Decatur school system is broke and I'm not talking about money. Considering all the computer trinkets its buying Im guessing it isnt. You've got a football coach that has sucked for years. You show propaganda videos that say the education I got sucks so my kid can get an iPad. And give six weeks tests that include lessons the kids havent been taught yet and for some reason cant have reviews. Its one big cluster. The wife and I are even thinking about putting our house up for sale and getting out of here. School has become a total beat down for my kids and we arent slacker parents that dont help our kids. I know some smart butt will respond to go ahead but I know from talking to other parents on my both of my kids baseball teams that there are a lot of parents out there that are just as POed as I am.
I thought they had Decatur School turning around a couple of years ago but the focus was too much on kids and they decided to change it. Ya get what you get when......

"Flipped instruction" (students go online at night to get the information/lecture and do the "homework" at school) is the new shiny toy. Beautiful concept...but students can't ask questions until they get to school, teacher spends time going over the lecture, homework has to be finished at home, along with lecture over the new material. Students in my high school (not in Wise County) are spending 4+ hours at night on math.
The goal is to move us into online classes or podcast situations so that teacher numbers can be reduced.
Geeeeeeeze, 6:42! Do you even realize those two women JUST got on the board? They have nothing to do with the fiasco the school is in now! They were elected to try and help get things straightened back out, but it takes a little bit of time! sheeeeeesh! How many times have you been divorced? Must be many! It's pretty obvious!
Mr. Barry, we'er getting ready for bed and winding down by watching the John Fogerty special.....CCR....and noticed he is wearing a hearing aid...guess we're all getting old!
Mrs Reeves ruined DHS. Many people make way more than her due to the cattle, and welding skills they learned in Ag class. She cut their funding worse than the Republicans in the last legislative session.

4 hours of homework is not "homework." That's failed instruction.
4 hours of homework leaves little time for an after school job which is necessary in many Decatur families to survive.
