Don't picking on my McKayla Maroney. The girl is 99.99% flawless and of all the times, she screws up. It happens. She handled it with more grace than I could have. I cannot believe she fell. Sad but a medal nonetheless.
This is what happens with you are told how wonderful you are and how you ARE going to win, and how no one can beat you. Even the announcers said "she will win". Biggest part of being a winner is being a good loser. Guess they forgot to teach losing 101 in all those years of gymnastics lessons.
If I were interested in the dad burn olympics I'd watch it of TV for pete sake!Double fake Olympic Fan
9:21 Amen!! Teachers see it everyday in the classroom. Sad for her and our country.
Totally agree. She looked so bratty, especially when the other girls tried to hug/congratulate her. If medals were decided by who usually does best, there'd be no reason to compete. She didn't deliver when it counted and she still won silver. That's second best in the WORLD. Not shabby.
After that display of bad sportsmanship, I told my wife I was glad she lost. I can't imagine the disappointment and hurt she must have felt after having been so highly regarded and then failing to achieve her goal after all the time and effort she put in, but that doesn't excuse poor behavior to others who have worked just as hard. If you can't be a good loser, you certainly aren't a good winner.Everybody has a bad day, you have to learn to handle it like a decent human being. I'm pretty sure if the worst day of your life is when you ONLY got the silver medal at the Olympics, you're doing pretty well.
I want Chick-Fil-A chicken and I want it now.

Barron why r u pickin on a 16 year old girl for? Wut iz ur major malfuntion ol' man Barron? U shouldnt be looking at girls gymnsticks anyway.
Maybe its cuz she thinks the other girl had the judges on her side.
Unfortunately, the world will judge her based on her reaction to losing. While I am sure she was made at no one but herself, she came across as self centered and full of herself. I remember when Surya Bonaly won the bronze (or lost the gold) in figure skating and refused to accept her medal on the podium several years ago. Reminded me of that for some reason.
9:21...you nailed it better than she did last night. My 18 year old daughter that can be a diva herself said that she was shocked at the way she was acting. She could have at least smiled and congratulated the winners and then went to her room and threw her fit in private. How embarassing for the USA.
I wonder what flavor that humble pie came in?The Nihilist
She's 18 (and legal) right?
Give her a break. She prepared her whole life for this moment. She was in shock. It is not the same thing as being pitcher on the 3A softball team and losing bi district. This is big league, televised, representing your country. She came to kick everyone's a___ in the vault. That was her job. I love kids that are driven to WIN.
Jr. Miller pronounced her the official bee-autch of the Olympics.
I better not see that hussy on a box of Wheaties.
I thought the same thing, Barron. It reflects poorly on the USA that she responded as she did. I guess the ugly American saying doesn't just apply to travel anymore.
11:37--driven to win? still does not undo her attitude lat night! I was driven to win as a kid competing in different events/activities. You learn from those mistakes! And someitmes the lessons you learn from being beaten are more important than what you learn from winning. So yes, 10:32, she may be "first loser" but handling those things are tough when you've been raised as one of those kids who "always gets a trophy". Sad, but our society better get ready because we've got a whole generation of these kids coming! No one is taking anything away from her talents, but sometimes the lessons learned losing will get you further in life than winning. Lets see in 20 years how that medal is helping her be a productive member of society. Just the medal won't be worth diddly. It's the skills that went along with earning that medal (whatever the color) that will carry her forward! Plus her attitude....and let's hope someone can get ahold of that REAL quick!
Better a hussy than a coon on the Wheaties Box.
at least she didn't break into a classless, gangsta dance another embarrassment of an american athlete did.
In Chico if she can sit on a curb and her feet touch the grouund shes legal
I've been that upset with myself, glad cameras were not catching it.
Does Decatur have turf on the football field yet?
Well, at least she is not obese like most kids her age.
Does she have turf on her field?
10:32 - So, being a "bad" loser helps you win?
was drugs r alkehol involved?
12:18, YOU are a jerk. Gabby Douglas, on the other hand, is a classy gal.
Her real disappointment is probably about to begin when all those lucrative endorsements evaporate. A graceful loser probably could have kept some of the $.
I feel sorry for the poor fool who will marry her in 5-10 years.
11:02, the Judges were definitely on the Romanian girl's side. She stuck BOTH her landings while Little Miss Pissy Panties missed one and landed on her ass.No Wheaties box for you!
I hope I never play golf with any of the folks making negative comments about the gymnast. Because if you get all kissy kissy with me after I've missed a 3 footer for a birdie, you'll walk away with my putter well placed in one of your body orifices.Double Fake Tiger
It is sports folks, what else matters but WINNING?
