I've read this all week about Oakmont, where the U.S. Open is being played this week: 4,000 trees have been removed from the course since 1994 in order to return it to a "links-style feel."
That seems wrong.

The tree removal seems wrong to me, too. But the course originally had few trees when built in 1903 so they wanted to return it to more like the original design. Watching the world's best hack the place up, I think a normal "very good" golfer would be luck to shoot 110.
There is an anti-wind farm group up in Montague County that uses one of the points against building a wind farm that the turbines blight the landscape. Their example is your view from a golf course won't be what it used to. Well, some people consider a golf course a blight in itself.
IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT IT IS PRIVATE PROPERTY YOU DUMB ASS! IT IS THE REMOVING OF TREES....PERIOD. IT IS LIKE BUILDING OF A STRIP MALL IN TEXAS....LET'S START BY TEARING DOWN ALL THE TREES!
I'M NOT A TREE HUGGER BUT I DO LIKE THE LOOK OF TREES AND THIER PLACE ON THE LANDSCAPE.

Ah, yes. Call someone a dumbass to converse.
Why don't we all just be a bunch of pussies?
If you like to look at trees, buy a painting...
