Unlike Clinton, Sandford did not commit purgery while under oath providing a deposition in a civil lawsuit. Yes, it was determined that Clinton did indeed commit purgery when he lied, about a germane fact, while providing a sworn deposition for the civil case brought against Clinton by Paula Jones. Clinton lost his law license, fined $25,000 and forever disbarred from appearing before the SCOTUS.
I do find it remarkable that Republicans tend to be more inclined to commit errors of conscience and Democrats commit math errors on their tax forms. One is considered a personal matter and the other is a CRIME.
Where are all of the good people screaming about the injustice of having to tell their children about extra-marital affairs. Remember when Clinton got a slob job in office and - yes I know he lied about it - people complained that they had to go and tell their children what a blow job was because they always heard about it on the tv. (My tv has a turn off button on the tv and the remote, I guess a lot of peoples don't) Are these parents telling their children about extra-marital affairs and gay sex (remember Larry Craig)?
If only he were a liberal weenie he could now run for President.
If Clinton had "acted" the same way, maybe Sean would have treated him the same way. But no, he had to lie, have his staff lie, even his own wife called it a vast right wing conspiracy.

I imagine you'll see Sanford resigning as governor shortly, as he should. (There was a lot more than an extramarital affair going on there.) At least this time the brouhaha is for his actually having sex, rather than just writing naughty e-mails or tapping a toe in a public restroom. (However, there's not an election coming up, so the media may let it go. Republican scandals always get more coverage in even-numbered years.)

I remember Elliot Spitzer and even John Edwards, but the problem I have with this guy is he is governor of a state and left for four days with out telling anyone (his wife, his kids, his Lieutenant governor, his staff, etc.) where he was going. If he ran for President and won, would we as American people have to be on watch for him to up and leave and not tell anyone.
In reality the ones that I feel sorry for are his wife and sons.

I'm sure she was meaning - he leaves, realizes how much he misses us and decides he needs to break it off with Ms. Argentina and come back home. I don't think she was saying his extra-marital affair was what made their marriage stronger.
I do like that his wife is not playing politics at this point. I've always hated how the man stands there admitting what he has done to the press with his wife standing next to him. I just think it's such a private thing, and having her stand there next to him with the media capturing her hurt for all the world to see is just awful. I don't think an affair disquailfies someone for the presidency, but I think leaving the office they were elected too, and not notifying anyone of their whereabouts should make people think long and hard if they want to elect a person like that. Now exactly how many years are we talking about the person you are referring to did drugs? Associating with terrorist? Would you like to explain? Embracing socialism? You do realize that Medicare is "socialism", and so what if this person smokes cigarettes. I bet this person might even have a beer once in a while. Oh the shame!!!!
