I'm not sure "falling asleep" quite covers it.

While "a win is a win," I felt dirty afterwards...

Yah....its cause they donts gots afro-turf.

Anonymous said...

Decatur out coached Bridgeport but the talent was not there

Anonymous said...

Agreed!
Bridgeport Coaches seem to do a better job!
I hope Decatur sticks with what they have.
It has been helpful to Bridgeport!

Anonymous said...

What is so bad about finishing 2nd?

Oops!

Only two teams played!

Anonymous said...

So Decatur has better Coach but no talent? Sounds like Coach Story is on FB. Coach you still don't get that freakin AFRO-TURF if you win any games this year

Anonymous said...

Alvord, Decatur and Paradise staffs should be fired.

Anonymous said...

Bridgeport coaches tried to give this game to the eagles by their pass-happy tendencies. Coaching 101 tip of the day for Bull's coaches: when you're ahead late in the game and you're offense is running all over the opponent, DO NOT THROW the ball. Keep it on the ground and good things will happen.

I heard they showed the Decatur players a picture of artificial turf at halftime.

You r kidding!

Not the game I saw!

Whose bright idea was it to turn off the lights for the helicopter landing? One of the dumbest moves yet. Also, the helicopter is a bit much. This is not the freakin Super Bowl.

Anonymous said...

We totally support the Decatur staff!

Bridgeport Bull Boosters

Anonymous said...

I don't care about the score....

Just keep playing my kid

Anonymous said...

I thought the helicopter was absurd and ridiculous! How much money did THAT cost?
Just another reason Story needs to hit the road!
Awful season, AGAIN, for the DHS Eagles. Powerhouse of the Past!

Anonymous said...

The Decatur board has made some foolish decisions....

This is another Story......

Anonymous said...

seem like everything the bulls beats decatur the b-port coaches try to give it away. decatur people are just a bunch of whinny babies.. yesterday i ref'ed a soccer game bridgeport -vs- decatur, and the fat cry baby that was coaching a bunch of 5 yr olds was crying about calling foals on 4 and 5 yr old kids.. just face it since henson got here here we've had better players coaches and stratagies... bridgeport is just better at everything and we don't cry when we lose.. we just get back up and keep fighting... decatur babies!!!!
!!!!

Anonymous said...

The messenger shoud do story about the coaches salary and cost per win

Anonymous said...

quit bitching about the helicopter, astroturf and story, your just not that good, the talents not there! Story can only coach what he has! few years ago i went to the bport/decatur game in bport and they had the helicopter bring the game ball, plus had a plane fly over after the national anthem and not one complained about that....so, DECATUR, QUIT YOUR BITCHING!

Anonymous said...

The county is doomed.......

Folks, I know you think your "Little Johnny" is the greateast thing football has ever seen, but all I've seen for the last three or four years on the Decatur team is relatively small players, and no blinding speed. You can do a great coaching job, but you can only accomplish so much with small size and so-so speed. I think Story and his coaches are doing the best they can with what they've got.

Honest Decatur fan assessment.

Anonymous said...

Don't know whose idea the helicopter was, but it has been taking place for 4 years or so. The lights were the cause of a blown fuse, not theatrics, or so I have heard.

Blog soooooooooooooo s l o w ... ....

When you got them where you want them you have to give them hope or they may change there leader.

Here's to next year!

Anonymous said...

You have to admit, Story and Co looked stylish as they lost!!!!!

Anonymous said...

umm story actually owns the head-to-head matchup against henson...Decatur will be back on top, trust me

Anonymous said...

Bridgeport coaches almost gave it away with their constant passing when there was no need but the thing that I noticed was the poor sportsmanship from Decatur. Story was crying about, what he thought was holding for 1/2 the game. Even demonstrating it to the ref by hugging him. They also had a player kicked out for kicking a Bridgeport player in the head. Right out in the open field for all to see. Smart!!

Anonymous said...

You Bet!

Decatur puts there money where their football team is!!!!!

Go Eagles!!!

Sad Male Sis's

8:21...I agree 100%. I don't care if we win. I really don't! All I care about is if my kid gets to play.

Anonymous said...

@8:26- decatur has kids with good speed. Story has taken all the kids that have a fast "40" speed and put them strictly to offense. So therefore they have no defenseive speed at all, which is why they got blown apart by the Bulls offense. If you dont have guys to scrape the line of scrimmage or run with receivers, you have no defense. Story has a bunch of fast kids sitting on the sideline waiting for their turn on offense when they could be contributing on the other side of the ball (i.e. Brazeu, Carpenter). Story's offensive gameplan consists of deep pass and quarterback draw. Theyre running backs run hard, but they never get an opportunity to get a rythym. Last of all he has no heart. He doesnt try to get his team fired up and loaded and ready to play teams like Bridgeport. All in all, Coach Story is a joke. He coaches pee-wee football at a high school level.

