Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • I got to find out how fast the Doberman could run this weekend. Oh, my.
  • And that dog is obsessed with the Family Cat.
  • In case you missed it on Saturday, Baylor scored 63 points and lost. And, yes, that's football. (And that West Virginia quarterback is fantastic.)
  • Sounds odd: A four year old was allegedly shot while riding in a car on a Fort Worth freeway.
  • I think if the Ryder Cup was promoted differently, it could be one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
  • I think I laid down for a nap late yesterday afternoon and didn't wake up until this morning.
  • Radney Foster played a small concert in Dallas on Friday night. I think I would have seriously considered going to that.
  • Why in the world does a television network show a car chase? A local affiliate, I can see. But a network?  And I bet Fox News may stop doing so.
  • The Supreme Court gets back to work today after their annual ridiculously long vacation.
  • A ball boy at an NFL game really bit it yesterday.  And on a sad note, the Colts head coach has left the team after being diagnosed with cancer
  • Forgot to mention that someone put a UT sticker on my car a few weeks back. A full scale investigation is underway.
  • I watched Money Ball this weekend. Meh.
  • I tried to watch Dances With Wolves for the first time, too.  Didn't make it through it. I don't think Kevin Costner can act.

If you were going to a concert this past weekend, it should have been Bonnie Raitt. She put on a great show. At 62, she's still got it. Actually, she stumbled over the words to the first song and I thought she was in trouble but she made an amazing comeback.

Keep the UT sticker. They will need all the fans they can get when they run into West Virginia.

I really appreciate how it is the first of October and your RTs completely skip over the election and the Rangers. Monday morning denial.

Kevin Costner was fantastic in Hatfields and McCoys. I suppose that is why he won an Emmy. Has he won an Oscar?

9:23 OBAMACARE plain and simple. You lefties are such fools to EVER believe that corrupt leader of yours.

After spending time over the weekend with several hospital employees and finding out what they are already having to deal with because of that fraud of a program it's no doubt things are going to change for the worse. So get ready. You're going to get your world rocked to hell and back.

Do yourself and the United States a favor and get educated on the truth about Obama and his policies.

The sky is falling. The sky is falling. Why don't you read unbiased reports on Obamacare on factcheck or pantsonfire.
I'm so tired of stubborn idiots not accepting truths.

Anonymous said...

@10:10 to 9:23
I am about to offer an answer to 9:23 from a different perspective, but that's not to say yours is incorrect, I simply don't know about the specific info you gave. I agree that at least us working/earning/producing folks will rue the day Obamacare was passed.

@9:23 The simple answer is the same reason that any business ever stops offering a product or a service: they weren't making a reasonable profit, and they didn't believe they could develop an effective strategy to make that happen.

@9:35, evil or not, if they could make a profit they would still be in this market. I don't know for a fact, but I'll bet the reason they couldn't make a profit is overregulation of the industry or the govt. creating an unlevel playing field, or something like that. The govt. is the biggest problem in all commerce today, way overstepping its Constitutional authority, and has mired the economy deep in the muck we find it in today.

United embraced Obamacare while the others did not.

Anonymous said...

Actually you are incorrect. The Supreme Court returned to work a week ago. This is the first day of arguements for the term. Way to fact check there Barry.

Radney Foster's cover of Guy Clark's LA Freeway is the best song you will hear all day.

Or maybe The Mavericks' Born to be Blue. Or Don Williams and Imagine That.

Americana music is about all I lisen to these days.

10:36, maybe you missed the part where 10:10 said:

"After SPENDING TIME over the weekend WITH SEVERAL HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES and finding out what they are already having to deal with because of that fraud of a program it's no doubt things are going to change for the worse."

People in health care do not have to read biased or unbiased reports on Obamacare. THEY ARE DEALING WITH IT ALREADY and they have found that it is no good!!!

But you just keep on reading there bucko. Just read to your little hearts content and believe those verbal promises of that traitor while our health care goes straight to hell because of MORONS like yourself who can't or won't see what is happening right in front of your eyes!!

10:10...If you believe the sources you noted are unbiased, you are crazy. Every organization has an agenda. People relying on factcheck and pants on fire are just lazy uninformed fools without the energy or brains to research themselves. It has gotten to the point where we can trust no one. Websites you referenced are relevant only if they confirm what you already beleive to be true.

Anonymous said...

10:49...Actually United Healthcare embraces AARP and AARP embraced Obamacare. The whole wrestle with pigs thing. AARP embraced Obamacare becasue the head guy was promised a cabinet level position by the administration. AARP was a great organization years ago but now they are a sales force posing as a champion of seniors' rights. As always, follow the money.

12:51, do you believe that Obama is a fixer? I'm sure his health care program will follow the same fix as his debt relief program.

One doesn't FIX problems by making them worse!

Look what he did to our nation's debt. I shudder to think what his health care will destroy!

Anonymous said...

12:48, keep talking so you'll show more of the idiot you are. You said, " look at facts and not somebody that has to make a few changes in their job responsibilities."

OMG, can you really be so blind?

