Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • It's hard to think of a story that is more gut wrenching than that of the seven year old girl killed in front of her father by an out of control truck in a Lake Worth parking lot. And the video, even though they stop it before impact, is almost impossible to watch.
  • And they were just going to Target on a Saturday. They left the house to go the store. Did you do something similar on Saturday?
  • Most of the TCU students arrested in the Spring "drug bust" are receiving three years deferred adjudication and a small fine. Why do we even waste the time?
  • ESPN has released the schedule for its Fall 30 for 30 series, and I can't wait to see the one on Bo Jackson.
  • Mrs. LL went to Chick-fil-A on Friday. Not because of support -- the kids wanted chicken.
  • Allen High School's sixty million dollar stadium is completed. Good grief.
  • What's the deal with that body tape that some of the Olympic divers have on?
  • I don't like the font on the USA uniforms. Block letters just doesn't seem American.
  • I went to Hurricane Harbor (or as I sometimes call it, "Wet and Wild") yesterday. Observation: The masses have invested in a lot of tattoos. Observation #2: Apparently anyone can wear a bikini.
  • The USA's female gymnastics squad looks like they walked off the set of Mean Girls.
  • Everyone seems to forget that Kerri Strug's "historic" vault in 1996 was actually meaningless. NBC did a whole segment on it and that fact wasn't mentioned until Bob Costas said it after the package was over.
  • The double amputee running the 400 meters seems even more unfair now that I've seen him compete.
  • That decomposing body found South of Newark was wrapped in carpet.  Last year, the body of the lady found in Paradise that gave rise to a murder charge was also wrapped in carpet.
  • I don't know much about Sikhs.

Never heard of Sikh.

But even though more people were shot and killed in Chicago people will try to use this as an anti-gun movement.

I'm sure serial profilers will say that wrapping the victim in a carpet or rug gives them a sense security.

Sure anyone can wear a bikini, but not many should...hope you didn't..anybody over the age of 25 should not..whether you got the body for it or not and most don't

Regarding TCU players being gently tapped on the wrist for violating the law and (apparently) team rules -
Why do we waste the time? isn't the right question to ask.
Why do they smoke dope when they have so much to lose? is much more of a mystery. There's plenty of evidence that either a) Possessing poor decision-making skills leads people to smoke an illegal drug; or b) Smoking pot leads people to make bad decisions. Neither one is a compelling argument for its legalization.

Hey all, somebody needs to rescue the senior male mastiff at the Bridgeport animal shelter. There is a bull dog there too, I think. Come on give him a home..couldn't have that much time. If he is old and has medical problems, just give him a couple weeks of loving and have him put down. Anything would be better than dying in the shelter without having a little more time in a loving home.

Good idea 8:49 - you should go for it.

The Army guy must have confused the Sikh people with Muslims or something. They might be stinky, hairy, play the skinflute and drums for musical instruments, but they believe in Karma and other made up religious stuff.

Actually Barry, yes I did do something similiar. I was at that Target about 40 min after that happened. Actually, in front of the shooping center to be more correct. I was at one of the Restaurants that is in front of that shopping Center and the Kid at the Drive thru (who had no idea what was going on) said "Hey lady you might wanna be careful on 199 today. Its been crazy out there!"

8:49, Whats the #? I didnt even know they had a shelter....

Wow!

Wordkyle's ignorant fascist alterego is posting today.

So much for being a moderate.

Believe the black paint is a sort of roll-on bandage that shrinks when dry, similar to wrapping with tape.

Mrs. LL, Did you get to see Rage at Chick-Fil-A? Isn't there a closer chicken place in Decatur? Spoiled kids.

My spouse also went to CHick-fil-a this week. Not because he's anti-gay, but for free speech. We're allowed to donate to whatever group we want. Apparently, lots of other people felt that way. The "kiss-in" was a bust. Maybe Americans aren't as pro gay-marriage as the media wants us to believe.

929 - just a bit too quick on the "fascist" button. You needed to wait until I'd been called a Nazi, told that I ought to try getting high, informed that pot was no worse than liquor/tobacco/caffeine, and been directed to a Libertarian website explaining how smoking pot actually improves one's judgment. Then your fascist comment would have blended right in.

Sihks are Hindu. They originated as a warrior class that was designated to watch the western border of India to protect it from invading Muslims. They hate Muslims just like we do. He killed the wrong people.

weekend travelog
went to a wedding in Thorndale, east of Round Rock. Parts of the movie The Rookie were shot there. A local lady told me that Dennis Quaid was not very nice - rude and drinking a lot (whispered: "He was an A$$hole!")
Stayed down the road in Rockdale, at what is supposedly the oldest motel still in use in the state - Rainbow Courts, est. 1918. An assortment of standard rooms, cabins and bungalows. Very nice for the price; highly recommend
Rockdale seems to be The Land That Time Forgot, or The Undiscovered Country (by recent immigrants, anyway). To wit:
1. The motel is owned by someone not named Patel. They're as Caucasian as me and you, McGillicuddy
2. Their housekeeping staff, a mix of several ethnicities, all spoke perfect English
3. The local donut shop was operated by Hispanics.
It was bizarro world at every turn. Up is down now? Day is night?

9:29 and what actual documented proof do you have that he is wrong?

I suspect none just a hatred for WK.

Pity poor you. Here's a patty pat on your back. Living off hate instead of actual facts must be awful.

I loved tube tops in the 70's, they made it quick and easy!

Where did he get his gun? Whoever sold it to him should be held liable, just like when bartenders are when a drunk moron kills someone.

8:49, being in an animal shelter is better than being dumped on CR 3451 like the several I see each month. The buzzards were feasting on one beside the road yesterday. As Bob Dylan wrote: "I'm walking down this long and lonesome road babe. Where I am bound I cannot tell. You could have treated me better but I don't mind, you just wasted my precious time. Don't think twice, it's all right." People, please stop dumping your dogs on the rural roads of Wise County. They don't get adopted. They just get eaten by coyotes and buzzards.

Hey Barry don't take it the wrong love the Random thought pic. How about some with some booty.

"Observation #2: Apparently anyone can wear a bikini."

Hey Bubear....

Before investing in a new bikini wardrobe, I suggest you try on some of Mrs. LL's outfits to see which styles look best on you...unless, of course, you've already tried them on....

Sikhs are some of the most honest religious types you will ever meet. They actually live the lives that Christians claim to live.

Boggles my mind that you spend that much money on a stadium to play high school football. Amazing!

I am thinking that the body just found wrapped in carpet probably isn't a suicide as well.

Ten bucks says the shooter was Republican. Not liking brown people is pretty standard for them.

What is up with all your trashing gymnist? At the time Strugs went to make her second vault, the scores were not posted. At that moment, all she knew was she had to stick her vault on a busted ankle in the olympic finals with the world watching.

Wow Allen High School! A friend of mine graduated from there in 1976. She was one of 30 students in the senior class.

Can't believe you got beat out by some other news organization by not announcing the new young porno bride getting her own porno show. But you did predict it would come to that.

FYI....

Although they know lived in Saginaw, the father of the little girl was from Springtown.

If anyone is interested, there is a candle light vigil Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. in the Target parking lot. They are asking everyone to wear purple, since that was her favorite color.

The tape the Olympians are wearing is called kinesiotape. It helps muscles activation and decreases pain and soreness... pretty cool stuff. Usually used for injuries... virtually any joint in the body has a specific tape pattern.