Dedicated Decatur fan.

I hate to see a coach (or his defenders) blame the kids.

Though I don't believe it for a minute, lets ask the question if true, why its true.

A student body of 900+ doesn't have talented kids willing to go out for football? Size matters. A big 3A school has a much larger pool to create a team from. By definiton it should have more talent than the smaller schools in their schedule.

Why aren't talented kids coming out at DHS. They know they don't have the right last names? They know their parents don't have the money to compete in the "favor game" the Booster Club plays. They know talent is not what gets you on the field.

You can't have it both ways. The problem lies with the coaching staff either way........they fail as coaches or they don't have the respect of the kids in the student body who could help their program.

I'm glad we have all you wanna be coaches commenting on the football game, players and coaches. Every time you speak it really shows how stupid you reall are. Are you at the practices to see how the kids practice? Are you sitting in the film rooms all weekend and trying to get a game plan? Is your job dependent on a bunch of high school kids? I did not think so, instead you are out running you mouth about things you know nothing about. Thank them for working with the kids. When I played high school ball we very seldon won, but the lessons I learned then still help me be a good and successful person. Now put that in your equipment bag and sit on it.

@2:25

so you learned how to be a loser? good for you buddy!

Anonymous said...

DHS tries to look like a pro team with the spread and all that hopping up and down at the line. why can't they line up and play on REAL grass like everyone else that is kicking thier Butts. Coach and the school board rule the kids that play or not play.

Anonymous said...

Coach Henson is trying to run up his son's stats and thats why he nearly lost Bridgeport the game.
Also, the parents of the Decatur football kid removed from the game for kicking Bridgeport player in the head should get an a$# kicking for his actions.

Anonymous said...

I'd rather lose wearing blue than win like you!

The Eagles will rise again!

We are due for a CHANGE!

Anonymous said...

You are correct

The Eagles need and are due for a change. Someone needs to be held accountable

Anonymous said...

@ 2:25- to answer your questions, yes. I have watched practices and have talked to numerous players. All of the above is true. He is worried about who's name is being called over the loudspeaker. He is more concerned about getting a holding call than he is about why Bridgeport is throwing 40 yd touchdown passes against his D. I dont know what you know about Texas football, but little things like high school football games is what gets a lot of hard working, paycheck-to-paycheck families through to the next one. It is a passion. To see a team with good talent go down with terrible coaching sickens me. (i.e. Dallas Cowboys). His job is to win football games. Not be a therapist or a parent. That is his JOB.

Anonymous said...

DHS, Powerhouse of the PAST!

Anonymous said...

9:00- His job is not to win games! Playing my son is 100X more important. I don't care if we go 0-10. As long as my son gets to play I'm fine. We get to caught up in the winning & losing crap. If my son was not playing I would be bashing him too, not on this blog but to his face.

Cowboys...really! That's a job not a recreation. My son doesn't get paid to play football!

Anonymous said...

Hell even Coach Adkinson kicked bridgeports ass when he was coach and look where it got him.

Anonymous said...

10:45. Obviously your son sucks if he is not getting to play. Maybe you should instill a better work/workout ethic in him instead of training him up to be a crybaby like you.

Anonymous said...

testing testing thought there must be a problem because you again didnt post my comment. do we have a problem????? maybe i did something wrong.

GOOOO BULLS!!!

Anonymous said...

@ 4:56

You have valid point about the Decatur player. The only problem is this happens almost weekly. The very same player is practically kicked out of every game.

Anonymous said...

It is all about organizational discipline.

Winners have it!

Losers lack it!

Enough Said!!!

Decatur won't win til they git it.

Anonymous said...

10:43, didn't Decatur have a "lack of discipline" problem with a quarterback a few years ago?

Again.... Story needs to GO!!

Anonymous said...

10:43 You are not correct and calling high school kids out in a public forum for making 16 year old mistakes is not cool. I'm sure that a B'port player had nothing to do with it and and didn't make a mistake too that started the whole mess. Come on..pull your big girl panties up!

Anonymous said...

11:32 Decatur didn't run even one draw on Friday night. Where were you?

Anonymous said...

@ 1:48- when your quarterback stands up to pass, pauses, and then runs through the middle of the line, that is called a draw. Google it. Give me your address and i will send you my tapes of the last two years' games.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:32 When the quarterback stands in the pocket or sprints out and sees no one open and decides to tuck it and run, it's called a scramble. If they are running with the intent to receive a pass it's a designed pass that turns in to a scramble. Google it. If the Receivers are setting up a stalk block down the field, it is called a draw.

A draw is designed to get the defense to soften up at the L.O.S. (line of scrimmage). It is a designed run that entices the defensive front to come up field opening up a running lane. Just because a QB runs the ball doesn't make it a draw.
