I pretty much gave up on my continuing series of "And Another" which documented teachers having, uh, relations with their teenage male students. My basic schtick was to recommend probation depending on how hot the teacher was. Face it, I'll beat a dead horse as much as anyone but it's hard to keep the bit fresh.
But this girl got my attention. We've got a 37 year old teacher (above) and a 17 year old student.
Verdict: Oh, my.

Hot For Teacher

This is what the attorney said to the client after the guilty verdict? Perhaps you should utter that to your client the next time you lose a trial, Barry.
No matter what the "legalism" says.... it takes two and the subordinate isn't "not liable" for his action. Can't let him off if you are going to bury her life as we know it.
Yeah, the teach knows better, but the kids got off without a slap on the wrist.
Ridiculous...and the boy/man got off with nothing??? The justice system is not just.
Why could the 17 year old not keep his mouth shut? What a waste!! Now she'll get paroled and come back a lesbian. The only way I would have ever told is if she gave me the "Funk-Daila-Funk" and I had to see the doctor. Dumb kid!! Had the perfect trap and blew it. I would have told her if you stop meeting me in the locker room office, I will tell. Must have got it backwards.
Our justice system is completely f*cked if we're sending consenting adults to prison for this sort of thing. And don't give this he was 17 and she was a teacher crap.
There are easily explained reasons why people in positions of authority are NEVER permitted to engage in sexual behaviour with their subordinates/clients/students/patients.
1. To avoid an abuse of power.
2. To avoid a conflict of interest.
3. To avoid taking advantage of the psychological effects on the subordinate that the person of power has.
Professionals, and that description does indeed include teachers, know they are NEVER to engage in sexual behaviour with a subordinates/clients/students/patients. Professionals agree to not engage in sexual behaviour with subordinates/clients/students/patients and understand the ramifications of their behaving in an unethical/illegal manner. Twelve years is none too harsh a sentence for breaking an oath/the law when it comes to an abuse of power. What if it had been a married, balding, tubby 37 year old creepy dude who boned a 17 year old female student and perhaps knocked her up, how long a sentence would have been too long?
As for the Denton mugshots...Do you think those people, typically, walk around with tricked up hair or style it just for their book-in photo?
That ought to teach her a thing or two.
Why is it when a female teacher sleeps with a student, the teacher was seduced and "should" get probation. And then when a male teacher sleeps with a female student they "seduced" the student and get years of jail? Oh, right, double standards.
So now the big uproar will be that it was too much punishment. Why, because she is a woman? Who cares, equal rights=equal punishment.
Oh and a female teacher and female student= WIN and a free pass!
I want to see the kid who consented have his life ruined as well if they're doing this to her. I keep saying how screwed up the system is, and this is yet one more example of legalism at its worst. Somewhere in the legal letter of the law, they should make allowances for mutual consent in sexual cases, expecially for those over aged 14, which is DIFFERENT than raping a child, and for "intent", in the case of many manslaughter cases, which is NOT the same as taking a gun and going out and shooting someone on purpose.
Sounds like they were both at their respective sexual peaks.

Teachers, male or female, know that if they have sexual relations with a student, they are breaking the law. Period. Solicited or not. It is simply something they are not allowed to do and they know that when they decide to become a teacher. There are no exceptions! Some, however, decide that it is worth taking the chance then cry when they get caught. Male or female teacher - like the law or not - it is against the law and they know it so don't feel sorry for the ones who decide to break do it anyway!
1:22 PM--"It ain't over" was said by the defense attorney to the prosecuting attorney, not to his client. Maybe the fact that she falsely claimed at some point to have been raped by the male student brought about the long sentence.
Just what is gained by putting this woman in jail for 4 to 12 years? I would think loss of her job and her ability to teach minors would be penalty enough. This also goes for male teachers guilty of the same crime. More of the "victimless" crime stuff.

they should do good they are going to finally drop down to 1 A and they have some good JV and Freshman coming up. Hart asked for another year. They should have gave it to him. Now they get rid of him and still have to pay him a bunch of money. Only could happen in Chico.
