Did anyone hear Andy Rooney's evaluation of our modern Army? He lamented the huge drop in standards due to recruiting problems. They now take the uneducated and frequently the criminal elements and put them in uniform with the idealistic kids. Andy suggests these are not the best ambassadors this country could put into foreign countries to win over their populous. He suggests a true draft like in WWII would create a better force. You know, I think he's unfortunately correct. But I'll bet he (and I) will be condemned for stating the obvious.

Your cartoon was not, as you say, "frighteningly true." What is frightening is the lack of understanding on the part of American Socialists about how to make war.

I can't stand that hateful little hobbit of a man who gets away with and actually gets paid for saying ugly things about people.

Funny, and appropriate for a political cartoon, but hardly “true.” It’s obviously exaggerated:

* Liberals are never alone. They always travel in packs, like hyenas.
* The Conservative is able to get a word in edgewise. A real Liberal would never allow that.
* The penguin/Liberal didn’t start throwing things. When a Liberal can’t shout down the opposition, he always resorts to physical violence.

The funniest part to me is how you said it was “true” with a straight font. You guys crack me up.

Anon 7:45: who, Rush Limbaugh?

Those Tom Tomorrow strips are great -- best illustration I've seen of the pretzels of illogic into which the neocons and their true-believer flock twist themselves.

Wordpyle, please enlighten me......give me 5 reasons why I should not believe that Bush is an idiot.

11:17 AM: "Matthew 7:6" (Go ahead and Google it, I know you don't know it.)

10:40...It was my understanding that back in the day, whether in time of war or not, troubled young men were often whisked into the military as an only other option to jail time. These folks were just as uneducated and criminal as the people they are letting in now, but maybe dear ol' Andy has forgotten that. With the current conflict that we are in I agree with you and Andy 100%, but I am not sure where he is coming from in thinking this is something new for the military.

does this mean that democrats are really closet penguins?

Anonymous said...

Yes. And it also means that Republicans are closet "toons".

Please do not call the shrub an idiot - it is an inslut to all the nice idiots in the world.

Matthew 7:6
"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces."

Debate's over, people -- though not itself germane to the argument, serving only to demonstrate superior knowledge of Scripture and needless snarkiness, a Bible quote has been referenced, and everybody knows that's the end of the story.

aw, gleemonex....come on. Did you really miss my point? Or are you being purposely dense?

I'd hate to believe subtlety was wasted on you.

11:17AM here.....yep, glee......typical wordpyle neocon hypocrisy.....and he has yet to give me any reasons why I should not believe that Bush is an idiot. Oh, I forgot. He can't!

11:17 aka 11:30: You don't understand subtlety. You don't know what the words "idiot," "neocon," or "hypocrisy" mean. Changing your beliefs would take a lobotomy.

However, in the interest of showing you up, how's this:

George Bush:

1) Holds a Bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University.
2) He had a higher GPA than John Kerry, who also went to Yale.
3) Bush scored higher on intelligence tests in the military than John Kerry
4) Holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where
5) He had a higher GPA than Al Gore, who also went to Harvard.
6) Was twice elected Governor of Texas.
7) Was twice elected President of the United States.

And what have you accomplished?
