Hum where are the libreals? That's a lot of money in a horse! I mean that could feed a lot of homeless people right? O I forgot lib's believe in anmials rights! But not human rights. It's ok to kill a human baby in the name of ( It's a mothers right) but you have no right to kill a horse, pig, dog etc... Just babys that have no say in the matter.

Sweetie Pies has horseburgers on its menu this week. I think they were involved with the broken leg.

Poor Barbaro...he was a beautiful horse.

And 12:48, good point.

I think most people are sad to hear about Barbaro being put down this morning. Considering the injury he had, he hung in there for a good while, over eight months, and yes, it did cost quite a bit of money for his owners. Of course, they also stood to make a lot of money had he made it and sired several hundred colts over the next fifteen years or so. I think with Barbaro, with the extent of his injury,he was an underdog and most people root for underdogs.

uhhh....12:48 As far as I can tell....an animal doesn't have a say in the matter either. Don't you think?

Awwe, that's sad. :(

...and I have not even recovered from Barbarosa's death and now Barbaro is gone as well!

I didn't know Barbaro, so I can't comment as to his beauty or otherwise. I'll leave that to those on this blog that actually knew the horse. "He loved to run" they'll say. "He had the heart of a champion" they'll say. My bet he was a horse that would have just preferred to eat grass, poop and make little horses, until a person roped him, put a bunch of crap on him, jumped on his back and whipped him until he had to run....but he "loved" it.

We love our animals. Especially WASPs. They just love animals. For them, it's people you can sort of take or leave. Yup we just love our animals. At least, we love the ones we don't eat, slaughter, trap, boil alive, exterminate, inject with various drugs so they can grow tumors five times their own weight, step on, stick hooks in, feed to other animals, put in a ring and stick with swords, or feed corn for 364 days and then show up with a gun and shoot in the belly on the 365th. But otherwise, we love our animals. Now, the guy with a broken ankle hobbling around and living under a Fort Worth overpass when it's 20 degrees at night...to heck with that guy. If a million wild horses were running north across the Mexican border because they needed to be fed, sheltered and each given medical attention, there would be caravans of thousands of people down there to help and give of their money and time like it was going out of style.

I'll bet there are a whole lot of cc's of Barbaro still around, sitting in the freezer, waiting to make little Barbaro's for the highest bidder.

I'm pretty sure that Pat's Cheesesteaks in Philly has a sandwich named after Barbaro. Not sure the connection but I could swear the last cheesesteak I had there had whip marks.

the jockey club that regulates the breeding of thoroughbred horses does not allow artificially inseminated babies to be registered.
Natural cover only.

4:29 Bend over and we will kick the dog in you! lol.
Unborn babys have no rights, but horses, dogs, cats, pigs etc.. do?
They worship the creature not the creator!

how can ya'll turn a story about a horse into an abortion/religious debate?

Don't you know that everything in this world revolves around religion and politics, 5:19. Throw yourself a few rednecks in and you'll have one big party!

I understand wanting to give Barbaro a chance to recover, and not for racing or even breeding. But, a chance to live. To be able to have a normal life. It is not wrong to try to save him. And I understand that we do try to save our animals more than we try to save a human life. That has made me wonder why that is?

It's because we have taken God out of everything! No morals!
When animals have more value than unborn babies there is something very wrong!

Paul said in Romans they worshiped the creature rather than the creator!
Rom 1:19 But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is!
Rom 1:20 By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can't see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse.
Rom 1:21 What happened was this: People knew God perfectly well, but when they didn't treat him like God, refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in their lives.
Rom 1:22 They pretended to know it all, but were illiterate regarding life.
Rom 1:23 They traded the glory of God who holds the whole world in his hands for cheap figurines you can buy at any roadside stand.
Rom 1:24 So God said, in effect, "If that's what you want, that's what you get." It wasn't long before they were living in a pigpen, smeared with filth, filthy inside and out.
Rom 1:25 And all this because they traded the true God for a fake god, and worshiped the god they made instead of the God who made them--the God we bless, the God who blesses us. Oh, yes!
Rom 1:26 Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn't know how to be human either--women didn't know how to be women, men didn't know how to be men.
Rom 1:27 Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men--all lust, no love. And then they paid for it, oh, how they paid for it--emptied of God and love, godless and loveless wretches.
Rom 1:28 Since they didn't bother to acknowledge God, God quit bothering them and let them run loose.
Rom 1:29 And then all hell broke loose: rampant evil, grabbing and grasping, vicious backstabbing. They made life hell on earth with their envy, wanton killing, bickering, and cheating. Look at them: mean-spirited, venomous,
Rom 1:30 fork-tongued God-bashers. Bullies, swaggerers, insufferable windbags! They keep inventing new ways of wrecking lives. They ditch their parents when they get in the way.
Rom 1:31 Stupid, slimy, cruel, cold-blooded.
Rom 1:32 And it's not as if they don't know better. They know perfectly well they're spitting in God's face. And they don't care--worse, they hand out prizes to those who do the worst things best!

Everyone knows that God exist!

JFC!!!! (hopefully that won't cause this not to be posted.)
Can't you just say OMG a great race horse died instead of turning this into a religious debate? Have you ever taken a look at some of the CPS kids and the lives they have? Unresponsible parents SHOULD be aborted! The staggering number of unwanted children in this county alone is enough to make you cry but yet you get mad at those who realize they have made a mistake and try to make ammends. Heaven forbid YOU ever make a mistake and try to make it right. HOW DARE YOU JUDGE SOMEONE ELSE! Remember the passage in the bible about you that are without sin cast the first stone. That being said, I do NOT particularly care for abortion but I'm a male so it's not really me choice.
What makes me sad about Barbaro is that for once in many many years there was a horse that had what it took to be the next triple crown winner. That's a feat that hasn't been achieved in over 30 years and not an easy task.

7:57 Hope today is a better day for you. It seems that your religious issues have created turmoil in your life.