THE FACTS ARE that these people who do work in the health field and are already dealing with the Obamacare fiasco actually SEE what is being paid, what is not going to be covered, what people will have to pay out of pocket and have a grasp on what taxes are going to be issued to pay for this fiasco!
They SEE it because they ARE DOING THE PAPERWORK for these patients!
"The changes" in their work are the filings of what will and won't be covered.

Wow! Might want to be careful throwing that "dumb a$$" out to others when you wear it so proudly!

Get a clue!

2:40 Thank you. YOU know exactly what is going on.

The West Virginia QB was fantastic...but who wouldn't be while throwing the ball with no pressure and wide open receivers. It's just a matter of chucking it into a general area for crying out loud. Looked like practice most of the time.

None of the hospital employees are my close friends. You may work on a bias lifestyle but I do not.

I am conservative AND LIVE MY LIFE BASED ON ACTUAL FACTS. I can assure you the people I visited with know exactly what they are talking about. They live it daily. It's not pretty and it is only going to get worse.

1:08 I hear what you are saying, but that doesn't really make sense. FedEx and UPS are private companies that are attempting to make a profit. The USPS is run by the government and designed to provide a service, but not to make a profit. FedEx & UPS have the ability to alter their practices and prices to meet the market - USPS does not.

Additionally, in 2006 the USPS was required to pre-fund its retirement program 75 years into the future (a unique requirement to USPS to be sure). Some might say that the 2006 change was made in an attempt to destroy the USPS so that it could be privatized and/or to destroy the postal unions.

However you may feel about that, comparing the USPS to those private delivery companies doesn't really help.

Anonymous said...

I would bang Lindsey

Let's see......FED-EX is non-union and doing great.

USPS is union and failing.

Obamacare is the government controlling what should be private transactions.

Facts:
2010-Health insurance policies covering dependants increase the eligibility to the age of 26. (thats how long it takes to grow up these days)
2010-Limits on lifetime dollar value of benefits for any individual is eliminated.
2010-Pre-existing conditions will be eliminated for children.
2011-Employers required to report health coverage costs on W2's.
2011-Increase of taxes on withdrawals from HSA's & MSA's.
2013-Medical flex accounts limited to $2500.

2014-Individuals must obtain health insurance or pay a penalty.
2014-State health insurance exchanges to be established.
2014-Health status will no longer be able to be an underwriting requirement. (all individuals must be accepted)
2014-Pre-existing conditions eliminated for adults.

The changes are only acceptable if you encourage people to not be responsible for themselves or their family. Not to mention expect the responsible people of this country to pay for it. Nothing changes the fact the government is trying to regulate a business that should be free enterprise.

I would hate to be a new upcoming professional in the medical industry. If it was up to me the ones who didn't purchase insurance could go without treatment. That would fix the entire problem in a few weeks. Won't ever happen but it is the solution.

Need healthcare? Yellow pages. Find a Dr. Get an appointment. Go to the appointment. Pay the Dr. Go home.

Lasix surgery, done with a freaking LAZER, has gotten CHEAPER. Plastic surgery, same. Dentistry, affordable.

Get insurance AND the government out of healthcare, and it will be affordable within a year.

Can any Lib tell me HOW building a megalithic fed health program can possibly make it cheaper, without limiting care delivered? Huh?

Or do you not count the cost of the gov program?

Anonymous said...

@11:34AM "and AARP embraced Obamacare. "
Not sure what you mean by "embraced". Pelosi said AARP publicly supported it, during discussion leading up to the vote in Congress. I suppose that is a true statement. But then the following year, AARP applied for, and was granted an exemption from participating in Obamacare by the Administration. It is my understanding that somewhere around 300 companies have been granted an exemption by the Administration. Hmmm.

Even Word Kyle, who tries to come off as intellectual, uses statistics from the Canadian Maritime Board to prove his points.

Nothing against double wides or Harleys because I have done both.

3:12, UPS is a Union company and does fine. They beat FedEx and their underpaid employees to a pulp.

Here's the solution:

All healthcare professionals go on a payscale (like educators are). If you are a doctor then you're on the higher end of the scale. If you're an office worker then you're on the lower end. GOVERNMENT pays your salary based on where you are on the scale. Local control has a medical board (much like a school board) and if you're medical folks are doing well, then collect medical taxes from your local folks ( just like school taxes ) and then the board can determine any local bonus pay on top of Gov't pay. ( Like the school systems).
Of course, all medical treatments will be FREE to any US citizen, oh or any illegal who gets across the border and can obtain welfare.

I believe if this country can send billions, even trillions, to other countries who want the USA "dead" then we should stop ALL aid to those places and instead establish a USA medical fund with those monies that will take care of our own!

Elect me president!!! I'll fix this crap!

Why should every person be entitled to free healthcare? They have the option to be responsible and provide it for themselves. I shouldn't have to contribute. I pay for my families why should I pay for theirs.

I am sorry but America is suppose to be the land of equal opportunity not equal results. If you can't make it in the US then your lazy ass can't make it anywhere. Not my fault and shouldn't be my responsibility.

9:10 you are either under 30, rich or both. Do you really know anyone who can pay a $500,000.00 health bill for each member of your family, if by chance they all need major care at the same time? That is what healthcare is for...that kind of money is very rare to have in this country...in fact, very rare for a family to have even $50,000. in savings...credit maybe, but not savings.
