Decaturs' quarterback needs to be jacked by one of the coaches or a teammate. The way he rants and raves up and down the sideline is idiotic and the coaches just let him. If you throw an interception, blow it off and look forward to the next possesion. Quit throwing your little girly fits on the sidelines. We're all sick of it.

Trifecta may be in the works ! 1- the great Paul Newman; 2- Sen. Kennedy sipping from Death's martini glass (bet he chickens out again); 3- I vote you Barry , your probably a good mix of the above. You big acting lib weenie! LandShark

This keeps up,Decatur might want to call in sick for the battle of Big sandy.

Anonymous said...

Maybe DHS should be less concerned with looking cool with the gay ass face paint and tricked out uniforms and more concerned about fundamentals.

Put them in white pants, blue shirts, white helmets with a blue "D" on them and see where it goes from there.

If they lose, the coaches should make them wear their dirty uniforms to the next game. Focus on football, not on "coolness."

The Battle of Big Sandy is going to be renamed the Bloodbath of Big Sandy.

Decatur Vs. B-port
Last 6 years:

2007 Decatur 48-44
2006 Decatur 56-20
2005 Decatur 66-34
2004 Decatur 64-28
2003 Decatur 35-14
2002 Decatur 38-27

Out-scored 307 to 167

Ouch...

Played em in '82 @ Bridgeport. Beating them by 50 points, called a time-out and went for 2 point conversion ILO kicking it.....12 seconds left in the game. Then we on-side kicked.
I thought Coach Atkinson was going to kill us when we got back on the bus..

Decatur quarterback does have serious attitude issues

Anonymous said...

I was embarrassed to be sitting on the Decatur sideline last night rooting for DHS with how the QB was acting. The coaches absolutely should not tolerate this. If they continue to do so, I hope that they do not win another game. Sports are more than winning - teach basic fundamentals of life and this includes appropriate behavior. My neighbor's kid is on the team and says all of the other players are sick of the double standard that is being established this year. If Coach Story does not get a handle on this, it will ruin the season for a lot of other, well-behaved kids that want to win and do the right thing. It this doesn't get better...Go Bulls!

I hate fair weather fans.

Quick to brag,
Quick to gripe.

Always problems with no solutions.

Anonymous said...

10:24:

Kind of like Democrats!

Couldn't resist.

Anonymous said...

Never been a fair weather fan with Story at the helm. I said years ago that he needed to be gone. Longer he stays, more and more agree. Problem is, fans are "fans" as long as the kids win, but when the winning stops and folks can begin to SEE what goes on behind the scenes THEN we realize, "hey...what' up with the coaches who allow this behavior?" The lack of discipline has ALWAYS been there with this man. Began when he turned his head his first year there while hazing went on in his field house. It's not time for "new blood" in the coaching staff......it's WAY PAST TIME for new blood in the coaching staff!

Thank you RM at 1:42pm. *yawn*

Bridgeport game was ridiculously good. Pretty cool game to win... kinda got the feeling of one of "those" seasons.

LOL at Decatur fan comments... though probably agree with the comments about not worrying about coolness and ranting raving.

Anyone who remembers, or bothers to research, a high school football score from 6 years ago needs a life.

Anonymous said...

the decatur QB has got to go. he is a disease among this team. when he screws up, he runs on off the field cussing, blaming teammates loud eenough that we can here it 7 rows up word for word, and throwing around F-bombs with all the little kids along the fence watching their friday night heroes. i was sickened by his antics and vocabulary. when he makes a touchdown he acts as if he were T.O and the greatest thing to ever happen to sports. I was embarrassed to be an eagle fan, and the coaching staff should be tarred and feathered for letting this happen....not only friday night, every every friday night.

Anonymous said...

If you want to look at scores then go back to 1993 and start there. That is finally when Bridgeport got a head coach and a football program. Before that I don't think you will find any one in town that wouldn't agree Decatur controlled the "Battle of the Big Sandy"

Anonymous said...

decatur controlled the BOS before 1993 and they have controlled it since story arrived. its onesided and the fun ahs been removed from the rivalry.

i bet the decatur QB can when a cuss-out war with cameron green any day.

beat that!

Jarhead said...

Yeah, what is with all that stupid face paint anyway?

Anonymous said...

At Decatur, as long as they are winning, EVERYONE turns their head.
Administrators and School Board, too.

Anonymous said...

I think the defamation comments on here about teenagers needs to stop. I agree they don't always make the right decisions on their behavior but they ARE just teenagers. Say what you want about coaches, teachers, etc. but calling a teenager a "disease on the team" is uncalled for.

10:24 what are you talking about? What does the school board turn their head on when the team is winning? I'm sure they have better things to think about than what is happening with our football record. It's not even a school board issue. If you don't know what you are talking about then don't even leave a stupid comment like these that have been left on here.

Anonymous said...

