Rosie Has A Point - A Good Point

I didn't see it, but last night this went down on American Idol:

Simon said to the man, “You look a little odd. The dancing is terrible. The singing was horrendous and you look like one of those creatures that live in the jungle with those massive eyes. What do they call them? Bush babies.”

Paula calls Simon “sick” and tells the man that he was good and blah blah blah, but as soon as he leaves she starts laughing at him along with Simon and Randy.

And Rosie fires off this on The View this morning: “Isn’t that what America thinks is entertainment? To make fun of someone’s physical appearance and then when they leave the room laugh hysterically at them? Three millionaires, one probably intoxicated….”

He was probably a paid performer.

Barry (Berry?), Rosie is much more of a man than you are.

This "reality" show is as real as Jerry Springer (with a similarly unintelligent audience). Eventually they have some good performers. But these teaser shows have much worse talent than Frilley's on amateur nite.

GEEEEZZZZZZZE!
Rosie is in NO position to criticize ANYONE for making fun of the appearance of another person. Just of RECENT the obnoxious, millionaire, professional lesbian has made fun of Donald Trump's comb-over.

The ONLY excuse there is for Rosie having FANS is because there are SOOOOO many bitter, trashy people in the States.

Right on mzchief! What a joke Rosie has become.

What a joke "Idol" has become. Shows the pathetically low intelligence level of the audience.

I love to watch Rosie in the mornings while I sit on my rented couch, smoking my Capri cigerattes and watching my big screen television in my double wide that I am two months behind on because my husband beats me and spends all our money on alcohol and meth! I am so proud of my husband for quitting smoking though, he finally took a stand when they raised the price $1 a pack. Says he is saving that money for his new tattoo; he is such a money saver when he sets his mind to it! I think when he gets home from work today we are going to have a threesome, it is just him and I but I have gained a few pounds so he calls it a threesome!

I have no sympathy for anyone that gets made fun of. This show has been on for a few years. The no talent, goofy knuckleheads who go on that show PUT THEMSELVES IN THAT POSITION KNOWINGLY AND WILLINGLY. They know the judges poke fun. Don't by a house near an airport and complain the planes are too loud.

Yes, it is what America thinks is entertainment, or we wouldn't be watching all these dumb reality shows. It's a sad commentary on our society. You can see it in the rabble of contestants..the hopelessness, the lack of a good support structure (in other words, someone that tells you "no, honey, actually you CAN'T sing so how about going to college"), and the sense of entitlement, nome sane, that you see exhibited by so many that audition.

Simon WAS kind of harsh on this guy....what Simon was comparing him to is a lemur.

12:10, I couldn't have said it better, this is the 6th season...if you don't want to risk being laughed at or ridiculed by Simon, DON'T TRY OUT. Personally, I think some of them know how bad they are and just do it to try and get on television and become the next William Hung. And mzchief, you are dead on too, Rosie O'Donnell has no room to talk.

1:14, who said lemur? What Simon said was bushbaby, and those have huge bulging eyes. So do lemurs, but then again so do camels. A lemur is from a completely different branch of the primate family than a galago("bushbaby"). Simon said bushbaby, blogger referenced bushbaby, but somehow you've determined Simon meant to say "lemur".

I agree with the posts that say that if you don't want to get made fun of, don't show up and tryout if you don't have any talent. However, I agree with 12:14 PM that it is sad that our country looks upon this (and so many of the other "reality" shows) as entertainment. Pretty sad commentary on our times.

And by the way--regardless of the lack of talent of some of these people--what about the absolutely AWFUL way some of them were dressed and made up? TLC's What Not To Wear show hosts would flip out!!

Did anyone see that white headed blonde girl, gold blouse, and I mean bloussse and the hang low breasts? Momma was with her. I never laughed so hard in my life.

Here's a pic of Anonymous 1:14, BEFORE the Prozac kicked in.

Hey. If it looks like a lemur and it walks like a lemur and it sings like a lemur, then it's a lemur.

Sheesh.

Who said lemur? We're now reading minds and imagining words. What's next? Will I go into a Decatur fast food restaurant, order a cheeseburger, and have 1:14 say to me, "excuse me, you said cheeseburger, but I think you really want a chicken sandwich"?

What Rosie seems to be forgetting is the overwhelming sense of entitlement or arrogance that so many of these people have for thinking they've got either some right to be famous or are simply more naturally talented than the rest of us scrubs.

Take that schmuck from the first night--He left crying because he was "16 years old and wanted to start out famous."

There's no harm bringing people like that down to earth.

looks like the loser brigade is still in tact...give it up BITCHES

The guy probably thought he was on the old Gong show, which is where big Rosie should be and many of us would line up to use the gong stick. I do not even think that would shut up that great waste of oxygen.

mzchief -
Theere is a big difference between Rosie commenting about Trump & Simon about the singer.

Trump can change his hair.
The singer can not change his looks.

Rosie was right on target.
p.s. I disagree with her 98% of the time. However, her assessment of Trump, Miss. America, and Simon are right on target.
