The Wise County Sheriff's Office weekly crime reports.
Edit: I received this photo Monday morning from a Decatur buddy who wrote: "A cool photo taken by Merrick this weekend with his cell phone. FYI - he exercised restraint and did not shoot."

deer hunting is mean but staring at your neighbor is much worse..what can be done about staring neighbors..?
And I can't wait to find out how the sheriff handled this complaint!
I love Bambi but if someone didn't hunt deer, Bambi would be an univited guest in my garden for lunch! And I wouldn't have venison chili that is low in fat.
My guess is the Bambi lovers are city slickers with a country weekend getaway with nothing more to do than wage war on hunters.
The hunters could take care of the airplanes by doing some practice shooting first and get on with their hunt. That good turn out to be more fun and a money making opportunity to lease out rights to shoot the planes down for a season.
Anyone who feeds deer and then one day shows up with a gun is not a deer hunter. He or she is a deer farmer. That's OK. I eat food raised on farms and I eat meat, so it would be hypocritical for me to blast people who harvest deer. I've been on these "hunts". Great experiences, great to be outdoors and to observe deer, turkey, pigs, bobcats, etc. I always chose not to fire because it just didn't seem like anything to be proud of. Instead, it felt like I was drawing down on an animal at the zoo. Why have a 12 or 14 point rack on my wall to tell others "yeah buddy....got that one while it was eating dinner at my feeder". Ooooo....big man. I don't have the heads of all the turkeys we've bought from the grocery store and eaten at Thanksgiving hanging in my living room. But again, it's OK if people want to do that; just call it what it is.
It seems the deer and wild hog population is doing well despite all the mean hunters who chum for deer. But I chum for fish too because I want to eat fish.
And I'm not over all the black-eyed peas those pesky deer ate when I couldn't bare to shoot one. It would not have been sporting of me to shoot them while eating food I planted.
Enought of that way of thinking. I lost my job and I can't afford steak or chili meat.
A true sportsman with a good sense of humor would not call the police, but take his trusty shotgun to the feeder and a box of shells (preferably 6 shot) for some target practice on the model airplane.
Hunter harassment is a pretty serious charge now. i believe it is either a class B or maybe an A. glad i live in texas where hunters still have a right
Is shooting down your tree hugging neigbor's airplane legal or do they have the right to the airspace above your deer feeders? Perhaps Barry will give us legal advise.
Those evil hunters. killing the large rodent deer. Keeping them from over populating and causing more car accidents. I bet they are police officers. Cause they always do wrong according to Barry's blog.
There really isn’t much hunting done around here but there are a lot of snipers waiting in their blinds or on their sniper perches. I haven’t seen a true hunter in years. I gave up the sport several years ago after exchanging gun fire with another hunter that was in a blind and mistaken us hiding in the brush as deer. He didn’t see the orange vest and only saw the brush moving.
Harrassing legal hunters as well as wildlife carries a hefty fine.. Need to vidio it and call game warden. Also can probably catch him a Walmart and beat the --it out of him.DAGO.

This happened at Pearl Harbor as well!

11:24 The start of World War II and now tree huggers and gun lovers are going at each other.

That's what I call fun!
Those people should move back to town. I see deer crossing the road every day, so I don't think they are going extinct any time soon.

9:44, I bet I know who your neighbor is. I think he pretends to work where I do.
And 10:33 hit it right on the nail. Good comment! One of the best I've read on this blog in a long time.

OMG I was thinking just what DC wrote ... I must have become a republican!!
I was planning on typing a comment about using a shot gun to knock it down, but I see I'm not the only one that thinks that way. LOL
Thats a good way to some 6 shot up-side the head.

That deer should have gotten smoked. Look at the rack on that thing. Pretty wall mounter