11:29, spoken like the true mama of a quarterback.

must be from decatur.

none of these comments are stupid, only the actions of varsity football players that are allowed to cuss at the top of their lungs in front of kids as young as 5 years old. that, my friend, is a bigger problem than anything you mention.

Anonymous said...

Anyone want to bet that Alvoid has one more week and thene the wheels fall? I'll bet a dime to a dollar!

Anonymous said...

It is not who wins or loses but who has the best band -- GO BRIDGEPORT -- MMM ROCKS!

Anonymous said...

I am from Decatur, but not the "mama of the quarterback" nor mama of anyone else on the team. I agree that the players should not be allowed to cuss on the sidelines and I also agree that this is the coaches responsibility to control this, but I just don't agree with everyone bashing certain players on a public forum.

Anonymous said...

1:01, that would not surprise me one bet. they havent played any team that has any chance of making the playoffs. coach chaney watered down his schedule so he would look great after running curtis enis off.

M-M said...

11:29 which is also 2:21: What is so sacred about these teenagers that they can't be criticized in a public forum. This kid acts like a spoiled brat on the field when things don't go his way and I as a fan (and I know many others) am tired of it. A lot of his teammates hate how he gets away with all kinds of crap, even yelling at Coach Story. I'm trying to understand your logic that makes him off limits to criticism.

Anonymous said...

if this kid was doing things in private, that is one thing, but he is acting like a ticking time bomb in public and in front of kids and adults. i cant care what people think when he does this every day and every game.
i can't wait to see what flies when bridgeport pounces on him. get a straight jacket ready.

oh yeah, i live in decatur and i played in decatur 4 years ago, so im not a homer by any means, but this is embarrassing - both the actions of the players involved and the coaches that do nothing about it when they hear it, see it and when they get yelled at as well.

wow

Anonymous said...

I guess where I'm getting at is I agree with everything everyone is saying, but Decatur is just a beat up team right now and they need our support in good and bad times. They don't need people to drag them down further with comments. (I don't even know if they read this)And as far as the quarterback being off limits of criticism, I think there are other ways to get the message across about his behavior other than calling him an "idiot" and "disease", etc. We're the adults here.

Anonymous said...

and there are other ways that the QB can get his message across. when you choose to play the role he has and to play in the spotlight, he has to take what comes with the territory. if he was breaking all kinds of records he would love the press and eat it up. no one is making stuff up and he is doing this in front of 2,000 people every night, so he must not care what people or his teammates think.
like the poster earlier said, no one is aying anything that everyone doesnt see. if there were something in his home life or out of the public view, that's one thing, but he throws his fits and blames his teammates and coaches for everything he does wrong in front of the whole community.

Anonymous said...

QB problem is a coaches problem, and will probably be fixed after this blog. Story just a little slow but give him a break, his mind is somplace else.

Frustration often causes people to misplace their anger. I've seen cheerleader blamed for not cheering enough. Grounds keepers for not keeping everyhting up, booster clubs for "not doing enough" and on it goes.

It is a game!!!!!!!!!! Let's all put it in perspective.

Anonymous said...

No doubt about it. Over the past several years, Decatur DOES have the better band.

Anonymous said...

6:14, did you say "forgive Story, his mind is someplace else?" What? That man is getting paid megabucks to COACH! Discipline is HIS JOB! If he fails to discipline his players and allows them(him) to run rampant then Story FAILS in his job. His mind is some place ELSE? WHAT????? Who are you to make such flimsy excuses? ANY coach on those sidelines or up in the press box should NIX that quarterback's childish antics! Who's in charge of DHS football? The coaches or the quarterback?? In fact, where are the parents of this quarterback? Are they not emabarrassed? Sit his posterior end down and let the backup play. That will instill plenty of discipline in an instant. Good grief! Does it take comments on a blog to make the coaches do their job? Unbelievable!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Hey 9:58,
I don't know if the Bridgeport QB can "when" a cussing contest but I'd bet he could "win" a spelling contest against you.

Decatur moron!

Anonymous said...

i can't believe it will take this blog for coaches to do their job. why in the world would coach story's mind be anywhere but football? he coaches one sport, prepares for that one sports all year round and gers 80K to do it? come on now. if he is leaving after this season and that's why his mind is not here, then he needs to go ahead go and not let the program fall apart at the seems in the process. otherwise, his, and all 12 assistants on that sideline should have a muzzle on any kid that acts so immature.
shame on his parents who i have seen watch his son act that way, and yet it happens every week.

what a team player - not!

Tyler Tamplen said...

Okay as a student of DHS I know that our quarterback may not be perfect but we do not need to be saying all this about a seventeen year old kid. Barry I am VERY DISSAPOINTED in you for letting these comments come through. I thought our community had higher morals than this, it's ridiculous. Anonymous, do none of you have the guts to put your name on it? Come on he is seventeen and tearing him to shreads on a public forum is not the thing to do. Come on Decatur where is our spirit?

Anonymous said...

