Rhome had its traffic/speeding cam out this morning - in a new place - under a bridge on the north side of town. Oddly, the mysterious white van that always seems to accompany it was no where to be seen.
Wonder what would happen if a vehicle w/ covered license plate were to "accidentally" run over one of the cameras? Haven't seen were they are set, but in Denton,it has happened more than once. Imagine what a rock hauler could do to one of those lens.
The equipment was under the bridge, the van was on the overpass, on the acess road above the camera. It is still pretty chickenshit though. if certain rhome police sergeants, and officers would get on the streets and actually stop traffic (especially 18 wheelers), that camera would not be needed.
They string the cord from the camera over State property from the access road above, to down below the bridge...hence you never see the van from below on 287 because its up top on the service road. Its got the whole county talking about what a bad rep Rhome is getting now. Many commuters avoid Rhome now and fill up with gas elsewhere. The local convenience store even has the "spin" on the camera posted on the store window. If you dont want your picture taken , check out the photoblocker.com website and wear a ski mask when going thru Rhome.
I understand that next they are going to get little short fat trolls to get each car to pay 50 cents to cross over 287. OH wait, they are have a fat little female troll working for them. nevermind
6:37 p/m..the camera is "wireless", no cords to string. It has a range of about 900 ft that the tripod can be from the van, which is Black with a white top, BUT.......the city attorney wanted an officer in the van to be able to witness the violation. This brings up a good question, yesterday when I drove by the van parked west of rhome on 114, the Nester employee was standing outside the van with the rear doors open. No other person was in the van? So where was the rhome cop who is supposed to "witness" the traffic violation as required by state law? Nester is paying $15 hr for an officer to sit in the van to "witness" these photo tickets, if I got a ticket in the mail I would want to see the time sheets for that day to ensure that there realy was an officer present.
Here's an idea for all of you. Let's just eliminate laws altogether. Heck, drive 150 if you're dumb enough. Kill a family while you're at it. Or maybe someone will just kill yours. Want to make Rhome's speed cameras a non issue? Drive at a safe speed and you'll be amazed...your picture won't be taken.
1:06 a/m....how about we let the highway patrol do what the highway patrol does? patrol the highway and enforce traffic laws. i do not belive anyone has a problem with law enforcement, i belive most commuters have a problem with being fleeced as they drive to and from work. what rhome is doing does not have a thing to do with traffic safety, it is all about money. recently they issued a press release saying that the camera had issued 90 warnings in a single day. how many accidents did they have that day, or that week? if rhome has four accidents a month (within their city limits) i would be surprised. it is not about "scraping bodies off the highway" or "driving a safe speed" as they would like for you to think, it's about money!
I WAS LISTNING TO THE SCANNER AND THE COUNTY CALLED RHOMES COP #309 TO TELL HIM THERE WAS A GUY THAT GOT A GUN PULLED ON HIM AT THE GRANDYS AND WAS NOW CHASING THE OTHER TRUCK DOWN 114. RHOMES COP SAID HE WAS HEADING THAT WAY FROM FIVE POINTS. IS FIVE POINTS NOT IN TARRANT COUNTY. OH WELL, THE COP COULD'NT FIND THE GUY AND ALL IS SAFE IN RHOME. MAYBE THEY CAN CHECK THE CAMERA ON MONDAY AND SEE IF IT CAUGHT THE GUY WITH THE GUN.
If you want to make Rhomes camera a "non-issue" just appeal or leapfrog your mail order ticket to the county court, when Nester and the city loose enough revenue they wont think it is such a good idea any longer.
1:06 am, nobody has a anything against speeding, just the invasion of privacy. New York may need a camera but not Rhome for cryin' out loud. Maybe your job will be contracted out next.
Why do they have all those police cars at the police station? They move very little. This thing will probably create alot of revenue. It startled me yesterday morning when I saw it. I am so glad the guy had just started to set it up. It was my first time to see it.
well, the short fat female cop will drive her cop car to newark, and to take her kids to school, and to the DQ, that is quite alot of moving around for her.
Photoblocker.com has license plate covers for sale and spray that beats the camera, but nothing beats putting on my Richard Nixon mask as I haul ass thru Rhome! "I am not a crook!
Rhome changed it's ways for a few years, but it's heading back to it's old ways. If you have been around Wise county for awhile, you will remember that Rhome officers were involved in several questionable stops and illigal searches. Take time to go through the Messenger editorials and letters to the editor from around 1998-2002. You really won't be amazed, but it will shed more light on what is going on in Rhome. Rhome city officials denied any wrong doing at the time, but several officers did lose their jobs. If you know of anything that is going on in the city of Rhome that is questionable, seek legal council or contact the ACLU or NAACP. If there is a truly a a law being broken, they're the ones to call. Remember, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
I saw the city council agenda for the upcoming meeting, two items of interest. (1)It appears that they are about to give the cry baby female cop a pay raise. Who said crime does not pay? and; (2) discuss police department- potential litigation.
to whom that think they know everything, I know the female cop, she's a great person and very fair minded. She treats people as people, not just another traffic stop. She takes the time to listen and to take action when necessary. I believe that she sets the example of what it means to be a police officer.
yea she sets a great example eating doughnuts and resting her arms on her pistola. She really set a great example when her kid got into trouble and was given the dont go to jail pass. all nice people do not make good policemen
hay 1:30 p/m, get a clue! do you think they would have ran her out of the county and out of boyd pd if she was a good cop? she uses her position to get her kids out of trouble then wonders why they act the way they do. she picks on the people she knows she can and turns a blind eye to the others if she thought she would have to take a stand. she is not a cop, just a meter maid with a gun and a DQ cup
Oh boy, a raise and potential litigation concerning the RPD? Get ready for another embarrasing headline in the WCM!!!! This place makes me want to move to Corral City just to get some serenity!

It's actually a black van.
There was a black van at the scene this am and a guy setting all the tripods up.

I wish someone would run over that camera. That is such a chickenshit approach to law enforcement.

dont tell George W that Poland has been invaded by rhome, he'll want to send troops to rhome
If my Nestor stock dosent get above 1.50 a share, I wont be able to afford my ticket!

Rhome has gone to Hell! The Saturday edition of Star Telegram has the scoop.

In addition to the article about the camera in todays F.W. paper, look at www.thenewspaper.com/news/13/1397.asp
Interesting article about why Nestor is making a heated sales pitch in small towns like Rhome.
I put a "McKenzie Kitchens for mayor" bumper sticker over my front plate so it cant be read! LOL
McKenzie Kitchens FOR MAYOR !!!
Kitchens is a communist.
Not compared to those that voted for a camera. She didnt bring an socialist device from Europe to Rhome.

"Rhome" sucks, they can't even spell the name of their town right.
