You have misunderstood my point and my point was: Why was Barry picking on Strayhorn and saying her campaign money being spent was a big waste while people were starving on the streets.? I don't understand why he singled her out while there are a lot of other things people do that could also be considered wasteful. I was just giving an example of one of those things that could be considered wasteful.

Just a newsflash for all the dumbos out there. The majority of people in poverty do have jobs and work everyday. It is not that they are lazy or that it is an internal problem. It is an external problem, due to low wages and corporate-dominated capitalism.
I pray that people will get educated about poverty.

MOST of the financially and professionally successful people with whom I am associated work at LEAST 50 hours a week. The successful people I know who do not work 50+ hours a week either inherited their wealth or are retired.

As far as health coverage in America.. Doesn't every human being have a right to medical care for just being human? Canada, England, France....they all have univeral health coverage. As a matter of fact, we are the only industrialized nation that does not provide our citizens equal access to medical care.

I grew up in the United Kingdom and France. How does 60% income tax set with you? That is the current income tax rate in England. It costs a trainload of taxpayer funds to pay for nationally provided services.
Just for the record, my monthly health insurance premium is over $1,300. nevertheless, it accounts for a FAR cry less than 60% of my income. If it makes you feel better I GLADLY pay 36% income tax in the United States. People who work hard are fortunate enough to pay 3 or 4 times MORE in taxes than the medium income in the United States.
Have you ever wondered WHY all the elderly people in countries with "SOCIALIZED MEDICINE" are in good health? It has NOTHING to do with the quality of the healthcare provided to them. It has everything to do with the healthcare that was NOT provided to the less healthy people. The sick people DIE prior to receiving the specialized care required for sick people to live to an old age. Wealthy people in countries with Socialized Medicine go outside the country or pay for PRIVATE care out of their pocket for EXCELLENT healthcare.
Oh and since you are SOOOOO bloody impressed with the systems in place in foreign nations might I suggest you pack up your belongings and MOVE. Leave the land of opportunity to those of us who are inclined to take advantage of the FABULOUS opportunities afforded to those of us willing to work our arses off in the United States.
When you move you will NEED to get used to NOT having an auto or using one since the annual taxes on autos in some areas within the U.K can be more than $6,000. in addition, fuel costs more than $7. a gallon due to the INSANE amount of taxes levied on ALL types of fuel.
