Fight! Fight!

There was a fight at Bridgeport High School today that sent one to the hospital. Anyone?

(No names, please)

I heard the call on the scanner and they said a male student had been beaten by several other male students and he was bleeding badly from several cuts on his face and head..witness's said the boy was kicked many times in his head after he was on the ground begging for his life..

From what I hear two juniors lured a freshman into the D-Hall bathroom and then beat him unconscious! Toilet paper was found in his mouth! There may be a cell phone video taken of the beat down by one of the boys!! Also, heard the hallway cameras may not have been working!!

I don't know a thing about this incident. BUT, I do know a lot about life in America.

Used to be something like this would be harshly dealt with by stern parents, a God-fearing, responsible sheriff, maybe a minister, and many well intentioned relatives. Everything turns out OK, because boys will be boys. Fast forward to 2011:

Here's what happens now. A bunch of self important "peace officers" turn it into a terrorist attack. A lot of egotistical judges jump on the bandwagon, agreeing about the "severity of the situation"

The next two years are marked by an endless procession of court appearances, psychological evaluations, anger management classes, and of course the ubiquitous monies for all of the above paid to the county/state for such essential services. At some point in this process the prosecutor and a (court appointed) lawyer begin to bleed the families dry for all available money.

The end of this story is tragic and predictable. Unless of course you are one of those on the inside who perpetuates his existence on all the money which changes hands. The kids involved end up marked for life. Everyone else takes away a slightly lowered opinion of our legal system. The lawyers end up with everybody's money (surprise!surprise!)

And nobody learns a damn thing about being an adolescent

Sounds like a typical day in the life of a freshman back when I was in school at good 'ol DHS!

Yep 8;50, except now days the kid that was beat up by 6 of the football players comes back and "rocks out with his glocks out".

Sounds like the bullying finally moved up---from BMS to BHS. That's what happens when you STILL don't address the issues!

11:12, you are an idiot. Back in the good old days you so fondly espouse, racism was alive and well and even so, nobody every beat another kid with the kind of severity that was seen yesterday in BHS and in other schools around the country daily. They didn't kick kids in the head and torso as they lay on the ground begging...or well past the point of unconsciousness. Kids didn't kill kids back in those days. And if anyone did to your kid what was done to that poor boy yesterday, you might have a better understanding of why schools take bullying so seriously now.

What else is there to do in B-Port now since their football team went one and done?

Really glad everyone wants to make jokes about the situation. But some really bad things are going on at all the campus in Bridgeport. There need to be some changes made.

Bridgeport ISD is a joke

Bridgeport ISD is a great district. The HS needs to start enforcing the student code of conduct and things will be better.

I learned, as an educator, there are always trash that send kids to your school.
The complainers are the ones who have been "wronged" by the teachers and administrators.
Those kids are also low I.q. and a distraction to the kids who will make something of their lives. These people are a hindrance to those who won't rely on government help.
12:01 and 3:54,
You are the problem. We are trying to find a solution.

12:01 and 3:54 have apparently been deleted. It would have been interesting to see what they said, although I generally agree with 6:05.

The numbers of potentially disruptive kids (and adults) seem to be growing right along with more and more rules derived from current notions of political correctness and rampant fears of lawsuits.

Your first sentence makes no sense. Are you trying to say:

There are always trashy people who send their kids to your school.

If so, it is even more important for the educators to become involved with those students.

My granddaughter is in Pre-K in a public school. Hence, she is with all the "trash" who rely on government help. Her daddy is in the military. They receive food stamps because of the military pay.

I pray that my granddaughter never passes your judgemental path.

6:05 is probably talking about the parents of students that are continually disruptive to the educational process, the powerlessness and at times, unwillingness, of school administrators to remove such distracting students from the general population, and the parents that perpetuate the behavior by enabling it with denial.

As for parents that complain, in general, there is a great deal that parents should be complaining about regarding teachers and administrators. There is so much more going on in our schools than discipline problems. Students are becoming more and more frustrated because they are being treated like a product on an assembly line. They are hammered with worksheets and multiple choice tests in order to become a piece of disaggregated data. There are always those students that are emotionally disturbed, but the problem of discipline is going to get worse as our legislators continue to sabotage the public education system. I DO blame adminstrators, teachers, and parents for what is going on. We hear over and over from principals and teachers that they understand our concerns, but they are still leading the lambs to slaughter.

This fight was unfortunate. But as school boards, central administrators, principals, and teachers continue to treat our students as a piece of data, the frustration of students will continue to manifest itself in many unseemly forms.

The Declaration of Independence is based on the premise that if a governmental entity fails to serve the needs of its citizens, then the citizens have the right to initiate change. So far, the "government help" that you refer to has broken the back of public education with the No Child Left Behind Act and the financial mess that has put Texas school districts in a panic with unreasonable expectations and a looming financial crisis.

Tell him to move over here to DHS they can't beat anybody. One and done eagles! Let Story teach him how to lay down for a beating..

4:20, if you believe teachers enjoy worksheets, multiple choice, and teaching to the test, you are sadly mistaken. We do it unwillingly and under protest, especially when lock-step programs like CSCOPE are implemented without any input from classroom teachers.

I wonder what the fight was about. Maybe the young man who got his butt whooped started. Maybe he is like so many of you on here (smart mouths) Anytime something happens and a mexican is involved ya'll start the mexican comments. Just maybe the kid deserved to be humble a bit. Back when I went to school you got your butt whooped end of story. We have turned into P_ _ _y world.

Thats right, MESSKINS. Or maybe the wetback shouldn't have been stealing cell phones. But, it's prolly not his fault. After all, we forced his uneducated, underpriveleged ass into a life of crime, right???

6:05 comments like what you wrote:
Those kids are also low I.q. and a distraction to the kids who will make something of their lives..... Is why some kids get in trouble. Because the teachers admin etc does not care about the low I.G. which is very very wrong. Every student has the right to learn and every teacher should do everything in there power to teach wether they are the goodie good kids, the mexican kids or low I.G. kids they all should have the chance to learn. The teachers have our kids during the day longer than we do they need to walk the halls and see what going on. I wonder how 6:05 or BISD would feel if that child had died and BISD has a big lawsuit on them because they didn't know what going on in there on school.

8:28 Do you know what the fight was about? Just maybe the other boy provoked this MESSKINS/WETBACK
Yes he did go to far or maybe the other boy is just a smart mouth wuzzy, who overloaded his azz. This county is full of racism. If you don't believe me just read all the comments on here.

@11:10, when I read the comment about the worksheets and teaching to the test, my very first thought was CSCOPE.
