Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • The Governor of South Carolina's press conference admitting the affair yesterday was a little bizarre. But I think one thing is clear: He loves that woman in Argentina.
  • I don't have the link, but one South Carolina paper is printing emails between the gov and his lover (that they've had since December.) Man, the governor is smooth. He has a future in trashy romance novels.
  • He had been considered a possible Republican presidential nominee for 2012. That is gone. Only Saints can be considered.
  • Unless your sin is old (see failed nominee John McCain who had an affair many years ago and ended up marrying her.)
  • I jogged early in the morning today (and I mean early). But the heat and the humidity was almost unbearable. I was soaking, soaking wet when I was through.
  • Odd moment yesterday (stay with me here). I'm stuck in a long line at a red light in Fort Worth. I've left a couple of car lengths in front of me to allow room for people that need to exit and enter a busy parking lot. Finally, traffic moves a few feet opening up a space on the other side of the "gap" so I make the decision to move forward. The car directly behind me takes my spot -- still leaving the gap in front of him. Then two cars collide and crash into him. It wasn't a bad wreck, but there was significant damage. Point of the story: 15 seconds earlier, I had been sitting in the spot which is now involved in the crash.
  • Fate? Naaa. Just lucky.
  • I don't know soccer, but the U.S. beating Spain appears to be a really big deal.
  • UT lost the final of the World Series last night. Man, LSU had a lot of people in Omaha (where the game was played.)
  • The Academy Awards are doubling the number of Best Picture nominees from 5 to 10. That also allows five extra movies to advertise they are a "Best Picture Nominee."
  • WBAP's Hal Jay, in all seriousness, said he wouldn't be upset if Hangover won Best Picture. Sheesh.
  • Saw a couple of news reports showing that Gov. Perry leads Kay Bailey in the most recent poll but with almost 40% of Texans undecided. Undecided?
  • Might be a little slow around here today. I've got a DWI trial. I'll try to Twitter updates if I get a chance.

Oh sure. The straying governor probably loves a lot of "things" about the Argentina woman. Those kinds of things his wife won't do.

I hope his wife hangs him out to dry....on the backyard clothesline.....by his penis.

Jerk.

Yeah, I'm undecided on governor also. Undecided which candidate will have the best chance to defeat Rick Perry. Once I figure that out, I will no longer be undecided.

In soccer terms, the US beating Espana is on a par with the US beating the Soviets at hockey in the 1980 Olympics. Huge upset of a perennial powerhouse by the underdog

Ten nominees for best picture is absurd. Increasing it to seven or eight would have been sensible. Hollywood doesn't put out ten excellent movies in any given year; most of it is garbage. The only way they can justify that is to give more attention to the indies

Today's random pic looks like a mash-up of losers from Rock of Love (Greyhound) Bus, and that other dating show with the bi-sexual gal with the hispanic name but she was really Vietnamese. I've forgetten her name, and I'm hoping that's what happens to the rest of those lame "reality" shows. I need that room in my brain to store important trivia for Jeopardy!

But...yeah, I would

The soccer thing is big because Spain is ranked number 1 in the world and has been playing up to that ranking the past few years, and the US is a reasonably strong team, but one without a rich tradition and that is generally thought to get what small success it does due to poor competition. Also, this game was the semifinals of a tournament that, while not the World Cup, IS officially sanctioned by FIFA and therefore the teams brought out most if not all of their best available players.

Picture the Boise-Oklahoma BCS Bowl Game.

Rick Perry is a jerk!!! I will vote for anyone before I will vote for him,

We have finally found someone labeled "Republican" who is almost as depraved as Bill Clinton. Poor choices must cut across party lines. The governor will probably get what he deserves and the media will see to it. Pity Clinton did not get what he deserved.

That one on the left looks like she's just joined the Witness Relocation Program. And she's built like a surfboard.

Is the middle right one Kim Kardashian?

Can't condone Bro Sanford, but as a Texan I can't berate SC for its low standards for governor!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Does the governor love his Argentina mistress or is it lust and the thrill of cheating and hiding it until he gets caught? He really, really screwed up when he named his mistress first of those he had hurt. His wife and kids were third. This makes him a big time jerk with NO political future. His wife deserved better for staying with him and helping him campaign over the years while giving birth to four children. She should take him to the cleaners and send him to live in Argentina forever with his mistress with the perky boobs since he likes them so much to write about them in an email!

And to think it was reported he was hiking for four days to clear his head and renew himself! Thanks to the press, he got caught at the airport just like John Edwards got caught in the hotel and hid in the restroom!

Have you seen The Hangover? It's amazing. Best Picture of the year, yes.

mzchief said...

* I read a few of the e-mails at The State and could not help but think, if Sanford had put that much effort into his marriage perhaps he would not be searching for love in cyberspace.

* Sanford should not have to resign as governor just because he screwed up his marriage. Countless CEOs get to keep their jobs after it has been discovered they have been unfaithful to their spouse.

* Excellent Ninja driving skill, BU-Bear.

* If I lived in Louisiana I too would/might attend a baseball game to spend time in Nebraska in late June.

* I am hard pressed to see 5 movies, in three years, that are worthy of "Best Picture" status. Ten is impossible. The Hangover is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a LOOOOOOONG time.

* I will NEVER vote for any politician who willingly voted contrary the express wishes of 90% of the people who contacted their office. Hutchinson and Cornyn can crawl a mile across glass shards begging for votes and I still will NEVER vote for either of the political whores.

Dogman said...

Kay Bailey?.....what the heck has she ever done?

I'd like someone to show me some meaningful legislation that she has sponsored? It better be more than 1.

Her and Cornyn are the most non-descript...(see #2 in Webster's) politicians I've ever seen.

Now she wants to run for Govenor??

For crying out loud.

When you watch the South Carolina governor's apology, note that the very first person he apoologized to was his lover in Argentina.
