Casey Anthony Freed
Video.
Edit: On Monday morning, KLIF had on "former federal prosecutor" Fred Teece who said "the defense didn't do a damn thing in the case" and, in fact, only made if more likely that she would have got convicted. Moreover, any competent defense lawyer could have obtained an acquittal "in six minutes." When he was asked by the host why the prosecutor would try the case in the first place, he said. "You've got to because you've got a dead three year old girl. You take a shot of sake, scream 'Bonzi", and do your best."
That is the greatest threat to our system: Reckless prosecutors who pursue baseless cases because they are scared of the political fallout from doing the right thing.

In 2012 Casey will answer to what ever she did to cause Caylee's death.
Well lookie there, somebody threw out a perfectly good white girl. I'll take her if no one else wants her.
nut
I think while Cindy was attacking Casey on June 15, 2008, Caylee was accidently knocked down and broke her neck or something; and, this whole circus has been about covering up the real killer, Cindy.
Just my thought.
Finally justice. No motive. No cause of death. Horrible prosecution.
Everyone is so sure she did it and yet nothing in the prosecution pointed to her but everyone wanted it to be her. Nothing like another mother-kills-child story to rile up America, where people die everyday and no one could give two shits.
Conviction does not equal a guilty party.
I hope no one acts on their harsh unfounded hatred against her. Everyone who says she should die is just as (if not) worse than what they think she is. A heartless evil person, which is what America mostly consists of these days.
On December 21 2012 we'll all answer but there will be no one to listen.
I don't get it. Why are we supposed to be so worked up about this case? Maybe she killed her daughter, maybe she did not.
It's not like she's going to go on a kill crazy rampage and kill all our little snowflakes.
It's Banzai! homes.
You're right to a point Barry. The "greatest threat"? The greatest weakness- the biggest flaw to our entire system is that everything prosecutors AND judges do or don't do is politically motivated
Hey, now.
Rage
I'd smash that, but then my standards have always been low.
I don't understand why the jury is being blamed. For once in America we had a defendant who was innocent until proven guilty. The state must have forgotten that part. Sure the whole world is pretty confident she did it, but you still have to have proof...
Rage, Your new wife, the ice cream lady, might pop a cap on you if you start Hey Nowing! But then don't take my advice, cause I'd love to see it happen.
Holy Hyperbole Batman!!! Reckless prosecutors who pursue baseless cases?
You obvious aren't trying to equate the Casey Anthony trial to that statment are you?
It's not reckless to seek justice and it wasn't baseless either. Just another example of a jury that is not smart enough to understand forensics. Prosecutors failed to dumb it down a bit for the jury, but nonetheless.
Just because defense attorneys are PAID to believe in a defendant, doesn't mean you have to keep that mentality when your are not involved in the case.
By "greatest threat to our system", do you mean to our legal system, or to our American society and way of life?
I can go with it if it is the legal system, but if you refer to our way of life, I'd vote for socialism and the encroachment of govt.
Thank you Barry for bringing some sanity and knowledge of law to what has been a weird media induced trial that probably never should have had the money wasted on it.
Well said 5:22. America is full of hateful nutjobs these days and situations like the Anthony trial just really serve to show it to the world. It would have been a crime if she were actually convicted. Luckily the jury saw through the rhetoric and wondered where the evidence was. What? No evidence? WHOOPS.
Agreed with 10:56
It is never a good idea to break the law in any way when it is election year for DA's!
Personally, of course, I don't break the law at anytime.
I guess the fact that she did not report her child missing until 31 days later, lying like a mad dog at every turn means nothing to you lovers.
Ok, she didn't report the child missing. That does not mean she killed her, or even broke a law for that matter. Why didn't the grandma report the baby missing? She hadn't seen her for 31 days either, does that mean she killed her too?
I also didn't report her missing.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? "Reckless prosecutors with baseless cases", Don't know Fred Teece, seems he wanted a few minutes to talk shit about other prosecutors, obviously he must have not watched the trial and didn't see the evidence they did have.
There was proof that she did it, but the jury wasn't smart enough to understand the forensic science in this case. There was a little doubt, but not "REASONABLE DOUBT", they just didn't understand the judges instructions. The verdict sheets were just to confusing to them.
Hell, you take a 6 week trial, and they come back in 10 hours? Are you kidding me?
Think what you want, but we will know the truth one day, and all you naysayers, can eat your words!
This big teeth, skinny, evil bi@tch killed her own daughter to spite her mother. Never doubt that, she is one that got away with it, just like O.J.
