles are in the area....
If a grown kid or adult is not riding a bike in the street, not riding in a reckless fashion or at fast speeds, why is a helmet necessary? Little tots excepted, I see more joggers trip and fall in the park that I see people on bikes fall. Why aren't joggers supposed to wear helmets? And when I see people on bikes that do fall, it's usually when they are just getting on or off the bike...not even rolling.
12:22 "Why is a helmet necessary"? Ah, cause it could save your life?
12:09 you are an idiot. Doctors don't chase patients. If someone was chasing a guy, it was Security officers. What a dumbass you must be!
In case of lawyer heart-attack....wait for maintenance!
In fact, wait for the next full moon!
Is that Al Gore's lock box?
In fact, more keys may be distributed as office personnel throughout the courthouse get trained.
SHOCKING News
The AEDS that we have are not locked. The units have an alarm system that goes off when the unit is removed from the case. The key turns off the alarm so the unit can be taken out for service. I bet this one is like that.
Any additional news of the man running away from the hospital?
Isn't Under Lock and Key one of Dokken's albums?
I'd like to hook the AED to D Crane's balls and flip the switch.
I wonder if they have these in CHICO!
Helmets are just goofy for bicycles. We rode them everywhere for years and I never heard of a fatality from riding a little bike. Now, for motorcycles...different story. Anyone who makes their poor kid wear a helmet for a bicycle is a total dork and I bet you also make them wear galoshes and pocket protectors!
When I was younger i rode a bike and being a kid I wanted to jump the bike and see how far I could fly. I am glad my parents made me wear one. And kids as soon as you are not looking are going to do something like that.
God, I hate those Lance Armstrong wannabe bike riders. They dont follow the rules of the road but expect you to know what they are going to do at all times. Those people are all over Austin. My nemesis........
When we were kids we never wore helmets and I don't let my kids wear them. They need to understand that there is harm in anything and to be careful. Don't turn your kid into a pu$$y.
11:35 and 12:40,
Your kids already are. Thanks alot. At least the government will cover you hospital bill...you shiftless worthless commy.
HOLY CAT DROPPINGS BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO FAR....25 POSTS AND NO ONE HAS MENTIONED OBAMA, CONSERVATIVES,LIBERALS, DEMS OR REPUBS..............
THIS IS A NEW WORLD RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOMEBODY CALL RIPLEY'S
10:05 - you are DISMALLY wrong!!........at least two of the courthouse cleaning/maintenance crew have been there for YEARS, and take care of SEVERAL buildings that the county maintains. They work hard and clean the crap that you produce in the bathrooms!!
Shut up about this and if you don't like the way things are run, go by a county office, find out which one to go to for an application and attempt to get hired.
You have NO idea what these priceless employees do on a daily basis.
Shame on you!!
5:23, finally a communist comment. I AM NOT ALONE!!!!
yes this box has an alarm, thats what the round lock is for at the to right of the box.
this is not a break glass box, you open the door.
more keys as people get trained?? isnt that the magic of the AED, you dont need training to make it work?? anyone can use it and save a life.
Anyone can use it but it is most effective with CPR. Why don't we require more people to learn CPR?
12:22
You jog at 4 or 5 miles an hour. You ride a bike from 12 to 20 miles an hour. Bikers need helmets, joggers need knee pads.
Dokken? LOL! Wild mick rules! Got to party with him a few yers ago.
