Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

- I bet being a Storm Chaser is a boring job 99% of the time
- I don't remember this reporter at Channel 8 from years gone by but hubba hubba. (Scan to bottom - and thanks emailer.)
-Remember that Fort Worth church that had the controversy about whether to allow gays to have their pictures submitted as a couple for it's Directory? Well, first the pastor got kicked out and now the Southern Baptist Convention is considering booting the church from its membership.
- Three of the top five "Most Powerful Celebrities" as ranked by Forbes are African American: Oprah, Tiger, and Beyonce. Maybe the key to success is to have a tricked up first name.
- I finally began watering my lawn yesterday. Probably should have got on that a little quicker.
- Funny random pic of Florida Gator fans.
- Every time I see one of those pack of Skater Boys in Decatur, I expect to see a busted skull any second.
- The nut host on KLIF this morning was advocating the death penalty for those guilty of Intoxication Manslaughter. "Does intent really matter?" he asked. Sheesh. And his listening audience, based upon the callers, have to have the lowest IQ of any talk show. (Wait. Exclude me from that last statement.)
- I really haven't followed the R. Kelly trial which is apparently headed towards the jury. I think I tuned out after those crazy "in the closet" songs.
- I think I'm getting a pimple. That's not supposed to happen anymore.
- Sean Hannity blamed the high gas prices on the Democrat controlled Congress yesterday. My head almost blew up.
- People are crazy. I mean really crazy.
- Super Target is 20 times better that Super Walmart.
- In the Grand Scheme of Things, the accidental death of four Boy Scouts is simply wrong. (And I think there was an electrocution death(s) a couple of years ago at a similar Boy Scout gathering.)
- Seems like we'd be seeing more high-definition DVDs by now.
- The Wise County Jail is back in the business of housing out-of-county inmates. As of yesterday, we were holding 61 "visiting" inmates at a charge of $34 a day.
- Pat Tillman book update: That lady seems to think that all the questions should be easily answered about the cluster that caused the death of her son. As with all clusters, ain't gonna happen. Yesterday I read where she was angry that an army investigator suggested she'd never be satisfied because she's was an atheist and, thus, could not be at peace with death. That royally pissed her off, but that might have been an accurate assessment.
- Extra Tillman tidbit: Jon Krakauer, who authored Into Thin Air and Into The Wild, approached Ms. Tillman about writing a book about the incident. I guess that didn't pan out but it would have been great.
- Still haven't been to the new Best Buy in north Fort Worth. But I noticed there was a Cheddar's right by it. (And a Hobby Lobby but I've never been in a Hobby Lobby.)
- One of my favorite Bill Murray movie scenes.
- Edit: Forgot to mention that I had a few home grown tomatoes delivered to me yesterday. (Thanks, Beck.) Finally, I've turned this blog into a profit machine.

A Krakauer book on the Tilman tragedy would be more than awesome. Mark Bowden(Blackhawk Down) would be my first choice though, for getting inside the heads of those involved.
The Boy Scout tragedy? Everybody there trying to do something fun,and learn to be better people at the same time and then this happens-sad. It makes me want to cry. Something so good and positive will be taken from the survivors even.

Clean the zitational area well with alcohol or witch hazel then apply antibiotic ointment and cover with a bandaid. Don't know why this helps but,it does. Works especially well if done at night and allowed to stay until the next morning.

UH - that Cheddar's has been open since late last year. For the women bloggers, Ulta will be coming in there soon. Not sure when Belk's is opening - some retailers have put the brakes on expansion with the current economic downturn. Sam Moon has also delayed their plans to open a store at that location.

Still looking for home grown tomatoes? Tried planting your own?

I think the audience with the lowest IQ is the audience of this blog, with Barry leading the pack. (With the exception of me, of course) What party denied drilling in ANWR 10 years ago? What party denied us to drill off Florida and California? Hell the Chinese and Cuba are now 50 miles off Key West ready to plunder our oil. What party denied us the ability to go after shale oil? What party put the hiatus on nuclear?

Another great Bill Murray scene in "What About Bob?"...Mom comes in and tells Murray and son that she needs peace and quiet.
Murray: "I'll be peace."
Son: "I'll be quiet."
Priceless. Oh, and BG, it's apparent you're, uh, past the "breakout phase" because you referred to your blemish as a pimple, not a zit. "Pimple" sounds like the name of a character in a British storybook or something:)

the world saw in 2006 that the dem had the strings on our oil, though the environmental b.s. and saw a great chance to criple our economy. remember it was the dems in the 90's saying gas should be 5 bucks a gallon to promote conservation. they have been working at it ever since. now they will have it and blame bush for that also.
so socialism rules because its easyer and feels better until ..... your kids get hungry.

I was watching the local Channel 8 news at 7:29 a.m. and they had a story of a 19 yr. old drunk drive that hit and killed a man. Shelly Slater in all her glory said he was charged with "drinking while intoxicated" instead of "driving while intoxicated! She never missed a beat.

Please stop blaming dems for all our problems...dems & repubs both work for the same special interest..BIG MONEY....KBRHalliburtonBIGDICKCheny(formerly known as LBJ&Co).this shit started in 1963.....follow the money!!!!!!!!!!!

Barry - I see that there are more scantily dressed women on the blog this morning. What ever happened to equality? All you have posted for the ladies is the pic of speedo man! That is just wrong.

Pertaining to the SBC booting out Broadway Baptist and the gay couples issue - bet it won't happen - considering the Cliburn family's huge influence in that church - the magnificent pipe organ - one of the most prestigious in the United States, that was given in memory of Cliburn's mother.

The SBC can kick the church out, but it won't keep gay members from attending - even among some of it's most notable members.

I'm with Art Vanderlay at 8:38 am. I would be more specific and lay the blame at the feet of that domestic terrorist group, the EPA. They are the ones that say "Jump!" and the demo's say "How High?"
They have stopped the use of nuclear power and the domestic drilling and production of our own oil reserves. We aren't drilling in Alaska because of fear of disrupting the Caribou, but there is already a Canadian drill site of there around which the Caribou are flourishing. I have read in several places about the Chinese drilling for oil with the aid and permission of Cuba, and they are drilling closer to American shores than the EPA allows domestic oil companies to drill off shore. About 86% of our offshore oil capabilities are not being tapped or used. The demo's have pushed this situation for the purpose of controlling how much we drive and how things are produced in this country. Perhaps or perhaps not, they have finally come to a "What have we created" moment. I definitely blame the demo's and the eco-terrorists.

CRAZY Tech fan!
What do you bet that moron has NEVER even enrolled in a single class at Texas Tech.

The fact he did not scream, flinch or faint makes me wonder EXACTLY what type of drugs he was doing other than cheap beer. Exactly, how does a person keep a flesh burning branding iron hot in their bathroom CLOSET?

From what I've read Tillman was on a ridgeline above the machinegunner who was shooting from a Humvee. After initially taking cover Tillman stood up and started waving his arms shouting,"Hey it's Pat f-in Tillman, stop shooting at us,ceasefire" He then got hit in the face by gunfire accurate enough 3 bullets actually struck him.
Note to self: If ever under any kind of fire don't stand up and say I'm f-in anybody while waving my arms around.

Roy: I think you can.