Mr. Tamplen, I applaud your devotion to your school and the spirit of DHS. However, because of that devotion you should be one of the first ones to "speak" to this quarterback about the kind of message his antics send about DHS and its coaches, and more importantly, the boy's own parents. When an athlete puts on the blue and the white, they take on the responsibility of representing the above mentioned. This young MAN is NOT a child!! He is a young adult and is quite cabable of understanding acceptable behavior and unacceptable behavior. There are consequences for unacceptable behavior and the quicker he learns that, the better. I agree with the above poster who said to sit him down and allow the backup to play. If the antics continue and he is not disciplined, well then the school authorities should be blamed. His parents may put up with this kind of behavior at home, but in uniform.... school personnel have every responsibility to FIX HIS ATTITUDE and stop the embarrassment he is causing. And...if this is establishing a double standard on this team, and it seems to be, well it is quite evident why this year's team is in the losing bracket. A team is only as good as its leader(s). Case closed.

Tyler Tamplen said...

True and he does need to be talked to, but as a town I do not feel that we should trash him on a public forum.

Anonymous said...

If he does not want public scrutiny, (written here or otherwise) then he should not behave this way in front of the public. Welcome to the real world. One will be celebrated or scrutinized in this world by the way one shows him/herself in public. If one does not wish to be called a liar, then one should not lie. If one does not wish to be called a cheater, then one should not cheat. If one does not want to be called a spoiled rotten brat, then one should BEHAVE respectfully. Otherwise, be ready for PUBLIC scrutiny anyplace, anytime.

Anonymous said...

It's my understanding that the quarterback situation and several other situations have been taken care of this week. Coach Story has always been a believer in discipline and how his team acts in public. I don't think he realized just how badly this young man was acting on the sidelines. Now he realizes and has taken care of the situation.

Tyler Tamplen said...

Now that is how you handle a true situation right there! Cudos to Coach Story!

Anonymous said...

Better late than never! Guess this blog did some good, huh?

Anonymous said...

I know the QB at a personal level, this is in fact, "his personality". And things will be taken care of. The coaches are looking into it.
So for the time being, everyone needs to chill and not worry about something so immature as this situation.
This forum is a irresponsible way to show your support with the team. Anyone who speaks negativly of the QB should be ashamed of themself, because more than likely, you don't know him as much as you think you do.
So now, i'm telling who "dogs" on him to grow up and get your head out of your a** and grow some balls.
It's proven your not doing your part.

Anonymous said...

4:32, you are obviously a student yourself. "grow some balls?" hmmmm... how clever an argument. I must say, for the weeks to have passed by without Story "realizing" these temper tantrums were going on is beyond the pail. It is evident that the comments on this blog brought the disgust about the QB's childish antics to the forefront. Possibly because one of the coaches reads the blog and brought it to Story's attention. Who knows?
Your friend may be using the excuse that this is "his personality" or perhaps it is you who just uses that excuse. Again, welcome to the world! Personalities who think acting childish is what leaders should do in order to gain ....what....sympathy?.... is unacceptable. If this young MAN wishes to be a leader, then he must begin to show positive leadership. NO ONE appreciates tantrums nor do they respect the tantrum thrower! If this is his personality and he cannot get past this, then again, sit his posterior end down and allow the backup to play. I, for one, believe a good coach can/will shape a childish attitude with the correct approach. I've seen that done hundreds of times. I guess I'm waiting to see it done once again, and next Friday night's game will be the test. hmmm?

Number 9 from Decatur can ready go get him 1the ball

Anonymous said...

i just wanted to share my thoughts about my most respected player number nine.he is one of the only players that keeps me a diehard fan of the eagles.he always aproaches everything with the greatest atitude .he honestly keeps me ok my feet even when the distracting excuse for a qb rambles on cursing at his fellow team mates.anyway when i think of team player number nine defines the phrase

Anonymous said...

I love it how 4:32 disagrees with everything positive someone has to say about him.
As a fact, I am an adult.
You think you know so much, tell me, what else do you think you know?
Maybe i was the one to be brave enough to tell you that you do need to, in fact, "grow some balls".
And no, I don't use the excuse that that is his personality.
I don't blame you for being an asshole.
Go ahead and call me immature.
I don't care enough to have a "tiff" with you, because you really don't know him at all.
Good day, Genius.

p.s. you proved yourself greatly.

Anonymous said...

To 4:32

Looks like your the one throwing a tantrum.
You have no respect for other people.

Hey, 4:40, you just blasted yourself in your post. Ha...you aimed that entire last post to 4:32..... and that is YOU!! hahaa! You lost this one, bro.. showed your real STUPID side here. Oh, wait.. I guess you have more than just a stupid 'side.' DUH!!!
And if you ARE an adult, you need to learn how to speak/write without embarrassing yourself. This post is over, whiner!

How did they blast themself?

Why would you gripe at someone for the way they spell.
